Happen to be reading a book on the Kindle app right now. Yes, it's the same.

I was thinking of keeping my Kindle around but after using my iPad for a bit, I think the Kindle is going bye-bye.

My Kindle 2 was sold on eBay the night before iPad released :p
I got back $230... not too shabby

Kindle App Better than iBooks

Have you tried both the Kindle iPad app and iBooks?

The iBooks typography is very disappointing. Page is too hot (too white).

Surprised to see the book viewing implementation to be of such poor quality (on an Apple scale). I'm not a Kindle person, never liked eBooks, yet I find the Kindle for iPad app really pleasurable to read.

Anyone else find the iBook reading quality to be a disappointment?

It should make your eyes go "aaaahhhh..." yet it definitely doesn't.

I like the Kindle for iPhone app (use it on my touch, every day), including page color. haven't seen the iPad yet, but I understand exactly what you are saying. send feedback to Apple

For me, both are good to read... the problem so far with iBooks is its store... lacking in titles that I want. Other than that it's fine for me at least.

I'm finishing up 2 unread books from my Kindle days anyway

if u like mysteries, have u tried the Steven James novels? I'm on my third one now: 1) The Pawn, 2) The Rook, 3) The Knight.

unreadable

The iBooks reading is visually crap. Designer's did not follow best practices. Prepare for retina burn after a while. Disappointing typography... and from _Apple_, wow.

The Kindle for iPad app's readability is surprisingly superior.

Reading an eBook should make your eyes go "aaaahhhhh"... and the iBook reading experience does not prompt this.

Unfortunately, I usually don't read fiction books...
That is probably part of the reason why if you see my "next reading list" below, there's only 1 or 2 that's available on iBookstore at the moment. Hopefully it will improve, though

The Kindle app hurt my eyes until I found out how to change the background to sepia. That makes it not so bright but gives a nice contrast to black. If the iPad version of the Kindle app works as well as the iPhone version, I think I'm going to stick to the Kindle store, especially since you can sync books between iPad, iPhone and computers.
