When I inputed my IMEI on the Ting site, it was flagged by Sprint (bill due). Ting contacted me. It seems, that when we purchased the phone, (me and others here) it shows as bill payment or bill due, because it was meant to be used with the Boost or Spring service for a year (contract phone?). In case others have trouble signing up with Ting, Freedompop etc. you will know why, and hopefully can get this resolved. I emailed proof of purchase to Ting just now. I hope that that takes care of this problem.
The following is the email I got this morning from Ting...
"I do apologize for the very delayed response, we have been much busier then anticipated.
Thank you so much for your patience while we worked with Sprint to determine the eligibility of your Apple iPhone SE Space Gray 64GB (MEID *************) to come to Ting.
Sprint advised that your phone was not active with them for a minimum term and so it cannot come to Ting. This sucks and I hate to be the bearer of bad news!
You have two options now:
1. If you bought the phone outright, you can respond back to me with a proof of purchase receipt and we can check with Sprint again. Otherwise, you will need to discuss your options for fully satisfying any financial obligations directly with Sprint on +1 (817) 698-4199. I know this is a lot of work for you, especially when we aim to make moving providers a clean and easy process.
2. If you are not the original owner of the phone and you bought it from eBay, Amazon, Craigslist or another third-party, I would recommend that you return the phone and seek a refund.
Feel free to respond directly to this email or else give us a shout on +1 (844) 841-5579 and we will happily explore some other alternatives with you if you're still interesting in giving Ting a chance."
