My watch burns out after 6 hours because my iPhone is not close enough to my iWatch to keep bluetooth active. So, it sends out battery-draining signals. I cant carry my iPhone with me at work but my iWatch yes. so, I often find the Watch battery dead
A possible solution is to set your watch to airplane mode when you know that you cannot be near your phone.

Edit - I see that I was beaten by one post. sorry for the dupe.

This is ideal for travel. My Apple Watch charger cable is on a dock next to my bedside table. When I travel, I have to disassemble the dock to bring the cable with me, along with 2 power bricks and a lightning cable for my iPhone. You can just throw this in your travel bag and go. 6 charges is more than enough for the typical 1 week vacation and ideal for business travellers who are constantly going away for short 2 or 3 day trips.

I see. But you'll still need a separate charging pack and lightning cable to charge your phone, because if you charge your phone with this thing, you'll completely drain it.

I don't know, I see the travel appeal I suppose. But unless you're using this exclusively for charging your watch, and really hate bringing the brick and cord, I just can't justify the price still. For $100 I expected more.

All this struggle to keep stuff charged is going to be done pretty soon is my guess. My iPhone 6S easily lasts me a day. So does my Apple Watch. I know other users have more problems. But I think even for those users who really lean on their devices all day, you have to think their issues are going to be resolved in a year or two. The phone isn't ever going to get any thinner. And the Watch is probably only going to get a bit thinner. Once we have conductive charging in our iPhones, we can find easy times to top off as well without messing with a plug. That will help.

You're probably the same guy who has a mouse like this

Haha :D

I have a variant of that mouse, the RAT 7 - most comfortable mouse I've ever used :p

Many people have this issue. Further proof that Apple Watch is not ready for prime time. It's for gadget lovers with patience.

^^^This.

Out of topic: I inherited a mechanical, perpetual Rolex from my grandfather.

Vintage 1950 Rolex bubble back. A classic in stainless steel, self-winding rotor, date window ("perpetual") and subsidiary seconds hand. Lovely latin numerals in gold over a white porcelain dial face. Sapphire crystal.

And does not need release 2.x, batteries, charging, tethered iPhone, et al. Probably valued today 20X to what it was in 1950.

I find the fact that something like portable battery is needed for a Watch ridiculous.

IMO the only smartwatch done right is Pebble. The rest are just cheap copies.
Having owned both I can't agree. I was a loyal Pebble user for years and thought they had nailed the smartwatch essentials. The Apple watch just seemed so disappointing on paper.
Then I got an apple watch as a gift.
I intended to return it, but figured I'd try it until the return period was up. It never got returned. I kept it and my Pebble was retired to a drawer.
For starters Complications are brilliant. I'd gladly trade custom watchfaces for them. True hands free access for timers and texts is amazing and I use them every day. Interactive notifications, automatic driving directions, fit an finish are all great. Even the battery has never been an issue.
There are countless things I use it for beyond what my Pebble could do that I had to admit the Apple watch is the best smartwatch for iOS.
That said, the Pebble is a more compelling watch on Android. Due to tight OS integration, it may beat out Android Ware.

Dealbreaker for me is that it only has one USB out. Some of us charge more than just their phones and watches overnight when traveling, like iPads, headphones, small cameras etc.

nonsense. I doubt you even have one... the AW gets better battery than the device it's an accessory to, thus there is absolutely no problem. you charge your phone at bed time, you charge your AW. it has 40-50% + every night...so there is no problem or inconvenience.

pebbles looks like ass, I'd never put it on my wrist. also fails at wireless iPod and payment system.

I remember reading an article on MR a year or so ago talking about how Apple had patented something related to solar charging. While solar charging would do little to nothing for me as far as my iPhone is concerned, it seems like a no-brainer to add solar charging to the Apple Watch. My phone spends most of the day in my pocket. If I had an Apple Watch, obviously, the watch would be much more exposed to direct sunlight.

wow, this thing gets more ugly by the day. Now that I "downgraded" to an SE for work with my trusty Z3 for personal I finally have no need for a battery pack.

That's a hoot, clearly you don't own one. I have very little patience and am not into gadgets, only purchasing/using items that offer great utility. My AW is an example. On my wrist for at least 12 hours a day, every day, since May 2015. Used for fitness, notifications, reminders, answering calls, scanning emails, calendar, etc, and viewing the time/date - all without fishing my phone out of my jeans. It all works seamlessly, i.e., I don't give much thought to it - it just works.

For some reason this reminded me of the 80's when people walked around with a brick attached to their mobile phone. seems a bit ridiculous.

My first thought, when I saw the picture was :

Hahahahahaha

Then I saw the price and I still haven't stopped laughing.......

I'm just glad to see more products that use their OWN charging puck. The problem I have with most of the watch stands/chargers, is that you end up having to wrap four feet of the original charging cable into their products.

Agreed. I've found one through Belkin that is pretty nice and had the charger built in and I picked it up for $50 from Target. They also have a stand that has a lightning/watch combo that looks really nice. I'm always baffled by the stands costing $40-100 and not having their own means to charge it included. I mean, I get that most people are going to have a cable, but I'd rather be able to use that cable when I travel and not have to unfurl it from the stand, or pay $30 just for a charging cable.

The idea is that you pack this when you're traveling instead of bringing the Watch cable plus power brick. The advertised six full charges could last you ten days. It's one less thing to find an outlet for and the unit will pack more compactly than the long cable that comes with the Watch.
It will charge the watch six times. What about your phone? You'll still need the power brick. Might as well just bring the puck along as well. IMO, anyway. Especially considering the $100 price tag.

No disrespect to those who purchased the Apple Watch, but isn't this tacit admission that the product is conceptually flawed?

I mean, there's now a market for a portable device to charge your portable device...
