I wish we got to the point where we didn't need cases for phones. All the design aesthetic kind of goes out the window once we put a rubber on it.

The best reason for using OLED is that black pixels are truly black, i.e. no LCD backlight making things bright. If done right, you won't be able to tell where the display ends, like on the Apple Watch.

Well the best reason is so the phone doesn't become pointless outside. iPhone (and iPads) are horrible, for me, to use outside, sunlight completely washes it out. It's one of the reason I gave up on the idea of using it as GPS (that and the overheating issue). An OLED screen should fix that.

Good choice to give them all black faces, that said I would go for the black one as I usually do anyway.

Blush Gold though, dear me.. and I though calling the pink phone 'Rose Gold' was bad, at least Rose Gold is actually a real thing..

KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has a new prediction about how Apple will design the front of the "iPhone X." Kuo believes that no matter the color of the device's casing, the front bezels will be black. This will ensure "better aesthetic design," hiding the front-facing camera sensors on the iPhone X's notch, which would otherwise stand out as little black dots on a white bezel.

This means that instead of white bezels on a silver or gold iPhone X (as seen above), Kuo argues that black bezels on every version of the new smartphone will better blend into the 5.8-inch OLED display and sensor notch. The iPhone X is expected to come in a limited number of colors, including silver, "blush gold", and black.

The same report highlights the "biggest selling point" of the new OLED iPhone X -- 3D sensing -- including a break down of all the components that will be working together on the front-facing sensor bar. From left to right there's the structured light receiver, proximity sensor, ambient light sensor, front camera, and structured light transmitter. Kuo noted that the ambient light sensor is not directly required for 3D sensing, although it can help to improve 3D sensing performance in some capacity.

The report further breaks down these sensors, and offers an analysis of the source of each module. The structured light transmitter module was made by LG Innotek, includes a vertical-cavity surface-emitting laser designed by Lumentum, and has half a dozen other individual components: epitaxial wafers, diffractive optical element, wafer level optical, filter, and active alignment equipment.

The report closes with predictions for some of the most popular and "important" applications for 3D sensing: using facial recognition software to replace fingerprint recognition, and a "better selfie user experience." The official reveal of the iPhone X is just three days away, with Apple's event in Cupertino set to kick off at 10:00 a.m. local time on September 12.

[doublepost=1505043770][/doublepost]Shame this update appears to be a bezel to bezel display - not Edge to Edge as originally envisaged..Think the Samsung Infinity display looks better...And £1000+ seems idiotically for a phone...

I think it's the opposite. The only area where LCD outperforms OLED in terms of brightness and visibility is outside.

I think Galaxy does have same thickness of edge but because it have curved sides, the bezel appears minimal. As for the idiotic price I believe you will be presented with the option to buy a cheaper one but not with the same display technology.

The Silver iPhone X will be the best throwback to the original iPhone having a black front instead of white:

Couldn't agree more! I said the same thing to myself once I read that all the front bezels will be black. Will also be a nice change from the Matte Black I have on my iPhone 7 Plus

Little off topic, but it just occurred to me, how will we be able to take screenshots on the new iPhone when the home button is gone?

Sweet! I've always wanted this, liked the lighter look of the aluminum but not in exchange for a white bezel that lets you see the camera and sensors.

It's aptly named to describe the increased facial bloodflow as a result of your sympathetic nervous system response to the strong embarrassment felt when asking for this colour of iPhone.

I really hate how accurate Kuo's record is lol. Please tell me he's been wrong in the past. In any case, it will be a beautiful phone. I definitely see where people are coming from though, the black front is sleek. But the white border, highlighted the notch and helped set it apart from everything else. It highlighted it's newness, in its own unique way.

With all due respect, that's just stupid. The *bezel* can be whatever color best matched the 360 degree, X-, Y-, Z- rotation of the body of the phone. The sensor cutout can be black without even beginning to touch the color of the bezel. It's everything *inside* the bezel that is integral to the appearance of the screen.

K so basically it will still have bezels (and) most likely at the same size as on the dummy phones just it won't by white like most people thought? Nice but not nice enough and definitely not as nice as my Note 8. And the camera if it does look anything like what is on those dummy phones looks like a Lego piece sticking out the back.

I'd like to have a white bezel option.
There might be an option to do this via a colored tempered glass screen protector. I have seen some prototyped but I'm not sure now if they will be sold. We shall see. I like the unique look of the white bezels but agree with the people who think black looks better overall.
