I have a Galaxy Book Pro 15.6" OLED. It was pretty cheap with trade in, at around $400. It replaces my M1 Air, as it's considerably easier on the eyes. ( It also weighs on 2.3lbs, and it's a 15.6"!!. Intel gen 11.)

Point is: This cheap OLED is better than what they have now in the Air. Granted it's only HD, but at that size it doesn't seem to matter. Maybe for some things, don't know.

Certain things need to happen or fall in line to maintain launch plans. The rumor of Samsung not agreeing to make these for apple is very relevant. Apple can’t just wave a magic wand (although it’s on them to make it happen). If there was another supplier option no doubt apple already explored it.

Perhaps oled isn’t viewed as essential enough for apple to make it happen with iPads. Regardless I’d want mini led for iPad Pro 11 then. At least it’s a more realistic expectation at this point.

Also, this rumor is actually a bit depressing. It sounds defeatist

Lets hear some good news for a change. :D

ha ha ha, it's hard for this dude to admit that Apple wasn't going to do it. How convenient: first to hang up a crazy rumor, and then suddenly refute - profit!
The way this dude is still getting coverage is what impresses me the most. Even Apple gets bashed quite heavily when they mess up something. But not this guy, he’s even getting paid for making up bullcrap all year long.

What I don't understand is that Apple is large enough to make their own displays. Like how hard is it for them to create a factory only for displays like they did with the whole sapphire glass thing.

It affects you if you can actually see it. I see it in low light environment, really distracting when you look slightly over the screen (don't focus on it). Same with halogen bulbs.

I don’t see it. Maybe you can. i don’t know. I’ve never actually heard anyone claim they could - normally they just claim they can’t see it but somehow it hurts their eyes or causes headaches. And I’m still looking for anyone to cite any peer-reviewed publication in a reputable medical journal that says it has any deleterious effect on anyone.

“One reason Kuo states that Apple had canceled its OLED iPad Air is that it may have been detrimental to the sales of the forthcoming 11-inch iPad Pro with a mini-LED display.”

“While Apple plans to stick with an OLED display for the ‌iPad Air‌, Kuo says the company continues to research and develop newer display technologies for the ‌iPad‌ line.”

I don’t get it - are they doing it or not, as the above two paragraphs seem to be in contradiction? 🤷🏻‍♂️

I literally just said I see it. Read more, talk less? It's annoying at best, and people say it causes headaches. Why not believe them and wait for a study?

Of course it does. It exhausting for your eyes/brain to deal with it. Some people are more sensitive some are not but it is making you more tired. Do you need a study to know something is bad?
I don't need a study to know that if I smoke cigarettes its bad for me. Its just common sense.
If a lot of people have the issue than do you really need doctor's stamp on it? What happens if the study is biased (as has happened in the past many many times) do you take it as truth or you look for another study?

Anyway, you get the point. Any flickering is not good really for your eyes/brain to deal with. Its common sense here.

Remember the old 50Hz vs 100Hz TVs?

this is good news. OLED is not get tech. Lets keep improving miniLED until we can get microLED which will solve everything eventually. OLED is crap
it's not ideal but if you have a laptop with it, you might like them. Fear of burn-in is there for me though.
But they just need to improve those screens in the Air. They are ok but not particularly good

My iPhone's display looks great. My Apple Watch looks great. My TV looks great. They're all OLED. Consumer-level microLED is years away. I feel sorry you're missing out on the best display tech there is right now.

Actually, you most likely only know smoking is bad for you due to studies being made. Back in the days smoking was not considered a danger of any sort, common sense changes over time with new information.

Supply chain is suffering from long term covid…
It’s from residual Covid, yes, because now there are difficulties getting help at major ports in the U.S. China’s energy limitations are also now hurting the supply chain.

Pro motion will remain as a Pro feature, as the name itself indicates. It’s one more reason to entice customers to get a Pro instead of an Air
Yes, but the regular iphones will be getting Pro motion next year at the least, and they are not Pro devices. £300 Android phones have 120hz displays, so there is only so long that Apple can get away with only having this as a ‘Pro’ feature.
