So a non-feature feature? Disappointing. I was looking forward to inductive charging. If this report is true then it looks like that may not be realized until the next iPhone iteration.

i'm always careful with an Apple 1.0 product and usually wait awhile. For example first iPhone was the 3GS, iPad 3, Apple TV3 etc.
The watch ? not there yet as i dont need it, but hey never say never but if they announce a new Apple TV ? Not gonna touch it until iFixIt tear it down.
I usually am wary, too, but I jumped on the Apple Watch right from the start and I loved it. I still have it, it's still great. My daughter who plays soccer is now wearing it a lot. I now have a Series 2 Nike watch for swimming and for the style.

I've not yet heard anything to scare me away from the IPhone X, however I've heard enough now to also have a growing enthusiasm for the IPhone 8 Plus, too.

It'll be announced today as "Available Later This Year" and finally be available to purchase in December only to trickle out slowly to Apple Stores and then other stores. The AirPod fiasco all over again.

Why go with new technology or even announce a new product if it's not going to be widely available for 9-12 months? Something isn't right. Are these guys just throwing crap at the wall and seeing what sticks and then scrambling to manufacture stuff? That seems like a silly way to do things.

Following the gaming industry. Pre order now! Lol

Behind the scenes, launches are always chaos. I do think Apple is reaching technically lately to try and keep up with competition.

More likely Apple needs more time to figure out how to rip people off with some unnecessarily proprietary solution.

Heaven forbid the customer have the ability to charge an iPhone on a Samsung pad they probably already own.

Does anyone else think Apples is shooting themselves in the head with the release? I can’t help but think a large percentage of reliable customers will not be happy unless they get an X. By creating a new tier that seems like it will have limited availability they are sure to reduce sales of iPhone 8 models.

i do need a new iPhone as my 6 doesnt accept the charging cord readily anymore due to me having a restless sleep one night and violently dislodging it from my bedside table.
i'll be up in about 5 hours and watch the event. Speaking of which gonna hit the hay as i gotta get some sleep i guess :)

Good night! Lol, I'm here on the east coast of USA having breakfast. The Keynote will be during my lunchtime. I love forums like this where I can chat with people on the other side of the world!

Wireless charging is awesome! I use nothing else now on my Samsung, I can't wait to have it on my iPhone.

Not to mention he's probably too busy CEOing to worry about the supply chain personally ;)
Apple seems more invested in its social activism than its core business innovation ever since TC took reins.

LOLOL nobody owns a Samesung pad
I have one from my Galaxy S8 (leftover Bestbuy freebie from my S7).

If 3rd party Qi chargers will work then that's a big plus as I've got a few old Nokia ones lying around that I could put back into use :)

I think they said they would. But Apple wants them to be iPhone certified. Not sure what would happen if you had one from another device like and tried to use it.

Yeah a bit unsettling. I mean if there is no inductive charging, no Touch ID (not 100% sold on Face ID but not a deal killer) I'm wondering what the X IS going to have other than a sexy reduced bezel OLED screen. If that is essentially it then what is the price differential between the 8+ and X and is that mostly padding for an unwanted iCloud and Apple Music subscription.

Hopefully there is not-yet leaked feature there. I'm quickly going from "take my money," to "show me what you got and earn your pay." I'm hoping iCloud and Apple Music is not the big feature of the X.

Apple should be ashamed but you guys who are complaining will surely wait for one and still buy it with all of your heart's desire. Ashame.....

Just like the last 2 or 3!

More than that. Remember the one where Jobs was showing off (I think) iPhoto and the WiFi went out and you could see the steam wafting from his head. These are not made for Hollywood events where everything can be perfect because it's fake. This is all real. Can't expect perfection. Who hasn't given a presentation where everything wasn't completely baked.

Never understood the hype about wireless charging. If I can't use the phone while charging, that's not very practical. I'll rather take the extra second to plug in the lightning cable. Now if we could get "quick charging", I'd rather pay extra for that than wireless.

Something just doesn’t add up. I mean short of Apple holding out for actual short range wireless charging (as in, no contact whatsoever) as was rumoured some time ago. Are we really suggesting that one of the biggest electronics manufacturers in the world couldn’t knock out an inductive charger?

Something they already have on one of their products, something an engineering intern could have knocked up for them in the space of a few weeks. Something they had to have had internally to test the feature if it exists.

So yeah, even if the technological breakthrough part is Apple’s primary goal, such as the aforementioned truly wireless charging. Why on earth wouldn’t the, we want all of your money company, put out an own-brand inductive charger in the interim? It just doesn’t make sense to me. But then I am easily confused at the moment..... Back to Pink Floyd I go :D

Why should Apple be ashamed here? It made no promises regarding inductive charging availability. It's just something that has been in the rumor stream. Why should consumers that wait be ashamed? If it's something they want and they are not sacrificing their kid's dinner to buy it, who cares.
