The iPhone 5S/SE1 design ran from 2013 to 2018 before being discontinued.

The iPhone 6/6S/7/8/SE2 was released in 2014, so next year that design would've been around for eight years.

I think they should make the SE3 look like the iPhone 12.

it’s using the 4.7 inch classic design. That is what part of the SE” branding is about

Another f boring phone with the old touch button, sigh.

I bought the SE 2020, i had hope for the SE 3 (Getting rid of the old case and button) and again in 2022 they will be using the same old model.

They do not have disagrace but we all know that at this point. Good luck selling them...
There are a number of people who like not having a huge phone. I'm one of them. I don't need Face ID and I don't want expensive, under-screen technology that may or may not work reliably.

The iPhone 6 was good enough that they've used the basic design and some of us are fine with it. I'm still using my iPhone 7 case on my 2020 iPhone SE.

The one thing I'd like to see is a display with 1920x1080 dimensions, even if it's an option.

One of the great points of the old style design is that it doesn’t look like an expensive iPhone. I love that my SE2 isn’t instantly desirable to a thief at the beach while I’m in the water, or if I leave it on my desk and walk away absentmindedly. (And even if it is taken, it didn’t cost so much that I’ll spend the next week crying).

With that and TouchID for the increased convenience when paying in store in there as well, I’d love the design to live on.

5g would be a reason to bring in the 8 Plus body shell for an SE Plus 2022. The bigger battery would offset the extra power drain and would allow Apple to potentially eliminate the 11 along with the Xr.

They could keep the existing SE 2020 model at the bottom of the range leaving us a September 2021 iPhone range that starts thus:

A13 SE2020: 399 - 4.7"
A13 11: 499 6.1" - (or A15 SE Plus 2022 in March 2022? 5.5")
A14 12 mini: 599 - 5.4" - (or A15 SE Plus 2022 in March 2022? 5.5")
A14 12: 699 6.1" (iPhone 13 mini?)
A15 13: 799 6.1"

I've not bothered going into the the Pro models and pricing is in UK pounds but all relative anyway as we're just covering the bases. The Xr would have have gone anyway in September but the 11 might have to be removed from sales early instead of settling into the 499 bracket that an A13 powered SE Plus 2022 could inhabit.

The 599 bracket is the difficult one to call as Apple could have theoretically dropped the 12 mini into that slot. Production was alleged to have stopped on the 12mini, potentially because it was being discontinued, but could Apple have merely decided to pause production due to overestimation of demand?

599 could also be where an A15 powered SE Plus could land - replacing the 12mini. The 8 Plus body shell would look dated next to the 12mini which it could supersede.

Apple might also decide that they don't want 2 mini models in the range and would opt to fully discontinue the 12mini because there's going to be a 13 mini.

If there's going to be a 13 mini I would suggest one thing that they do to resolve the reported battery life issues (partly driven by 5g) is to make it thicker while retaining the front facing pocketable profile.

Mixed feelings about this, if true. It’ll be 2022 and the chassis will be from 2014.

The A15 & modem had better be very power efficient to fit in a chassis designed to run a 4g modem.

My dream lower cost device would be a shrunken down 5G LCD iPhone 11, more similar in size to the 11 pro, with the Touch ID button from the IPA.

Apple, if you’re listening…

The Plus sized phones used precisely the 1920x1080 resolution.

the modem will probably be the Snapdragon X60 since the 13 lineup is expected to get this as well but even for 4G it will be tons better than the Intel Modem current SE Uses and power saving than the Intel Modems

Yup, the 2022 iPhone SE will be the sixth iPhone that is using practically the same design of the iPhone 6. If that doesn’t show how what a clueless, lazy, non-innovative, MBA suit Tim Cook is, I don’t know what does.

Since you speak for all of us, tell me, how are the sales of the iPhone 12 mini in contrast to the 2020 iPhone SE?

I've been very underwhelmed when people describe it to me. Better-suited to crowded venues, maybe? But is the speed necessary otherwise?
I already know a wired connection is faster than 5g and I've not heard of any killer feature on a wired connection.

I'm all for an updated SE with 5G, but they really need to update the design - the iPhone 7/8 form factor is horribly dated at this point.

The iPhone SE 2020 is my best purchase of last year. It's great in the hand, it's very productive and the price is great. At some points I don't even understand why I need a more expensive phone.

Us Apple stock holders would really appreciate you reconsidering that no expensive iPhone position /s

Actually, I'd like to see a "refresh" of the iPhone SE (2020) with a new, lower-power radio modem chip to support 5G and UWB. And a new battery pack with more mAh capacity.

The 2020 SE is still good because it's the only iPhone left without the ugly notch / rounded screen. It's the main reason why I got it over the mini 12 (had to replace my old SE because of battery/performance, still my favorite design though).

New is not necessarily always better. Thankfully they seemed to have realized this with the Macbooks and are walking back all of their awful changes.

I think I’ve spotted my next iPhone, as my 2 year old iPhone 8 is suddenly acting fluky even with 95% battery health.
