Got both of phones today. @Applejuiced, just now waiting for swiftunlocks to process the unlock for the iPhone 7 I bought. The iPhone SE however I almost don't want to crack the seal yet. But the iPhone SE imei is only 14 digits on the box and they need the full 15 digits for the unlock. Decisions.. I'm torn. Lol

You have to crack it open bro.
Same thing happened with me.
On the box it has 14 digits.
Once you take the phone out and look in the back plate of the SE on the bottom it has the real IMEI number with an additional number at the end. 15 digits like it should be.

@Applejuiced, Once I get the unlock confirmation, can I erase the phone and reinstall the OS via iTunes and finish the process that way? That should give me the congrats message, correct?

You dont need to do all that.
Just put another carriers sim to test out the unlock if you want.
You dont always get the congratulations your phone is unlocked message with iTunes.
Sometimes it just shows it for 1 time the initial time after the unlock went through or other times it doesn't.
As long as it works and activates with another carriers sim then you know you're unlocked for good ;)

Decided to turn on the new SE and set it up while I was waiting for my unlock completed email. Connected the SE to iTunes and as soon as I did, I got the "Congratulations, your phone is unlocked" screen, without me taking out or replacing the SIM card. Still haven't gotten the confirmation email. Surprising.

Edited to add: Inserted my Verizon SIM and it works. Good deal for $33.42 to unlock.

Dang I am trying that as we speak to see if its unlocked already since I haven't gotten any emails yet either.

Update: mine still says SIM not supported. :( lol

I would bet good money, that the last digit (that you need and would be confirmed on the back of the phone) is a 4. Mine ended in a 4, and the last digit was 4 as well.

I called apple to get the last number of the IMEI and it was 9 on my iPhone SE. Lol

Good thing I didn't bet good money. lol

Can't seem to find a dirt cheap provider(Like Tello or Freedompop) that says my IMEI will work with a BYOD

For those of you that have used the discover price match for this type of thing before, do you know how long it generally takes them to review and approve/decline the refund? I bought an iPhone se from apple Tuesday night and started the price match process but the phone didn't show up on the credit card bill until this morning and once I finished the claim and submitted it, they said I'd hear back in 10-12 business days, which puts me outside of apple's 14 day warranty. I'm hoping they do it quicker, but since this is the first time I've ever used it, I have no idea.

I'd call them to check for sure.
My Citi card price rewind checks for 60 days so it takes longer to receive the credit.

For those who got the SE off the Boost Mobile site and wanted to use the phone for more than an iPod, (like me) download Talkatone from the app store. It will give you a free local number that you can use to send and receive free wifi calls and texts. And if you aren't connected to wifi when you receive a call, the sender has the option to leave a voice mail, which the Talkatone app will alert you to, once you connect to wifi again. You will also receive an email alert. If someone sends you a text when you are not connected to wifi, you will receive the text in the Talkatone app once you are connected to wifi again.

I have found the SE from the Boost Mobile site will not work as a BYOD to all of the MVO's I have tried, although you can still switch your current SIM when you want, provided you got the SE unlocked.

The OP returns.....lol. I lucked out waiting and got a 16GB for $95 and the 64GB for $125. Delivered yesterday. Just emailed that unlock site for an estimate. I was going to keep the 64GB model for myself selling the 16GB to hoping to cancel out the cost but man, unlocked, they both look like a nice flip. This model is missing one band for AT&T in the states, but it's great for overseas use. I sold an unlocked Sprint iPhone 6 for more than it was worth to someone who needed those bands. How fast is your guys turn around for getting it unlocked?

When I inputed my IMEI on the Ting site, it was flagged by Sprint (bill due). Ting contacted me. It seems, that when we purchased the phone, (me and others here) it shows as bill payment or bill due, because it was meant to be used with the Boost or Spring service for a year (contract phone?). In case others have trouble signing up with Ting, Freedompop etc. you will know why, and hopefully can get this resolved. I emailed proof of purchase to Ting just now. I hope that that takes care of this problem.

The following is the email I got this morning from Ting...

"I do apologize for the very delayed response, we have been much busier then anticipated.

Thank you so much for your patience while we worked with Sprint to determine the eligibility of your Apple iPhone SE Space Gray 64GB (MEID *************) to come to Ting.

Sprint advised that your phone was not active with them for a minimum term and so it cannot come to Ting. This sucks and I hate to be the bearer of bad news!

You have two options now:

1. If you bought the phone outright, you can respond back to me with a proof of purchase receipt and we can check with Sprint again. Otherwise, you will need to discuss your options for fully satisfying any financial obligations directly with Sprint on +1 (817) 698-4199. I know this is a lot of work for you, especially when we aim to make moving providers a clean and easy process.

2. If you are not the original owner of the phone and you bought it from eBay, Amazon, Craigslist or another third-party, I would recommend that you return the phone and seek a refund.

Feel free to respond directly to this email or else give us a shout on +1 (844) 841-5579 and we will happily explore some other alternatives with you if you're still interesting in giving Ting a chance."

What service did you use to get the phone unlocked ? I submitted mine last week on Wednesday and my phones are still locked. Lol

I am gonna give my guy until the end of this week to see if the unlock goes thru. If not, I will try the website you used.
Hope it goes through for you.

I am still waiting to hear back from Ting about the financial obligation note attached to the new iPhone SE. I hope they can get Sprint to remove the notation, seeing how the phone was paid in full. I don't recall seeing any obligation for service on the site, when purchasing said phone.

Yeah it shouldn't be a problem here since I want to use it on Verizon. Hoping this will go thru soon

My unlock from unlock4less went through for the 64GB model. I purchased one for the 16GB. I really need hot spot and unless someone can tell me a way to get hotspot working without jailbreak I can't take a break from Android without holding onto another phone when hot spot is needed. I may still do that but it is a pain to have to jump back and forth.

So it won't work on Sprint carriers(other than boost), but what about AT&T, T-Mobile, or Verizon?

Yes, many of those Sprint MVMO's will not activate it.
I dont know why you guys bother with those useless 3rd party carriers especially ones that run off Sprint:D
The phone once unlocked it will work on any gsm carrier in the world and also on Verizon.

You cannot get personal hotspot if your carrier does not include it with your plan with an iphone.
Only if you JB or you switch to a better carrier.
