Except that he was the engineering VP, in charge of APIs and feature development, not visual or interaction design.

My god. I have gotten at least 20 quote notifications for that comment.

It was just a lighthearted jab at iOS 7, guys... no need to attack me. :apple:

Nice shout-out to the Palm Trio. Throwback Sunday? Yeah, everybody wants to relive those days :sarcasm:
Wha?

It's Palm Treo, not Trio. And the Palm OS never had a real file manager. So I don't even know what you're trying to talk about.

Enjoy!

Henri, enjoy your well deserved leisure. Thanks for all the Apple Goodness.

Be well!

Summary of thread: A guy that nobody has heard of before today is retiring, therefore Apple is doomed. Again.

Good, maybe they'll get rid of this clown UI and make something that looks more like iOS6, my only complaint with my iPhone my iPad Air is the darn goofy looking flat, sterile cartoon UI. Guess it's nice if you're a skinny jean wearing nancy, but not all us Apple users are.

All these people talking about iOS 7 being a failure...

Did you guys even read the article or just the title?

Some people here have no respect for other people, and are so quick to judge. iOS 7 is a great release and I think looks great. Redesigning an OS and some of its functionality is no easy task as it comes with its own sets of problems. I really hope those here who judge people like him lead perfect lives and never make any mistakes on anything.

When your "modern" OS redesign causes instrumental people to leave...

...you know it's been FUBAR'd.

Enough said.

iOS 7 has terrible designing but great engineering, and this guy is an engineer. Better than iOS 6 under the hood.

----------

He worked on Mac OS X. Respect

----------

Article said he retired after 23 years of service not because he was unhappy about iOS 7. God I'm sure he was unhappy with with Mac OS before OS X was developed. With your logic he would have quit then.

I HOPE he was unhappy with Lion (not Mountain Lion). It sucked.

I doubt iOS 7 caused him to quit. Personally I think iOS7 is the best iOS to date... yeah, it had a couple of bugs in the very beginning, but all major releases do and they were addressed easily.

Thank you - To the next stage of your life!

Henri - thank you for your commitment to making change.
Enjoy your retirement and I hope you find something that is personally satisfyingly equal to or greater than to what you did at Apple during the next stage of your life. After all... we only live once.

Employees come and go for various reasons, it's nothing to take so seriously. Now that Apple is old and mature, it's been proven that as long as the Apple logo is affixed, the product sells.
