Ummm, so the male characters say stuff like "out of my way" and "witness my powers" while the females say "come to my aid" and "my turn" while striking dancer poses. LOL - can we not do better than that?

I have been hoping for games like this to be added. Long gone are the games where you just turn it on and start playing. I don't have time to watch 30 minutes of an intro to show me how to play and what the plot is.
Then warframe is for youuuuuu

I have Apple Arcade and love it! My new ultimate AppleTV 4K paired with an Xbox Series One X controller is the best game console money can buy! It helps that it's even cheaper than the competition!
Why? What you playing? I have it for 9 months and besides taiko its been weak and meh.

No need to learn the name when there is AppleTV on the market. Every other console is finished.
I know. My XBox, PlayStation and Switch are all refusing to turn on. The AppleTV is dominating the gaming market. It even steals the controllers from other platforms to itself.

AAA games from AAA publishers (Konami) is what Apple Arcade should have strived for since the beginning.

Is it me or do the graphics for this look worse than the original style on NES? It looks like bad CGI where you clearly distinguish between the interactive elements and the background
It’s not just you, but it’s not really anybody’s fault. I used to design SNES graphics back in the day, and it’s was just so incredibly easy. The low resolution and poor quality TVs hid so much that 90% of what the player sees is just detail filled in by their imagination. Now with retina screens there’s so much clarity but developer budgets usually can’t stretch to handcrafting every pixel like we used to, so we get this. It’s still put together by talented people, but it feels simplistic and bland.

I see what you mean but still think it could be done differently and have a less "artificially clean" look. Can't just blame modern displays for how the artstyle looks, can we? :)

Agreed. There is something about this blown-up pseudo pixel-art style of tons of these remastered titles that just doesn't work. The real pixel art from the 8-bit era had some authenticity to it and the limits of the graphics were the actual limits of the technology at the time (may that be the bit depth, the resolution or the number of sprites). Now, this art style isn't like that at all. Everything that used to be a charming trick in the past now just feels like laziness (and it probably is just that). Repetitive maps and obvious, inelegant tiling were something you gladly accepted when there was literally just 2 KB of RAM available, but it seems like a joke in a time when you could fit literally every single game that was released on SNES and NES ever in the RAM.

I honestly think it would be better if they'd just stick to actual low-res pixel art like a lot of indie titles do. No weird mixture with high-resolution particle effects, TrueType fonts or whatever. It looks far cleaner.

As someone who has been playing video games since late 70’s … original 8-bit stuff may have some nostalgic value but otherwise let’s be realistic; It looks awful in 2021.

Well, I just got it but Ballistic Baseball and Spelldrifter have been my go-tos so far. I'm sure I'll find others. Also Oceanhorn 2 has been fun and a throwback to the Zelda N64 games. If you change your gaming mindset from "it needs the best graphics and highest production qualities" to going into it with an open mind and thinking "I just game for fun" - it's the console for you.

You sound like you have a problem with the AppleTV using the Xbox and PS controllers. I'll give credit where credit is due, the amount of years and R&D that have gone into making them the perfect gaming controllers gives Apple no reason to try and make their own.

The Switch is the only other gaming product that I may consider for it's portability. Gaming on iPhones is frustrating without physical buttons.

No, I have no problem with Apple supporting other controllers. It is smart.

I have to admit that I thought you were just trolling with “No need to learn the name when there is AppleTV on the market. Every other console is finished.”

But looks like you are actually seriously saying that AppleTV is the best gaming console in the market?

For casual gamers, yes. We honestly don’t enjoy AAA games. I like just playing for twenty minutes to half an hour, and as long as I have fun and can zone out for a little bit, that’s all I ask for.

Apple Arcade is a great service for us. And it’s only getting better!

I will check them out thanks. But, I’m sorry but I’m going to have to disagree on the rest. If they had thousands of games for $5 a month sure. Any of those lower graphics lower production quality games used to be $1-2. So not worth it. There are only what 200? its not worth it. At this time they should charge $1 or free to all iOS devices for a year to get a base of players and make it more attractive to gaming companies. I have an M1 12” iPad and none of these games look good for 2021 to pay $5 (also have ATv and iPhones). I’m enjoying playing gamecube games on my iPad more than any of the games in apple arcade except taiko. If they grow and have good titles then it will be worth it but not for the price so far and the growth has been too slow to keep a base of players on a monthly sub. $5 it’s just too much for what they offer atm. I still have like 7 more moths free but if my sub got canceled then I would say whatever. So far as a gamer this has been a failure.

i still enjoy Mario 3 :p
but you should know this castlevania is not 8 bit nor its made to look 8 bit. It’s just a 2d scroller.

$5 a month is the price, and the only thing I think of that is not what it should be, but accept it and find the value more than worth it for these games. Yes, many of the games feel like iOS cheapo games, but there are quite a bit of great quality, fun games. I really haven’t noticed the difference nor do I care about graphics since the PS2 -> PS3 generation. I care about fun!

I would check out Oceanhorn 2, Shinsekai Into the Depths, Manifold Garden, Mutazione, Beyond a Steel Sky, The Pathless, Creaks, Fantasian, and Baldo will be out later this month. These aren’t cheap throwaway games, and if people think that then that’s their loss. Way more gems on the service than this as well.

It will combine with other consoles and become mecha-console. Just need Steam Link, Game Pass, and PS Remote Play.

Yeah. I think it needs at least twice the number of high quality games to be taken seriously, but there are some great games on the service. I feel it will get there, just takes time to hit their stride. I guess it has also been hard to attract games without allowing IAP.

$5 is too much for the quality of the apple arcade games. Amazon has apple beat in terms of game quality for an extra $1 https://www.amazon.com/luna/landing-page?ref=MarsFS_Gaming_lunampage
