Right? Lol.
https://www.google.com/amp/s/techcr...search-chief-john-giannandrea-steps-down/amp/
There’s a link to an article a year ago, when Google lost their damn chief of AI & Search (arguably, the highest position at Google, below CEO), to Apple.
Yeah... notice the extreme LACK of paranoia in the article, claiming that Google would now fail.

It boggles the mind why people treat the same information so differently when the characters only difference is working for a different tech company.
People just don’t understand business, are just hating, and probably both. Unless Tim Cook or Luca Maestri leave, it’s basically a non story.

Tim Cook is a lifer, will be there till his deathbed. Im a believer in-time up top change, sometimes change of scenery is important

everyone collecting their vested stocks and going to be an advisor at another company for the same salary but working 10% the same
Legit I'd to the same. Be the "ideas man": give your piece of mind/advice, cool meetings, chill, life is good.

A lot of you also need to understand...corporate is a freaking grind, no matter how high you are on the food chain. It’s actually worse the higher you go. If this dude has made a ton of money, he might just want to live his life.

Not everything is the end of Apple.

Apple is the most successful business on earth.

totally agreed "everybody is replaceable"
so why some people think Tim is not replaceable
he should be the first one out the door

people that love services will love apple
people that love computers, devices etc
might not be so happy with apple lately
while many will still defend apple, others like me will simply call it like it is
no innovation and abandonware
that includes the Mac Pro and also let's promise and announce and not deliver air power
I think I said enough but I think I have some more things to say
let me just get it off my chest

can't wait to get rid of Tim, ever since he became apple CEO
the keynotes sucks big time, sorry but he doesn't have any charisma, he doesn't connect
at least not with me, apple is not like it used to be

hope someone comes alone that can turn this around
we need someone cool who also talks and understand technology
Tim just talk about percentage and numbers
sorry but that is the way I feel
nothing personal Tim, just business
[doublepost=1553964230][/doublepost]the reason why that man left is obvious
also the timing might be an indication
apple doesn't care about hardware anymore

now he is not even willing to talk about
certain numbers, like iphone numbers as much as he likes talking about numbers

Lol, I was honestly more concerned about Bruce Sewell leaving than this...

The chances of this one employee’s departure from Apple somehow slowing their work on custom chips are nil.
They are clearly accelerating in that space (what with rumors of them starting to design their own baseband chips & them releasing the brand new “h-series”, like a week ago!)
I’m pretty sure that team has some bright & talented.

They also probably knew he was leaving long before we did and have made arrangements. Change isn’t always bad either.

anyone who works at the same company their whole adult life is a loser with no ambition (in my opinion)

That's just silly! (in my opinion) Maybe this is the rule in Silicon Valley but we'd be in trouble if we did that everywhere.

I worked at the same hospital for 30 of my 37 working years. In that time I helped build a team of technicians (we maintained and repaired the medical equipment) from two people to a team of 6 that became second to none in NYC. There's such a thing as building an organization long term.

Hard to say... Having worked in the area a long time, I can say people come and go all the time at Silicon Valley companies, for a wide range of reasons. Not a biggie...
[doublepost=1553964807][/doublepost]

Why is that? I think it's been an outstanding week for Apple.

Of course you do.

Please, give me a break.

You guys overreact so hard.
Just as you do.

There are 7B people in the world and talent is readily available (though often not given opportunity). These guys may have had an impact at some point, at their prime, but I can guarantee you they probably have little to no impact on actual chip design today. It's good to rotate out the senior guys so that the young guns have motivation to keep innovating and be rewarded with promotions. Also, Apples arch and design is top notch, I don't expect that to change because of this.

It may seem like it will be hard to replace him, but with all the talent in silicon valley, it should be easy to find a replacement, and with a little time to get up to speed, they'll be right where they are now. Not a biggie.

I wonder what the main motivation of that decision is.
Leaving for the money, does the apple roadmap not fit with his point of view, personal motivation, it’s all guessing.

That his career coincides with apples successful A-series can be sensational journalism or can be real, probably something in between.

Personally, I think iOS took a nose dive after Scott Forstall left. I understand that he was the main guy behind iOS being what it is. He may have been difficult to manage, but Jobs understood his value and contribution and made it work. Every year, progress was made, until he left. Then it was flat this, and tiny feature that.

If this CPU architect guy is anything like that, Apple could lose its hardware advantage. As it is, Snapdragon SoCs have almost caught up.

Things aren't looking up for Apple at the moment.

Thank you and exactly. Their CPU design has been ESSENTIAL in maintaining a credible lead over competitors. Sure the App Ecosystem is equally if not even more important but honestly so many promises not delivered. I think the guy just wanted to leave the company on a positive note. And he likely will cash out on the stock.

I truly believe Apple May see a serious decline in market value this year. Just a feeling.

All regular employees “cash out the stock” the day they receive it, via same day sales. For tax and risk reasons.

Not as long as all their competitors are using Synopsys to compile verilog into netlists, they are not.

come on man, i know you know something about this but you really think apple is not using synthesis on the control logic in these designs? maybe for certain parts of the datapath apple are doing all the logic and layout by hand but there's just no way you'd design the whole thing that way.

if what you mean is that samsung is just buying encrypted verilog from ARM and turning the crank to get an ARM CPU, OK, yes. performance is going to suffer there.
