My key take-away is that I have to sell my already over-mortgaged soul to get one and they will drop support in 6 years or less.
They continue to work just fine after six years as evidenced by my 2006 MacBook and 2011 Mac Mini.

You might consider tossing a $15 el-cheapo but breadcrumb-resistant external BT keyboard with you all the time to supplete your 7+ grand MBP.I guess they are not using pure elephant ivory recycled from used domino's for the keyboards now. GOOD!
I can't wait to get rid of this loud-ass computer. My wife has been going crazy listening to me type for nearly a year now. I hate hate hate this machine.
My old 2012 unit is still there - I really still miss it - but of course I wouldn't "downgrade" - but sheesh - what a nightmare this keyboard is. I just ordered the new one and the keyboard I hope is quiet.
Don't forget the same display resolution as the 2017, 2016, 2015, 2014, 2013, and 2012 Retina models (2560x1600 for the 13" and 2880x1800 for the 15").
It's sad to have to use a non-native resolution for more screen space on a $2,399+ Mac.
It's quite better than I expected for the 13" (and my guess is the folks who were complaining about the 15" got an even better upgrade).
In summary:
- Quad-core (vs dual core)
- True Tone
- Faster SSD (T2 chip)
- 20% increase in battery watt-hour capacity (& same weight)
- faster graphics (128MB of eDRAM vs 64MB)
Will likely wait for prices to drop a bit and upgrade my 2016 MBP (original butterfly, no problems so far ). My "old" MBP will be handed down to my son who is heading for college and still uses my old MBAir. He will enjoy the Retina display
Ewww. Only way to get a quad core 13” is to get the touchbar. Sticking with our 2015 model.
I find the touch bar extremely useful. I was a skeptic at first.

Also, they aren’t a charity or something, they are a for profit company, and their profit source isn’t selling user data piece by piece to advertisers.

It's not like those of us complaining about price lack the basic understanding of how a business works...
Not every complaint about price is some expectation that the precious Apple give us **** for free. It's pretty simple. The old 13" MBP used to start around $1300, now it starts at $1800 for a current model. The old 15" started at $2000 (mine cost that in 2015). An equivalent model costs $2400. There's been a huge markup on these models compared to Apple's own pricing of the past for what many view as less functionality and usability.
When is Apple going to release something people can actually afford?

Apple gave you EXACTLY what you kept asking for and you just don’t let up.

I assume Tim wanted to build a machine that only he can afford - not his fellow Board members.
(to conclude that it doesn't sell very well, so he can kill off the Mac that he hates so much)

Could anyone tell me if I can upgrade the RAM and/or SDD of a 15inch macbook pro AFTER being purchased? like, in an official Apple way (?)
If the non-official (user based) upgrade is possible I would like to know to.
Anybody? Please = )
And the whining continues. Apple gave you EXACTLY what you kept asking for and you just don’t let up. Since 2016 it’s all been about 32g RAM and how the computer wasn’t fast enough. They’ve done it but of course it’s still not good enough for you. Then of course there’s the shock of the price. It shouldn’t be a surprise because realistically, you would be stupid and moronic to think that Apple would be dropping prices.
