A bit off topic, how did you like the Skullcandy FMJs? I'm considering getting them.

Back on topic, good luck, I hope you get your money! A 2 yr account with 0 feedback is odd but not unrealistic. I've had my account for several years but have never bought or sold anything, so have no feedback.

great sound, great mic, very useful, but also very uncomfortable and hard to keep in the ears. the lifetime replacement guarntee is a bonus, but if you can go without the built in mic, i suggest bose in ears....most comfortable earbuds i have ever used

i sent the buyer an email asking for confirmation and other stuff and havnt got a reply

im thinking of offering second chance to the person with good feedback, should the transaction with the (seemingly fake) winner go through

Seems weird to me...

I'm surprised anyone bid on your 1st gen at all.

First of all, YOU have no feedback. That would throw me off right away. I don't buy anything from someone without alotta good feedback because I'm super paranoid like that.

Secondly, I wouldn't (didn't) bid on an auction for an iphone. The demand for these phones are so high that I know I'd have to spend much more than I did in order to win an auction.

NOTE: If anyone is thinking of buying a (1st gen) iphone from ebay, please don't bother with auctions. Do the "Buy it Now" or "Best Offer" option because it's simpler and you'll probably get a decent price. HOWEVER, I suggest waiting until eBay has another coupon offer because that'll also cut the price. Be careful on that site, kiddies. I was lucky not to get scammed.

..... +Hugs her eBay-bought 8gb+

EDIT: I totally want those earbud things, though. Scrumptious.

I went to transfer the money from Paypal to my checking account, and the funds changed to "on hold" status..), completely refusing to release it until the buyer approved. Not that that would happen in this case, but it does happen.

I can see your point, but I have the PayPal CC, so the funds go directly to my CC without delay or being placed on hold status, or having to transfer my funds from PayPal to my banking institution. Sorry, but I've never experienced a similar situation to "Sonicjay." :(

no the one i was thinking of offering it too was from canada with 100% feedback on 97 auctions

That's probably your best bet. I can't believe the 1009 bid if for real.

With most ending around 350-450 that is one is right in the ballpark and more likely to pay. Do you have to wait a certain amount of time before making a second chance offer?

Ya, if you don't hear soon from the winning bidder, then I would move on to the bidder from Canada. But don't jump the gun with that, if you set a standard in your post, then stick to it, and if not, then inform the winning bidder of when they have to contact you back. But in means of the zero-feedback, I wouldn't be all that worried about that, he is probably somebody who just joined because he would rather have a 1st gen phone.

Maybe they thought that it was an iPhone 3G, or they saw all of the $1k+ auctions for the iPhone 3G and decided that they wouldn't get it for a few hundred? That's an amazing price for your first-gen iPhone.

It's interesting that the winning bidder has been a member of eBay since Jun-18-06, but they have zero feedback.

I had a hell of a time selling my 1G on ebay. Scammer after scammer. Asking to send to unverified addresses, etc after auction end.

Just follow paypal's protection policy. Also, require immediate payment and put a buy it now up there. That really helps. I sold my 16gig for 500 bucks.

If this does go through, make sure you follow the Seller Protection Policy found here:

https://www.paypal.com/us/cgi-bin/webscr?cmd=p/gen/ua/policy_spp-outside#spp-policy

I sold a T-Mobile Dash on Ebay back in February. Two months later I got a charge back notification from PayPal saying that the credit card was used fraudulently. My PayPal account balance was now negative $160. I submitted all the info pertaining to the policy above. About a week later the chargeback was settled and I was covered under the SPP.

The buyer did not have any feedback, I shipped to a confirmed address, but the seller's account was not verified. I think this was my main mistake in this entire transaction.

Now my future auctions will require 2 positive feedbacks, and a confirmed and verified Paypal account. While this won't protect me from hijacked accounts that qualify into that above category, but my risk will be less.

Just wanted to pass along some advice, good luck with the sale.
very good to know, thanks

Actually, some people have had good results by selling using an auction.

I'm surprised anyone bid on your 1st gen at all.

What are you going to do about getting out of that iPhone data plan??? Aren't you held to that for the 2 years?? I am planning on selling mine too, but I dont know if you can cancel the data plan. If someone can give some insight into this I would be very appreciative.

Data Plan is just a feature. If you're not using it you shouldn't be charged for it.
From what I heard, you can't just cancel the data plan. I made a thread asking this exact question, and I got responses saying you can't just cancel your data plan. People also said I either need to give the phone back or tell them I lost it or something like that. I can't believe they would make me do that and if they did I would cancel right then and use the money I got from my iPhone to pay the ETF and leave.

Can anyone who has recently sold their iPhone tell me how they handled this??

Can anyone who has recently sold their iPhone tell me how they handled this??

My son sold his v1 about five weeks before 3G iPhone release and he put his SIM card in a $10 Go Phone, and informed AT&T that he would not need the data plan until he purchased the 3G iPhone. They accommodated his request and we received credit. He purchased his 3G iPhone Black and the Data Plan was added for $30 per month.

Burton, you might be talking about the 3G iPhone; I'm making reference to the v1.

I would disregard the winning bidder. A 2 year old aco**** with 0 feedback means it's probably stolen.

But if you do decide to go ahead with it, just make sure you don't ship until you get the money, and follow all of Paypals rules to make sure you are protected.

You said it was going to the US, so make sure the address is verified. Google it as well. Get a first and last night and Google that. Make sure that everything checks out.

I sold an iPhone on ebay. The guy was from Costa Rica, but had it shipped to an address in Miami. It was unverified, but through my own investigationand the use of Google I found that all of the guy's information checked out. I even found a picture of the guy on his works website. I also followed all of PayPals guidlines, sign for delivery and whatnot.

heres what I did with a recent sketchy winning bid on ebay. the guy emails me saying he's traveling, cant confirm his address bla bla bla. So I did a reverse address lookup online, got the phone number, sure enough the guy who answers never heard of this person and knows nothing about an ebay purchase etc. He is very appreciative of the info. I emailed the bidder and told him I can't ship to an unconfirmed address until he sends me a certified check/or western union/money order...
