I didnt really notice the increase in resolution until i saw text. Its razor sharp, like im wearing glasses.

I've had the 8+ since launch day and picked up an X yesterday due to doubting my initial choice (thanks macrumors) and being able to keep it until January (will hand it back as 64GB doesn't work for me).

Honestly yes X is sharper than 8+ but not significantly, it took me staring at it to notice it. Whilst the X is brighter, the 8 holds colours better.

Overall I'm kind of meh on the X, it's new but that will wear out in a few days. I've had bugs with it that the 8+ just doesn't have and well I strangely had more excitement for an iPhone 4 than X (though the X's weight reminds me of the 4). I've gotten used to the X's notch (don't notice it except for videos) and faceid works well.

I feel both phones could make sense - the iPhone 8+ is just as powerful, great to watch videos on, take pictures with, it's proven.

The X is great but the form factor reminds me of a sausage it just feels slightly too stretched - basically an X+ would be ideal. This coming from someone who was on a 6S normal size and thought the 8+ would be too big.

The OLED screen is nice, but the color shift is something I noticed immediately. Its not terrible but its there and kind of puts a damper on OLED right now.

I didn't notice anything on OLED. Color Shift, PWM etc. Maybe eyes just aren't sharp enough anymore lol

No headaches, eye fatigue. Was on it about half an hour. Also, at least same time in an Apple Store a week ago.

You need more time with it, I noticed the colour distorted between the top and bottom part of the screen. Maybe I got a semi defective unit, maybe an OLED just needs more time. Who knows. It's a problem I don't have on my 8+.

I will look for that next time.

Heck with it, I gave in after playing with it...yet again last night!
...my willpower is not strong, I admit. I checked iStockNow when I woke up at 6am, that site is down. But found 2 nearby stores that have them today. I'll pick up the Space Gray X in a few hours and see how it goes.

Figured I still have a 14 day return policy
*Edit- I have until JAN 8, extended Holiday policy *

So if I love it. I'll keep it and sell the 8+, if not I'll return it, full refund and keep the 8+
I call it a nice long extended "test drive"

Depends on what you value. App experience? 8 Plus. The X still feels like Apple is tweaking UI and as ever that home indicator line makes certain apps look really bad. Apps not updated is like using a little iphone.

Hardware? iPhone X then. But using a case really takes away from the experience, edge to edge, the full screen, text looks painted on. It's a really nice phone. Feels great in hand.

If you're "bored" with an iphone though that's a bit telling which side you fall on and iOS and apps probably don't matter to you as much. I wouldn't blame you if you ran to a samsung note. Lots to like with that hardware and keep you going til X plus.

Yours isn’t defective. All oled phones do this. The 8+ screen is much more uniform especially when viewing at an angle.

If your only concerns are FaceID and the notch, you should get the X and see how you like it. Most reports say that FaceID is pretty solid and the notch becomes either something they eventually get used to or it’s not as big a deal as they originally thought. You should be happy with your phone choice, so at least give the X a shot. It may just turn out to be the phone for you.

Hey everyone. I just got a 256 gig 8 plus (ive been using the bigger phones for the past few years) and while i love wireless charging and the better cameras and processor, i got to admit it is still a very borning phone.

Ive been debating getting the 10 for a while now. on the one hand im glad they redesignd it and went OLED but on the other hand, im still not crazy about that notch and face id seems to be slower in some situations.

internally i know i got a better battery and the same processor...so in theory with the exception of face id features everything should work the same across both phones..

what are your guys thoughts...stick with the 8plus and wait for a plus version of the x next year or go for broke lol...
.

If the time only two things keeping you away from the X are the notch and Face ID. Get it. I don’t notice the notch really anyMore. I’m almost never looking at that part of the screen. Face ID is awesome.

Only been 48 hours with my X. First off, the "notch" (which I admit I HATED since I first saw the leaks in June, the keynote...etc etc) is actually a non-issue, I simply forget it's there.

Face ID does work for the most part...so far about a 99% rate, Even in the dark it has no problems. There have been a handful of times so far it won't read my face randomly for some reason. If I click the side button to turn off display, turn back on then it reads it.

It is a beautiful phone, display is very sharp. Putting it side by side with the 8+, you notice the difference. Little thing like the new dynamic wallpaper - bokeh colors that constantly animate and moves on the home screen looks pretty slick. (I personally like the dynamic wallpaper, always wish Apple updated this, different effects other than for the X)

Animojis..yeah I tried it. It's cool...but as I expected that can get old real fast.
My 4, 6 year old nephews may love this.

Apps that have NOT upgraded to the X display, really makes a difference as they appear much smaller on the screen, some of them look almost iPhone 4, 5 size to me. NOT an iPhone X problem, that's the developers not getting their act together yet. The apps that have been upgraded for the display look really nice!

No home button, no problem. I didn't even bother with the "virtual home button" trick. I actually like the swiping, the gestures with the phone. This may be my favorite feature on the phone. The swiping seems flawless and fluid. Few times in the first few hours by habit I kept moving my thumb to the home button...that isn't there, I expected that. I did see that some of the gestures will be enhanced, improved on 11.2(?) Including a quick swipe from bottom left for app switcher. That would be a great improvement.

Basically everything you see in reviews here, YouTube, etc, I agree with.

The issue - and this is just due to MY own user experience - after owning the 6+ since 2014, the 8+ since September, 3 years of the larger iPhone, I'm simply just not used to the smaller size of the phone itself. Again, that's just me. BUT, it does feel great in my jeans pocket again (lol)..something I haven't had since iPhone 5. And yes it does feel good in my hand..if you are one that hates to walk around with a "naked phone" and need a case like myself, having a case with grip..and if you're careful, you're far less likely to drop it.

I think those who have owned the smaller iPhones...the 6, 6s, 7...this X would feel PERFECT!

I am slightly missing landscape mode on the home screen...yeah that's pretty small and petty.

Keyboard size may be the biggest issue I would have to overcome. The keys are smaller and almost squished together I feel, especially in vertical mode. (again it was mentioned on the forum, that large "dead space" at the bottom of the keyboard..yeah something needs to be done with this! Maybe it will..there has to be a reason why there is so much bank gray.) LITTLE better typing a text, email in landscape mode. What can I say, I have fat fingers.

Another issue I am running into is the phone does feel warmer compared to the 8+ using certain apps that have heavier graphics. Not sure if this is just me or what? Maps, messing around with YouTube. Taking video/photos the phone can feel a little warmer than I'm used to. This is something I haven't experienced with the 8+ in two months.

Photos/Video. Both take great footage. Daytime, even dawn/dusk shots look nice. No real news here, dark nighttime shots..eh. I'm talking about a dark street with perhaps 1, 2 street lights.

Even using the phone on a mini tripod with camera apps where you can take control of exposure settings and adjust ISO (higher ISO for dark environments - shows very slight improvements at best) I HAVE seen shots taken in dark settings - with much different lighting / in the middle of the a city, stage lighting like a concert, night shots in Times Sq. NYC...and well, that's different, those shots, videos are far more impressive. Personally I have yet to try the camera in these kind of settings though. Hoping to get into downtown Philly in the next few days and try that out.

Battery..it's already been mentioned many times here the 8+ is better and I agree. I took both phones at 100% and did a 12 min time-lapse last night. When I was finished, the X (felt warmer like I mentioned) and showed a battery at 91%, the iPhone 8+...showed 98% which is insanely impressive I think. Quality of the HD video on both phones..equality nice. A nice benefit of the X taking video...the stabilization. It's not perfect, but it's better.

Again..still up in the air whether I should keep the X or not, My own issues are very minor compared to others. And again...for those who hate...and I do mean HATE the "notch," I admit I was wrong and made a big deal about nothing. * My own feeling about it, I know others notice that no matter what. I have time to decide.

Point blank, BOTH the 8+ and the X are beautiful devices!

As much as I like my X, when all is said and done it's just another iPhone and does little to change my daily experience compared to my SE other than the larger screen. If you are "bored" of your 8 plus (not sure why people quote GB like it matters) an X isn't going to light your fire. Face ID works well and is more convenient and the notch fades into nothing. Sounds to me like you just want the latest and are looking for reasons to spend money. Given that it's your money, your life, and ultimately for your taste and enjoyment, get it or don't get it, you shouldn't need a forum to decide for you.
