You're funny. You should read what you actually wrote. If you can't handle some playful insults you shouldn't go into any forum. Obviously I wasn't the only one who took exception to your posts. Seriously, we don't need more angry women in the world! Just chill!

Actually, if you read my OP, it's an innocent, nice request for some advice. I wasn't the one who started to get nasty at all. I immediately started getting rude, sarcastic responses to an innocuous question I was hoping to get some help on.

As to the angry women comment, well, combine that with the b**** comment and I'm not sure I care about your opinion anyway. You come off sounding misogynistic.

I did get some really nice PMs about people's rude responses, so I made some friends out of it, and also made my decision. For some people, it helps to think out loud and read some other opinions. That's all I was going for.

If anything, I'm sorry I was baited by the people who can't be courteous to strangers.

HAHA, my wife would probably agree with you! Okay, but seriously, I just bought the new Macbook Pro and I love it so far. I looked at the Macbooks but I would rather stick with the Pro model for the larger screen, firewire etc.

I'm sure you would be happy with a Macbook. The return fee sucks, but in the end, I think you'll be happier with the smaller Macbook. It's slightly more portable, and noticeably lighter. If i travelled with my laptop a lot, which I don't, I'd go with a macbook for sure (Unless you need good graphics, and firewire).

I really have no reason to apologize since it's just the internet, but I do feel slightly bad for giving you a hard time. It was mostly because you're from boston though, and I was upset at the red sox comeback against the rays. Don't take it personally. I dislike you because you represent Boston, not because of your gender.

Enjoy your Macbook!

lol, ivy league grad student my ass.

No, I said I was an Ivy League *grad*, and a grad student. That means I've already graduated from an Ivy League university, see? I'm a grad student elsewhere. I am really tempted to PM you a scan of my diploma, but it's really not worth it.

Thanks man. I appreciate the nicer sentiment, really. I apologize for attacking back, if I insulted you at all. I was just surprised at people's reactions. I'm okay with being hated because of my hometown. ;)

Are you a Rays fan? That was an amazing game, regardless.

Take it from the man himself, Herb Cohen. Anything is negotiable. Don't accept anything less than a full refund. Sure, their "policy" states the 10% restocking fee, but if you push hard enough, you'll get what you want.

My advice would be to go to the Apple Store you purchased it from and be honest about your situation - that you love the new MacBooks, but are returning it because it's too heavy for you and is causing back pains. The fact that you are purchasing a MacBook instead shows your honesty and intention to purchase, so I'm pretty sure that someone will be sympathetic enough about your situation. From an economics standpoint, the loss they absorb from selling an opened product I imagine is less than the margin they make on the MacBooks, so it's a win-win situation for both parties. If they are stubborn about it, insist you speak to the manager and explain your situation in greater detail. Whatever it is, don't settle for anything less like selling it on Craigslist or whatever. Be persistent, get ALL your money back and get that MacBook!

I am thinking about going back to the Apple store and getting the high end MacBook. I bought the low end MacBook yesterday but now I find myself wanting to sell my iMac, and making my MB my primary and only computer. The extra HD space, extra GHz, and backlit keyboard will be well worth paying the extra $$ for me, however, what's holding me back from doing this is the restocking fee. I am gonna give it a try tomorrow and see if they will let me upgrade without paying the fee.

Thanks for your post.

I do think VERY highly of the 2.4gHz Macbook. I haven't quite nailed down the most graphics intense hobby or work you perform?

It's just that restocking fee is a killer. Sometimes calling Apple will help you make your decision. Explore how easy it is to convince them to wave the restocking fee and make your decision from there.

Pardon all the negativity in this thread. All these guys are still worked up regarding what to do with their tiny FW400 cord.
