There is no way I'd go anywhere near an autonomous car that was rushed out in 3 years. Especially without an automotive industry veteran running the project. This sounds like an utter disaster waiting to happen.
Especially one involving a company which thought the butterfly keyboard was a wonderful idea and flogged it for three years...

Would be better to develop the infrastructure first to power vehicles from home using offline sources like fuel cells and energy conversion.
The existing power infrastructure is not ready and will fail significantly.

In what volume can they make one? Apple wouldnt be satisfied in selling a few thousand cars per year.
Apple Car could be expensive like a Porsche Taycan. Maybe 50,000 per year. Internet search shows Porsche sold 20,000 Taycans in 2021.

can't wait to see this defeat tesla's autopilot that drives like a 16 year old
You don't realize it, but you're actually giving Tesla a huge complement. A self-driving car that's as good as a 16-year-old driver is a tremendous accomplishment. I don't think Tesla is quite there yet overall. In some situations it's better, in others it's worse. But no other company's autonomous vehicles can drive as well as the FSD beta in any given location. And FSD significantly improves every 2-4 weeks.

What Apple and Tim Cook needs to is a brute force take over of Tesla, kick out Elon and rebrand it Apple Car.
Lucid Air is supposedly making a very good EV with long range. Apple could take-over this company and put an Apple on the hood.

Never is a long time. Later than anyone expects? Sure. Computers were never going to beat humans at chess for a while there either, then rather quickly things snapped together and never went back.
And nobody though AlphaGo could beat a human player, and then it did. And then it beat the world's best.

Level-5 self driving cars are NEVER going to happen.

Please stop the insanity.

There are lots of other ways to make money, don't need to do it with cars.

Maybe start a restaurant or something? You already named yourself after food..

Level 5 is possible, but it's only achievable if majority of cars on the road are Level 4 and above. It's not possible at current time, but I wouldn't say never.

Apple doesn't have the stomach for mass production of cars. Full stop. It's not about cash, it's about will. And Apple is way too risk averse.

2025 production won't happen. My guess is 2025 pre-production models testing, but full production is not happening in 2025.

IF you want mass production by 2025 you'd need prototypes on the road now - where are those?
I still do not believe that Apple will ever build a car ...

and this tweet, IF Lynch indeed took over last year, he'd be done with re-org and on a hiring spree ... this Kuo twittering stuff is not convincing ...

I guess Stans have low standards.

You clearly do not have the beta. Some things get better, some things regress. Overall, it's hardly improved from the original release.

I really hope Apple forgets this, and lets people who make cars, make cars...
Which people? Kia/Hyundai which in some ways a newcomer but doing quite well in the EV sector as well as other parts of the market. Or Chrysler; oh. wait they lost their way and were bought by Mercedes and then sold which was then merged a couple of times. Or Ford and GM which has lost their way many times; and one of them was bailed out by the US government. Or Tesla which is living off of government hand outs. Or VW which lied and poisoned the air?
