You should question it. It’s a rather extraordinary claim to say that high duty cycle but high frequency flickering that occurs outside the range of human perception somehow causes medical issues. That is the sort of extraordinary claim that needs proof - it’s not incumbent on the doubter to prove that the extraordinary claim is false.
Nah, not worth the time and energy… there are so many opinionated people out here, and after all it’s a rumors site…
And yes, quite a few people out wrong information here, but that’s just normal life these days, unfortunately…

I told you so Kuo is BS. oled is not cheap why would they put it in Air?

Because the 11” pro will be getting mini led next. The OLED Air would’ve sit nicely above the old lcd technology used in the base iPad and under the current mini-led technology used in the pro.
Most people would struggle to understand that the OLED is not superior to the mini led however (read the board) and they axed it.

It's very possible he's right that they were exploring it, and have decided against it. Personally I was always skeptical due to the pixel density required to hide a PenTile sub pixel layout. That starts looking ok at around the 400ppi mark, while retina iPads are at ~260. That's either a hell of a resolution to push, or a poor looking display.

Getting harder and harder for me to be motivated to upgrade ANYTHING Apple this year.

Would have upgraded one of my iPads to something OLED, now.....meh.

I went into the summer expecting to upgrade my 11PM, Mini 5, and even my AW6. Same for my GF with her XS max and AW3, now......we "might" get the 13PM around the holidays, if at all.

News like this doesn't help to motivate me.

From "I have to have the latest and greatest" to "what I have works so well I'll just.....not" in 2 short years.
I would wait for the 14PM if I was you. That will most likely be a much more significant upgrade than the 13PM (unless you upgrade your phones every year and know you’re getting a 14PM next year anyway).

The 12 was literally the very first annual upgrade I skipped. Might do exactly what you suggest at this point.

OLED and pro-motion on iPad mini please.
I think we’re at least two years away from a mini-LED (or OLED) iPad mini with Pro-motion release. All I see Apple doing early next year is bumping up the iPad Air to an A15, same display and a two lens camera system with flash, Center Stage and maybe LIDAR.

Yes, but the regular iphones will be getting Pro motion next year at the least, and they are not Pro devices. £300 Android phones have 120hz displays, so there is only so long that Apple can get away with only having this as a ‘Pro’ feature.
Maybe regular iPhones will get a 90Hz display, and that won’tbe marketed as Pro-motion. But at this point all that is pure speculation, maybe they will stick with 60Hz displays for the base model. It’s Apple, I wouldn’t be surprised tbh.

Don't forget 6GB RAM and Pro-level 5G!

OLED is cheap. Don't fall for the Korean marketing machine.

Lenovo sells an 11" OLED tablet for less than iPad Air. So does Samsung.
It's a well-known fact that the screen is the only part of a device where costs can be cut.

Yes, my old Galaxy Tab S5e (AMOLED) sold for about $500. Beautiful screen for it's price, but it suffered with Jelly effect in portrait, had a dirty screen effect and a pretty low brightness. After mini 6, I wouldn't be surprised if OLED Air would suffer from the same issues. At least Apple would give it a decent processor.

My iPhone's display looks great. My Apple Watch looks great. My TV looks great. They're all OLED. Consumer-level microLED is years away. I feel sorry you're missing out on the best display tech there is right now.

Yep. I admire my oled laptop screen every time I use it. It’s just leaps and bounds better. Couple of years now and no burn in. iPads ideally should have had oled already.

It’s from residual Covid, yes, because now there are difficulties getting help at major ports in the U.S. China’s energy limitations are also now hurting the supply chain.

This is why Tim Cook is in charge and makes the big bucks. It’s not his vision. It’s his ability to make supply chain work and ensure annual launches.

Display rumors are rarely accurate for some reason.. Everything seems to come much later than rumored.

the forecast never made sense in the first place. OLED has many advantages over mini-LED so what... they were going to put OLED in the iPad Air and the worse mini-LED in the Pros? it never made sense.

Kuo first said it was going to happen, now he is getting cold feet and saying it won’t. He has been discredited this year. Why are we still reading about his guesses? That is all he is doing, guessing.

I swear everybody was like “apple won’t use OLED in the iPads when they are using mini LED” I have a feeling the supply chain were never going to put OLED in iPad but apple just fed them crap. Would have been nice to see OLED in some of the consumer iPads though… definitely need to replace the existing LCD. Calling it Super Retina Liquid Retina doesn’t make it any better

Yeah this never made any sense. Also, why do they need to replace the existing LCDs? They're pretty widely regarded as excellent displays.

Kuo is reporting on what whispers from the supply chain is heard. Things can always change, company relationships change, pricing disagreements happen, supply issues are normal. Not sure what all the negative comments here are all about as Kuo has had more accuracy then others.

What is interesting is that according to Kuo, Apple sees an iPad Air with OLED as cannibalizing sales of an miniLED iPad Pro. Either Apple is conflicted that OLED is better than miniLED or the Air and Pro at some point will overlap considering Apple may it have much distinction for future updates to make it worth for a customer.

Side note: After retuning my mini 6 yesterday the display units had it just as bad, it was even noticeable on the 11” iPad Pro but for some strange reason not as obvious on the iPad Air 4. I did not check the 12.9”, but it seems strange that even with ProMotion it was noticeable (not as bad as mini 6) but the Air without it was hardly noticeable and without ProMotion. Anyone know if it’s display manufacturers or something or just where the component is placed.

Which is the better technology of the two? I tried googling about it, but it seemed like OLED has a better look to it, but MiniLED has better brightness. As I haven't tried either I have no clue as to why Apple wants one over the another.
