If you put your watch into airplane mode while away from your iphone, it will turn off the wifi/bluetooth.
This is what I do and it makes a huge difference, either way, the battery life is terrible for a watch. The watch 2 should as a minimum focus on allowing at least 3-4 days use for an average user, one way they could do this is allow more inherent function on the watch itsel and less reliance on the iPhone for pretty much any essential function. it will be tricky to balance longer charge life vs. Improved functionality like gps; however, Apple can do this! I just hope they don't sacrifice function for form by their their 'slim' obsession.

No disrespect to those who purchased the Apple Watch, but isn't this tacit admission that the product is conceptually flawed?

I mean, there's now a market for a portable device to charge your portable device...
I dunno, I've had my watch for around 2 months now and I've never had the battery die on me. I even wear it overnight to track sleeping and only charge it whilst I'm in the shower. I've gone more than 24 hours without charging it and when it finally got to its dock it was at 20%. I use the exercise tracking function a lot too (which keeps the heart rate monitor on). Brightness and volume set to max too. Not sure what others are doing with their watches!

(That said it was always nice never worrying about battery levels with my Pebble. I'd use it for a week before it needed charging again)
