Recently, I made the mistake of buying a new AppleTV, which has had multiple releases over multiple years and it does not work correctly. For example, to get the Apple TV service to work I have to reboot the device every time, otherwise when I click on program to watch, the icon expands, then contracts and does nothing else. Reboot, works fine until the Apple TV is shutdown.
The relevance here, is that there is no logical reason to believe that the Vision Pro is anything more than an annoying pre-alpha release of hardware that is going to need another couple of years of updates in order to work consistently and correctly.

Still, if Apple is selling less than 400,000 in the U.S. only, and it sells out, it means that at least one in every 1,000 U.S. residents will have bought a Vision Pro. That is impressive for a product that costs USD 3,500 and which is not even available to be tested yet.
The real test will come after that. Apple's VR sets must expand their audience to become a viable product. Developers will not want to spend time and resources to make software for a product with limited availability when they can focus on other platforms with a lot more potential customers (iOS, Android, macOS, Windows). Apple may sell one million Vision Pros for USD 3,500 in the U.S., but it will not sell 100 million. This means Apple will have to eventually reach out to several markets worldwide other than the U.S. and either drop the price or release a cheaper version to make them affordable for a wider population (a non-Pro Vision).
They really want people to use this as their full-time computer and it only comes with 256GB of storage space? That's ridiculous. For that price, it's got to be a TB or more.
First of all, they never said anything about "needing it". Secondly, no one wants a particular piece of technology until they see an example of that technology they want. For example, early on there we're many people who didn't want smartphone until they saw an iPhone or Android phone.
To be clear. They will be using it as the displays for a full-time computer which already has a hard drive.

I smell a paper launch. It's clear from the absurdly high price tag, the weird reveal, and the fact they're doing the Pro model first that Apple does not want average consumers using this thing.
Different times.
Everybody in the world was using or planning on using a mobile phone when the iPhone was introduced. Steve Jobs was at the controls and while the device and code were not perfect, he fired people for not working up to his standard.
Now we have Tim Cook at the controls. No one is using the VR in mass or planning on it. There are no standards at Apple, no one gets Cook's wrath. Diversity hiring is at its peak. No one seems to care to even meet the Keynote date for release. Product strategy is a mess. Standards have slipped so much.
I do believe that Apple will spend millions to make it look like Vision Pro is a success, then Cook will retire and we'll have another iPhone SE like product that will not meet sales goals and eventually linger on. Why because Apple does not want that big of a black eye and will be in a position where they need products that don't have 50% gross margins and don't sell in the billions.
No need to be prepared. Many will no doubt find those articles useful.
People who make these statements don’t realize they are the niche. Every Apple device I own has 256GB storage and none is more than half full. I just need local storage large enough to hold my apps and local caches. Maybe a couple movies for when I travel.

I didn’t say I need it. Of course, I don’t. There’s very little we truly need, if we’re all being honest.
I’m still intrigued by it because the technology seems cool and I would like to experience it first hand. Just like I wanted to (and have, eventually) experience(d) other headsets.
Maybe I should add that I don’t own any of those headsets, either. Because, oh wonder, I don’t need them.

What I want to know is where is the research that Vision Pro is not terribly dangerous to the user's eyes?
And the Vision Pro can take some of the existential Forum argument energy that is normally spent on the iPad Pro.
Umm almost every “full time computer“ apple makes starts at 256gb… they obviously think that’s acceptable….
Can you research that and report back here with facts (rather than stirring up FUD)?
The iPad is 13.75 years old. You can buy a first gen one on ebay for under $50. You could have bought one for $500 and lost 90% of your money, or you could have invested in the S&P 500 and made an over 300% return.
The Apple Watch Series Zero is similarly going for under $50 on ebay. You could have similarly lost 90% of your money on that over the past 8 years.

Most people were using cheap phones or blackberry style phones, but very few regular people wanted a smartphone to do browsing because WAP sucked for that. At least they didn't until Apple showed them a better way of doing it.
You used the words “no one” and “everybody” numerous times. So you speak for everyone? How about this “no one” can read minds. Just because you think it means absolutely nothing. Big world out there and very dangerous words are “this time it’s different”
I was excited for the iPhone in 2007. I'd never owned a phone before and the iPhone was the first one that looked appealing.
People didn't buy the 2007 iPhone because it was expensive and it was only on AT&T. But critics were absolutely raving about it. Everyone was talking about it even though not that many people were buying it. The few people who did buy it became little local celebrities.
None of that enthusiasm exists for the Vision Pro. In fact, it's worse than that. The opposite of love isn't hate, it's indifference, and that's what Vision Pro is largely receiving.
The Vision Pro appears to have less interest than the Home Pod. It appears to have less interest than other VR headsets.
I think it's quite possible that Tim Cook managed to so completely obliterate the Apple brand that people just don't care anymore. The iPhone was the phone from the company that brought you the Mac and the iPod. The Vision Pro is from the company that brought you the AirTag and HomePod.
That’s why their company is buying one to see if it’ll be helpful. They won’t know until they have one to try. Back in the early days of the PC, they never rooms full of computers would be replaced until it was done. They all thought the iPhone and touchscreen phones would be a fad. I can‘t think of how helpful it will be, but I give them credit for trying. My company is waiting on the second generation to try on out.
