I love my Mini 6. I would like even thinner borders, a better camera maybe (I don't use it ever, but since we are asking for more...) be able to hold the Pencil on the left side (I'm reaching here, I know) and, oh yes, better battery life.

Another thing, given its size: a bumper-case. No folding anything, just a case like a big phone, no covering screen.

...and still the same iPadOS home screen optimized for 11"+ screens
I wish it were optimized for 11+ inch screens. So much wasted space (vertically and horizontally) on the 12.9 it just boggles my mind how bad Apple is at screen usage/optimization.

Might not be as bad if I could arrange the icons how I like but yeah, how ridiculous is that dream, I know.

Apple has never let the mini get equal to its other iPad offering. I suspect that’s because they don’t sell a the same levels the larger iPads. My wife loves her mini 6, but there’s zero way I could use a screen that small for work. The text is too small for side by side apps and such. I expect a spec bump but Apple will most likely still use older parts from the parts ben for the new mini. As mentioned above, I’ve never seen a mini 6 in the wild.

It’s good to see they are still interested in investing in the mini line. Compared to the gap between the iPad mini 5 and 6 this is a faster update right? (Can’t be bothered to look up release dates on my phone)

I just hope they make the next mini as comfortable to use in portrait mode as the old iPad mini 5. Stop assuming everyone wants a landscape device for watching movies. Some of us still know how to read and the mini form factor is perfect for reading which is more comfortable on a device this size in portrait mode. The jelly scroll for example was only an issue because apple changed the orientation of the jelly scrolling so it is more noticeable in portrait instead of landscape. The EXACT OPPOSITE of what it should have been (you don’t notice jelly scroll when watching a movie or playing a game. Just when vertically scrolling through content).

Please Apple - do not do this

Human hands need somewhere to comfortably rest without fear of inadvertent screen interaction.

Design products that are meant to be held ... with human hands and ergonomics in mind!!
Like the iPhone, the device you held on your hands and has NO BORDERS?!

Also: If they have the technology to prevent your palm to be recognized as a finger when you draw with the Pencil and you rest your palm on the iPad, don't you think they could prevent unintended touches from the sides?

Also: Apple doesn't read MacRumors. Evidently.

Yeah. I don't like the widgets size on the Mini. They look bigger on my 11 Pro Max. Makes no sense. And the text is tiny. Why? Just give me the same thing as the iPhone but with more space.

The longest gap (more than three years) was between the 4 and the 5. The 6 came 2.5 years after the 5. According to the present rumor, the 7 would be 2–2.5 years.

It's super frustrating, isn't it?

If anything, I'd wager the Mini is the iPad most likely to get used in portrait mode as it's by far the most comfortable one to hand hold in that orientation....and then they go and optimize the Mini 6 for "landscape everything"

Exactly. I love it to replace many uses of my iPhone and so I use it mainly in portrait. Hell, I would love it to fold in half and be an iPhone so I could carry it in a big pocket.

I love the Mini, though I just couldn’t use it after owning a pro. Whilst the chip is decent for every day use, that 60hz screen just killed it for me. I ended up giving it to my fiance and going back to my M1 11” Pro. I hope that they bring the 120hz screen to the Mini because it would be an instant daily for me, it’s my favourite iPad size.

If they don’t add ProMotion to the next iPad Mini I’ll chalk them up as a bunch of cheap asses. I’ve had two Mini 6s, but the screen makes my head hurt it’s so bad. (Next to my ProMotion devices) Sold both of them.
It isn't the fact the panel is 60hz. It's a low quality panel. I have plenty of 60hz LCD displays that are the highest quality and give me zero issues.

The mini is what every pilot I know uses. They are used in portrait mode to hold standard FAA approach plate charts.

Do you hold an iPad mini like how you hold an iPhone?
