kewl idea..

Now Apple watch users can go camping for more than a day while still checking the their favorite app

No disrespect to those who purchased the Apple Watch, but isn't this tacit admission that the product is conceptually flawed?

I mean, there's now a market for a portable device to charge your portable device...

In the same respect u can link 127 usb devices daisy-chaining, when we know, how many people don't actually to that..

I suppose if u really wanna get interesting. u could use one of these 'GoPower Watch' to charge an Apple watch, connected to your phone to charge "it", then use an external battery pack to charge your phone..

See, everything links? :) Just like putting together a jig-saw puzzle.

The only thing now would be if all of them run out of power... then you're really up the creek..

I mean, even Apple now sell a battery case!

And don't get me started on Tesla's Electric Highway. Surely with their gigafactory they'd find a way to keep batteries charged eternally?

There's no such thing as Silicon Heaven. Calculators just die.

Is this the first ever third-party Apple Watch accessory with built-in magnetic charging puck? Why did it take so long?

^^^This.

Out of topic: I inherited a mechanical, perpetual Rolex from my grandfather.

Vintage 1950 Rolex bubble back. A classic in stainless steel, self-winding rotor, date window ("perpetual") and subsidiary seconds hand. Lovely latin numerals in gold over a white porcelain dial face. Sapphire crystal.

And does not need release 2.x, batteries, charging, tethered iPhone, et al. Probably valued today 20X to what it was in 1950.

Everytime a thread about the Apple Watch appears, someone like you pops in and adds nothing of value.

(sounds like a neat watch though)

This is actually really good for someone who travels.

This is ideal for travel. My Apple Watch charger cable is on a dock next to my bedside table. When I travel, I have to disassemble the dock to bring the cable with me, along with 2 power bricks and a lightning cable for my iPhone. You can just throw this in your travel bag and go. 6 charges is more than enough for the typical 1 week vacation and ideal for business travellers who are constantly going away for short 2 or 3 day trips.

I was about to type the same thing. This is really good for a weekend trip

Actually it's not, but I feel your pain in trying to find one. Belkin makes a iPhone/Watch combo charger for the night stand and there's something similar to this, but just for the watch with a 1300 mAh battery on Amazon.

This would be so much better if it were shaped like a mannequin hand that holds the phone and wears the watch.

How about spend half the money on a 30,000 maH battery pack, plug the apple charger into it and now you can charge that watch for a month.

NOMAD Pod Pro is way nicer looking for $20 less. Or for $70 less you can get the older NOMAD Pod which doesn't have the phone charging capability.

I also remember this from CES which is still not shipping

My guess is that Apple is really strict on licensing magnetic puck to MFi makers and also charge a significant premium.

Tha mouse is actually pretty comfortable and all around great.
Are you sure you didn't just cut yourself on it, and have lost feeling in that hand? Because what you're experiencing is called numbness, not comfort, and your brain has released endorphins to compensate and ease the pain. ;)

I have an Amber from ClearGrass and I love it! When I'm home it is permanently charging next to my bed, but if I wake up and I forgot to charge my watch I pop my watch in it while I drive to work and when I get there its fully charged. Additionally, when I travel I plug my phone into the back of it and its the ultimate travel charger. Sadly the USB charger is only 1A so... slow, but ok for overnight.

I paid $60 on eBay for it. Its available for $50-100 around the internet.

Here is the product page: http://cleargrass.com/amber

If with power brick you mean the one that plugs into a wall socket, the latter is of little use if there is no wall socket.

I meant one of the many portable power packs you can charge at home and then just plug in your device on the go...

My dog chewed the end of my watch cable about a month ago. I'm not 100% sure he won't do it again. I would have gotten this instead of another Apple cord.

This product is for heavy travelers. I suppose people that travel a lot would just purchase an extra watch charging cable but every time I go anywhere for more than a day, I forget my cable and wish I had it. I suppose this solves that problem providing you remember to bring this. As a less frequent traveler, it should also be about $49 for me to consider it.

Agreed. I travel a lot for work and i just purchased a 2nd charging cable from Apple for my watch and i just charge it with the Aukey double USB wall charger I got off Amazon so I can charge my phone and watch.

Most hotels lack enough plugs near the bed :(

Essentially just a battery bank that can charge the watch without the need of the cable? Not bad, but kind of late to release, no. I feel like if I'm already bringing a power bank with me, the added inconvenience of bringing the cable, too, is rather minimal.

I'd honestly much rather have something like the reserve strap, though st a much larger price point.

I get it. But I also have a rotary phone that is able to make phone calls just perfectly fine. It may even be older than that Rolex (edit: it's 79's, so not older). And it's Mickey Mouse so it's a collectible!

We aren't really comparing similar products though are we? An iPhone is as much a standard phone as the Apple Watch is a standard Watch.

And I say all this while NOT being an Apple Watch owner. This product wasn't really made to replace your Rolex.

In this case the advantage of the GoPower Watch is that your sits directly snug on the power pack instead of at the end of normal watch charging cable.

Hint: Turn the charger on its side. The Watch will now be facing you in Nightstand Mode.
The problem with this, and all battery chargers for the AW I have seen, is that once the watch is fully charged, it shuts off and no more Nightstand Mode. To get Nightstand Mode, you have to continuously power the watch.

That's pretty slick, I would totally put that in my bag to have around just in case I needed to top off my watch. Although $70 is kinda steep when I could get that one off of Amazon I mentioned for $50 or maybe a shorty cable for $30 that I could use plugged into my car. I really wish Apple would come down on their charging accessories as a whole though. I'm getting a 40W charger and 6ft cable via Anker for my iPad Pro for essentially half of what Apple charges, and the charger has like 4 ports instead of just the one and is 40W instead of 29. While it's not quite as good looking (obviously), their stuff has been more durable and provides more utility.
