Kuo: 2024 Apple Watch 'Unlikely' to Have 'Significant' Innovation

You say that as though major hardware and in particular health hardware features are casually placed on schedule.

The watch rarely receives any notable hardware features, so if they have world-first glucose monitoring on a wrist, they’ll make it available ASAP.

And no, glucose monitoring will almost certainly not be ready in the next few years. You’re looking closer to 2030 best case.
Of course features are scheduled, by most accounts years in advance. Although I appreciate that blood glucose is a different consideration as it’s cutting edge. Perhaps 2025 is optimistic for that one. My point was meant to highlight my frustration in Apple drip feeding upgrades to their products, although probably didn’t come across as intended

That makes no sense at all. Sitting on an innovative new feature would just give the competition a hand.
They could have designed a new form factor years ago. I didn’t say they wouldn’t release a blood glucose monitor when ready

I don’t mind waiting until 2025 if it means a new form factor and blood glucose monitor. That would be a killer watch. Although I’m worried of course that Apple wouldn’t release both those features at once so as to make you upgrade the following year, too
The form factor is perfect, it’s it’s unlikely to change (it’s a watch). Apple is nowhere near releasing glucose monitoring, so don’t wait for that. It surely won’t be ready for 2025 or 2026.

With conventional Moore's laws limit hit, thermal constraints hit, battery constraints hit, I don't think we'll see any innovation in Apple devices (or competitors) for a long, long time.

The 45 year tech fiesta is over for now

What I would want in a new watch is:

1. Flat glass like the ultra.
2. Thinner
3. Longer battery life
4. Keep compatibility with existing bands
5. Higher scratch resistance for the aluminum casing

I do feel next year we’ll see a revision to the chassis of the Apple Watch.

It’s such a simple design it’s hard to really alter much but it wouldn’t surprise me if they flatten the display, make the display larger and squeeze in a slightly larger battery with the space gained.

I can’t see it getting any thinner. Bands will still be compatible. Maybe we’ll also see some even thinner bezels. The rear may also see some reworking.

Definitely, a flat screen should provide more battery space.

Recently there were some rumors that the bands would use a different attachment system. But I think that came from Kuo. But he is not as accurate as he used to be.

This is basically every Apple product now

They have become incredibly boring and unimaginative
Or perhaps some people expect something groundbreaking year after year? Most people don't buy a new watch all the time. If your average person upgrades from a Series 5 to an 8, is that not interesting or imaginative? Seriously, people need to calm down. Apple has never, at any point in its history, done massive updates year after year.

The phrase unlikely to offer "significant innovative experiences," should be standard issue for most Apple products. We’d be lucky if we get new colors usb c or thinner bezel.
I find these kind of complaints hilarious. What in such a mature product do you want them to do Make a phone that walks around, flies?

Beyond making battery, screen, cameras better and such is there left to do?

Sigh you really should go beyond your Apple eco bubble and look at what other manufacturers are doing. Apple is not at the cutting edge of battery screen and cam tech these days. For the watch we need battery that lasts a week instead of ever thinner case. This opens up the watch to do continuous monitoring. Like a whoop or a Huawei smartwatch. Ok you may say not everyone needs that. But why don’t we differentiate the ultra from the non ultra Apple Watch? But no, the ultra is basically an Apple Watch with a few more hours of battery life.

The iPhone 16 is rumoured to have a 5x zoom. Android phones had that forever ago. How about quick charging?
Given they run Android, which I have no intention of using what they have isn't relevant to me.

BTW the iPhone 15 Pro Max already has 5x zoom...
