Having such a weakspot (volume buttons) without proper reinforcement is an engineering oversight. I bet we'll see more reinforcement there with the 6S, just like the 4S fixed antennagate

Then why hasn't my plus bent when I have it out of the case?

Because not everybody puts their phone through the same stresses? The point is the older phones could withstand tougher conditions without fear of getting bent. With the 6+, some people's lifestyles, clothes, body types, etc. may cause the 6+ to get bent more easily

Then why isn't the number suppsedly significant

here is a website which is tracking ALL the bent phones:

http://www.oneofthenine.com/

I would have expected the number of be 100s on that website alone.

it just might be that some people abuse their phones more than others. If you abuse your phone get a case, because the material might be good for MOST users but there will be a few who are using the phone like a Nokia 3310 which this is not.

Well, of course we will see more reinforcement - to satisfy the ridiculous expectations of those intent on proving what a horrible phone the 6 is. And when the do release the 6s, or 7, or whatever they call it, you will see a host of even more ridiculous videos going to even farther extremes to prove how Apple didn't fix anything.

I have my doubts about there being only 9 phones bent. Companies are pretty good at obfuscating those kind of things.

And I agree people should use cases if they're worried about the phone. However, I also understand that one who didn't have to use a case in the past might not realize that the new phone may need one. I know I'm being more careful with my own phone after the bending stories came out. I never had to worry about my 4S though - the stainless steel frame is much stronger than the aluminum

This does not shock me in the least! Especially them being dumb enough to post the video showing their faces publicly.

I was actually going to go in to try it myself. I mean I never saw one bend but it definitely felt so slim that I felt like it might.

Edit; the video was removed... why?

This video would never exist if it weren't for the poor engineering from Apple and the cheap materials.

Or for the people who like to always be on the centre of attention and hype about issues that a tinny number of people is effected.

9, or 10 or 100 people got their phones bended while they sat with their fat a.... On it and this all the sudden becomes first world problem!!

People are stupid, period.

Welcome newbie. A bit late on the party but your friends are around ;)
Video was removed because teenagers filled their pants....

It would be quite horrifying to wake up one day with an iPhone bent. Even slightly.

In the video I saw, it looked like they didn't put much pressure on it.

But let's not forget. All of Apples stuff is subject to wear and tear. Especially their Lightning cables and EarPods.

Creating 90lbs of force with your hands is seriously hard. Watching kids and other do it in less than 10seconds, clearly shows is much less than 90lbs

You don't understand physics!

They applied force and twisting moment.

they didn't just apply a point load of 90lb

I think I would need a whole week to be able to explain and for you to understand this.

You car will also have crumble points, so yeah it will bend, though how is this relevant to the iphone that is not suppose to bend???

If you purposely try with all your might to bend a phone it will bend. If you crash a car it will bend. Discussion over. Class dismissed.

Hahahahahha

They r all coming on here like cockroaches looking for rubbish.

News of bendgate are drying up and they need to hang on to something before the mighty fall of Samsung profits...

Seriously problem these night bending ghosts...

If you could kindly post your lengthy explanation, it would be much appreciated. Curious, could a 6 year old child bend the iphone with only their hands at its weak point?

Don't know, but they sure could snap in half that cheap backcover on the Samsung S5

Seen one doing it

Pressure and force are two different things.

But pressure and force are both required to bend an iPhone.

CR specifically said 90 lbs force, not 90 pounds per square inch pressure

What CR said doesn't negate physics. It's easier to apply 90 lbs of force if you bend a certain way because you can direct the pressure, focusing the application of force on your fingers, and using your hands a a lever.

See if it works...

I'll come back later

Don't feed the roaches in the meantime!

What's worse, the website is already pumping up its numbers by posting pictures of deliberately bent phones in Apple stores, not excluding them for people who genuinely own the phones and had them break through normal use, or even by sitting. We get it: you can deliberately break something.

Even so, the number stands at 23 as of this writing. I too, would've expected hundreds by now.

This whole bendgate things has gotten untterly, ridiculously out of control.

Does the design and thinness of the phone allow for the possibility of bending? Yes.

Could there be some actual instances where that happens from keeping it in a pocket, like one does with a phone?
Yes.

Could the design also not be friendly to putting the phone in one's back pocket and sitting on it, someone being a girthy person or not?
Yes.

Will Apple have a huge issue on their hands?
I can't say. Why? Because taking a phone, and forcefully and deliberately doing dmamge to it is not the same as allowing the damage to occur through everyday use, over time.

If there is a more widespread issue, then time will tell. But taking the phone and contorting and twisting and forcing it to bend will, indeed, make it bend.

So all this video does is prove that these morons set out to do exactly what they wanted to do. Their intent was to damage it, so they did.

It answers nothing other than if you try real damn hard to bend the aluminum iPhone 6+, that it will - SHOCK OF SHOCKS! - bend.

A 6 year old kid could smash your TV LCD panel as well, whats the point in that nonsense here? You can destroy every smartphone
It looks like you need some force to do it and thats the proof its nonsense, i can push your a dent in your car as well

How did we get from the concern a few people had that their phones bent in their pockets...

...to people going into stores and deliberately breaking phones with their hands?

What's the step in the middle?

calling unbox therapies videos fake. Walking into apple store and bending theirs proves its a real unit. Well you did ask :)
