I have a 6 Plus and have never once, nor will I ever take it on a run, even when I have the watch.

I can't wait to get mine later today, but i really wish the watch had GPS, that's my only issue.

I'll keep on using my Nike + tom tom watch for running.

Is it just me or does the iPhone get really annoying in the pocket on a run? Constantly moving and feeling like it's about to fall out...

Yes. But find some shorts with a back pocket and it's not a problem. It can be hard to find running shorts with a large enough back pocket for 6 but I've found some from Saucony. I also have some Nike tennis shorts that serve to purpose. In the winter I have a pull over w/ front chest pocket. Sometimes I'll just hold my iPhone. For short runs its no big deal.

Yes, it is a lot of back and forth movement as you run. But as a guy, I'm used to that down there.

Took my Apple Watch out for a run WITHOUT my iPhone here in Ausssieland. I know my distances well. It was pretty accurate. Where I hit 5000m it said 4400m. Not too shabby. I'll take my iPhone next time so it can learn my strides.

Also another observation, I went for an "outside walk" for almost an hour, and it only registered as seven minutes of exercise? Any reason? Was I not being "brisk" enough? Lol.

Don't really know how the watch views things yet but maybe it's programmed to consider min. exercise as a HR @ above x% of max HR. Anything below doesn't count. Just a guess.

It's quite possible - they've made sure to specify BRISK each time they've mentioned it, and to be honest it was only a really casual walk because I wanted to use the app lol.

well, simply put, the watch doesn't have gps. So you don't need your phone

You know, regardless of whether I've had a Garmin (worn or strapped on a cycle), I still, _always_ carried my phone. Even if the Watch had native GPS, I'd carry my phone. I like having a camera with me, and I always want to have a basic cellular device with me for emergencies.

So the need for the phone to use GPS is a total non-issue for me. In fact, until the Watch has GPS, cell, a decent camera, I'll always be packing my phone. :)

That's over 1/4 of a mile inconsistentency. Seems very "shabby" to me, esp If you are running for time. Hard to be a useful running tool if it's that off.

How is the HRM accuracy?

I thought it was recommended you use it with your iPhone initially to become more accurate.

I am looking forward to this tomorrow (assuming delivery doesn't get screwed up today by UPS)!

I second the flip belt for the iPhone 6. It is also great for longer runs because you can throw in a snack.

Another thing I noticed, and I don't know if this is at all related to the fitness app at all, but while I was out I couldn't use Siri or dictation at all. The screens would load, I'd speak and it'd just hang there and do nothing. I thought maybe it was a Bluetooth/Wifi thing, so I turned off my Wifi while I was out (so it didn't click back on when I got home). I then tried dictation after I ended the run and it was okay again. Again, could be totally unrelated, but something I thought was a bit odd.

This is a bit troublesome for me. My work hours differ a bit from those of my team so it is not uncommon for me to get texts with questions when I'm out running after work. I was excited to be able to quickly send a reply via the watch (a simple sound bite for example) instead of having to stop or slow down and use my phone. I truly hope this can be corrected via a future software update.

In other news, I noticed that Nike+ Running updated last night to support the Watch. I look forward to seeing how that all works together later today!

Awesome I can't wait to go for a run later today once I get my watch.
I want to try the apple workout app but I want to use nike too. will I be able to do that?

Maybe it was loose and had trouble picking up your HR?

I've used mapmyrun for a few years now. I was really unsure whether to keep using that or the native one, in the end I ran both of them and it seemed ok. Not sure what that would do to battery over a longer run though. And then of course you have to turn them both off at the end. But I did get an award for using the Apple Fitness app, so that's something lol

I'm trying to understand how this works.... did you start both apps on the watch? And both tracked your run just fine? Which one was at the forefront? Or did you run the native one on the watch and the 3rd party on your phone?

Personally I'd like to use Nike+ (which works on the watch as well apparently), it has years worth of data, but I also want the heart rate information that the native app has. Plus badges, I already have all if not most of the Nike badges. It's now time for Apple badges!

I hadn't thought of this conflict until now. Thanks for any guidance you may be able to provide.

Same here. I don't even like carrying in my pocket. Some days I regret going with the bigger model.

You can check your steps in the Move ring. Just swiping up. If your steps are there all is good.

I'm not interested in the health stuff on the Watch. But this is why. Why waste time trying to track this stuff if you can't even rely on the data?

It could be loose. It could have a bug. It could be this. It could be that. Hey, it almost got it right but left off a 1/4 of mile. Why didn't it measure my heartbeat? It's supposed to?

To be honest, this sounds like a nightmare trying to manage and you can't even be sure it's close to accurate. What the heck is the point?

I work out at least 2-3 times a week and play bball twice a week. That's enough for me. I don't care to measure it. I don't even like wearing a watch while doing this stuff.

i could see why you'd feel like that, but I don't regret getting the plus atall. And i wear really skinny jeans. I have had all the iPhones and the plus has been the best experience so far.

That said, it's a handful to keep pulling out of my pocket, so the watch is the ideal companion.

It's nice to hear about the accuracy, but what's more important is the reliability for using the data.

I'm thinking the exact same thing - Strava user here, so wondering if there is conflict if you start Strava after the native workout app. Or do you start Strava from the phone?

Ideal world - the native workout app would recognise you're about to do a workout when you start Strava for example, and then the heart rate monitor kicks in and starts logging data.
