What is going on with these head straps? As someone new to AR/VR/MR, the flimsy strap on the Q3 was the first thing I replaced. It looked pretty much like this

At least with the original one, I can at least imagine a comfortable fit. View attachment 2334607
Just like the Apple Watch, I can’t wait to see what the 3rd party straps look like. That being said, shouldn’t this be one thing that Apple gets right, right out of the box? Anyone care to opine that has worn this for an entire movie?
I think there are two different strap designs, one with the top of the head trap and the other with the larger behind the head strap. The top one also is user adjustable while the bottom one is sized to your head.

That’s why their company is buying one to see if it’ll be helpful. They won’t know until they have one to try. Back in the early days of the PC, they never rooms full of computers would be replaced until it was done. They all thought the iPhone and touchscreen phones would be a fad. I can‘t think of how helpful it will be, but I give them credit for trying. My company is waiting on the second generation to try on out.
I was responding to tips regarding the preorder process, not the device.

You can pay for it in installments.. I just did it for a MacBook Pro 14 inch m3 for 2 months over the holidays that I plan to return. I actually want the next MacBook Air when they release it. It only held up $400 for a $3500 laptop. But you have to be extremely careful not to scratch it. Which is gunna be tricky for a lot of people planning to return the Vision Pro in two weeks.
I wonder if Apple will put some kind of limitation on paying in installments to avoid this kind of (for lack of a better term, that's smart on your part re: the MBA lol) abuse of the system specifically with AVP, given how short their supply will be and how delicate of an item it really is. can't really imagine what that'd look like, just conjecture…

No someone has mentioned a great point, most long flights will have USB or even an actual outlet to plug into. It’s a non-issue.
I haven’t flown anything other than southwest in years (or at all in years at this point). Are USB connections really ubiquitous now?

I fly Delta and American and they both have USBs in the back of every seat on every flight I have been on and I fly about eight times a year for my company.

Expecting long wait times initially. Many would be buying one to at least try it out before returning it within the 14 day window.

You used the words “no one” and “everybody” numerous times. So you speak for everyone? How about this “no one” can read minds. Just because you think it means absolutely nothing. Big world out there and very dangerous words are “this time it’s different”
You really have no concept of "getting the point" without attacking the syntax. That happens a lot when people don't have a logical response.

By the same token, people tend to say things like "no one" or "everybody" when they are trying to add weight to an obviously subjective statement.

People seem to be applying their own financial situations to this product. For a lot of people in the world, 3500 isn’t that much money. This will sell out within 24 hours easily. I doubt Apple will have made very many anyway.

Nah they never will.. You can do the same thing with a wildly expensive Mac Pro. You just need enough credit on your card to support it. They will let you pay them $200 / month for example but they still have you legally responsible for the full $10,000.

Can you research that and report back here with facts (rather than stirring up FUD)?
Why should anyone believe it is safe without some proof. If you research history you'll see a lot of cases where assumed safety killed, maimed, or severely damaged people because they were told things were safe without any one independently studying it. Just to name a few, the original polio vaccine, thalidomide, smoking, etc., but there are many others.

My eye health is NOT something I take lightly. Just assuming others have done independent research is not very wise. These days, it is easier (cheaper) to buy a researcher, than a politician.

“No one will want this expensive iPhone it will be a flop”….2007…..”no one will want this expensive Vision Pro it will be a flop”….2024
Yeah sure, but everyone was talking about the iPhone back when it was coming out, even if many were negative about it.

I haven't heard a single conversation about the Vision Pro other than on MacRumors.

Everyone knew that the iPhone was the new Blackberry competitor back then.

I still can't think of a single compelling use case for the Vision Pro.

No one knows nor cares about it, nor can afford it anyway.

Didn't Steve Jobs use the Iphone to present it? I don't think you can get any more higher up than that?
Yes. And the actual team presented the headset instead of Tim Cook because they worked on it. But there were no photos of execs using the iPhone in the wild after the keynote until it was released. Steve Jobs even hand picked the four people who got to review it.

Recently, I made the mistake of buying a new AppleTV, which has had multiple releases over multiple years and it does not work correctly. For example, to get the Apple TV service to work I have to reboot the device every time, otherwise when I click on program to watch, the icon expands, then contracts and does nothing else. Reboot, works fine until the Apple TV is shutdown.

The relevance here, is that there is no logical reason to believe that the Vision Pro is anything more than an annoying pre-alpha release of hardware that is going to need another couple of years of updates in order to work consistently and correctly.
Agreed. The HomePod has been out for 6 years, and Siri for it is no less incompetent. If anything, Siri has become worse, because it doesn't seem to hear as well now. For 99% of those 6 years the software/firmware has also been incredibly flakey, to the point where I'd be loathe to trust any smart speaker or wireless speaker to perform without annoyances. If a speaker is too hard for Apple to master, concern is natural every time they step away from their key products.
