Garbage. My dad bought one from best buy today. Really, I get why they made the change for the MacBook since its size. But really, Apple? You want pros to use this computer and type on it for hours each day? The changes are extremely subtle. I use my MBA's and a mechanical keyboard, and it's simply boggling that people's main comments on this are, "Oh, you'll get used to it." Uh, what? If you tell me about anything else that I have to get used to it, that means that at best, it's divisive, and has a good proportion of people not happy about it.

There are so many other things I dislike about these machines, but why Apple is still using the garbage butterfly mechanisms for PRO machines is mind blowing.

I've been typing on this keyboard for a couple of days now and I love it.

Probably more than the keyboard on my iMac (Magic Keyboard, first version) and my old white Mac Keyboard I use on my PC right now (the one with the last white plastic iMac).

But yeah, you get used to it, like anything that isn't exactly the same as before.

The keyboard on the MBP's before were universally praised. Hell, even the Magic Keyboard 2 is decent. Why go from a satisfaction rating of 80-90% to 50%?

I tried it out and best buy and actually liked it. They have the new 13" non touch bar next to the older macbook pros so it's easy to compare. I found the new ones to be very accurate and easy to type on. Seems like it's going to be a great keyboard to me. I think it will take an adjustment for people but I personally like it. To be honest when I switched to an older keyboard it did feel a little sloppy in comparison. Like I guess what I mean is if you didn't hit a key head on you feel it tilt and it takes a bit more force then it will press. The new keyboard just has a real confident and even keystroke no matter where you get the key. This and the size of the keys makes it a real easy typing experience you have great sized targets and good even response across the entire button. There definitely isn't as much travel but I really wasn't missing it after a while to be honest and the fact that it takes less force and distance to activate a button is a better tradeoff I think. I think that's a big reason people say it feels like a fast keyboard, you get on to the next keystroke quickly. It is a big change but I do think it is an improvement. I guess I'll have to use it for a while to be sure though.

If Apple kept all the ports and from the previous generation (usb-a, sdcard, magsafe) and converted to lightning 2 ports the usb-c/lightning 3 ports and made the volume of the case a handful of cc's larger to accommodate them, do you think the natives still be out with pitchforks and shovels? I think not. They would largely be gushing like fanboys at comicon that got a selfie getting a kiss from Megan Fox.

Didn't a lot of people say similar things about the first computer keyboards? The force that mechanical typewriters required, now THAT was tactile feedback :D

Ewww. Ok. You convinced me that the MacBook Pros are better than the alternative you just put into my head.
