Correct, I 100% expect that if I'm "throwing" my Mac screen to the Vpro view, if my Mac has 10 "spaces" set up, I switch to them whenever I like... exactly as I would on an actual physical screen in front of me.

So while there may be only 1 virtual Mac screen in the view, there should be quick access to any number of Mac screens one is using as spaces. This "heavy lifting" is done on the Mac, not Vpro.

And one can somewhat simulate this right now by air-playing a Mac screen through AppleTV to their TV. With any number of spaces set up, switch them and they quickly switch on the "one" super-sized Mac screen "floating" out in front of you. Have 20 Mac apps running across 10 spaces on that Mac and they are all available in that one super-sized view on the TV by hopping space to space. I have to believe it will be exactly the same in a Vpro view.

People who make these statements don’t realize they are the niche. Every Apple device I own has 256GB storage and none is more than half full. I just need local storage large enough to hold my apps and local caches. Maybe a couple movies for when I travel.
- Work issued MacBook Air M1
- Personal iPad Pro 12.9” M2
- iPhone 15 Pro Max
Or they work in video, or photography, or have a family, or they got into generative AI, or etc. Every single apple device I own is frequently running out of storage just from photographs or music. I think 256 is...a little low but not crazy low. But for the price...still hurts a little.

Yeah, I agree that for $3500 it should have come with at least 512GB.

It is 100% compatible with anything in the Mac App Store because it can act as multiple displays for your Mac computer.
That is true, I guess my thought process was that it can run iPhone and iPad apps independently, it would be nice if it could run Mac apps independently too.

When travelling replace a $1100 M2 macbook air with a $3500 Apple Vision Pro - definitely seems like Apple economics

Yeah I know you'd have to lug a keyboard and mouse around too... I think I just talked myself out of a use-case.

Still, it would be nice!

Speaking of them trickling out information, I wonder when the ‘Face Scan for Size’ feature will go live. I’m hoping it’s before the pre-orders… don’t want to be scrambling to scan my face while the first wave of shipments is selling out.

But there’s nothing about this Vision Pro that blew people away. Everything showcased the quest can do besides maybe record video? I don’t know. But there’s nothing that blows your mind or is unprecedented besides the amount of pixels Apple is throwing at your eyes.

Like then with palm you’re probably still better off getting a quest right now. Apps and games exist. Much better price. That’s if you even want one. Phones were easy to justify. You need one. You don’t need this.

I want to be excited too. But when people start mentioning iPhone then you’ve jumped the shark. There will never be another iPhone. The iPhone basically put blackberry, Nokia, and palm all out of business. It was a magic money machine. The Vision Pro? Not so much. Not even close.
The Vision Pro blew people away. Sorry you are wrong. People in the tech industry said it was like nothing they had ever experienced. It was magical.

The reason people bring up the iPhone is to counter these repetitive arguments that we already have headsets so we know they suck. But the iPhone showed that better OS and technology can change a device that exists from ok to the "new way". All smart phones are now basically iPhones in interface and design.

You are right, the AVP will never sell like an iPhone. Never ever. I think best case is Mac Pro numbers.

I am skeptical about the success of the App for all the same reasons. But that shouldn't make us ignore the data in front of us about possibilities.

The iPad 3 sure, but the Series 1 watch came out a year and a half after the Series 0. The Series 1 was a lot more affordable too.
My bad. I remember Series 0 having a September announcement but not launching until April and then Series 1 and 2 launching in September. I thought they had been in the same year based off of memory but after looking it up I was wrong. It was the following year.

I am a day one purchaser. I do not intend to buy it and sell it, try it and return it, or use it as a developer. I simply love what I have read about spatial computing and really look forward to it. I am especially excited about its use on an airplane. This will be a massive hit.

No worries, I can never remember these things without first checking MacTracker. I think backlash from the iPad 4 update is the reason why the MacBook Airs haven't received the M3 yet.

Here come all the hustlers who will preorder these and then flip them for profits….
Yup, and while I didn't check eBay and other sources for it after it happened, I'm willing to bet the same thing happened at least for a little bit of time while the S9 and Ultra Watches were under that brief sales ban

Oh yeah, I see this being an absolute game-changer when it comes to use on planes, as those screens are so behind the times with many of them still not having Bluetooth (though that one Twelve South Airfly adapter can fix that)

Dude, have you seen what most people wear when flying? :D

I personally think it looks cool, but would you wear it to escape staring at the back of the seat in front of you? To watch a video on a large screen instead of a tiny screen. To be able to do work on a large screen instead of the small laptop screens which only fit on the tray table.
I wouldn't wear it on a plane for a few years because I am fat and ugly and dont want to be in a bunch of tiktok's as genZ makes fun of the old fat guy with the goggles on the plane. But eventually I might get the courage.

Perfectly understandable. On the plus side it would cover most of your identifiable features.

The iPad is 13.75 years old. You can buy a first gen one on ebay for under $50. You could have bought one for $500 and lost 90% of your money, or you could have invested in the S&P 500 and made an over 300% return.

The Apple Watch Series Zero is similarly going for under $50 on ebay. You could have similarly lost 90% of your money on that over the past 8 years.

They're not sealed though. The key is to a sealed in box example. Of course second hand items are worthless.

If any of you had any sense to invest, you'd buy one and keep it sealed in it's box for 15 years.
That only works if the product turns out to be a success. There are many Apple failures out there for cheap. eMate 300 for example.

The Newton was a failure and that will go for a small fortune in a sealed box. Again it has to be SEALED. The first iPhone is practically worthless if it's opened or used.

Not that Apple hasn’t had some flops but this isn’t the iPhone.

The iPhone presentation by jobs blew people away. You’ll always find a few critics but they were few. We saw unprecedented at the time capacitive touch screen using just your fingers. A usable web browser that looked like the real thing. Video and pics that looked much better. An easy to use iPod or music player. Google maps.

Contrast this with palm which I used. We had all that. It just looked like garbage is all. But certainly I could play music, use an awful looking browser, etc. and have it on 3g. Plus with games and apps already it was still I feel a superior device to iPhone. And so I kept it.

iPhone 3G and App Store changed that. Palm responded with webos. Went back. iPhone 4 then killed it.

But there’s nothing about this Vision Pro that blew people away. Everything showcased the quest can do besides maybe record video? I don’t know. But there’s nothing that blows your mind or is unprecedented besides the amount of pixels Apple is throwing at your eyes.

We’re still waiting for Apple to blow us away with something. Nothing the Vision Pro offers does this yet. Will it be higher quality yes (and you’ll pay for it) but that’s not mind blowing.

And will it come with the same restraints the quest has. You can’t wait to take it off after 20-30 mins. How will this Vision Pro be any different. It’s still swimming goggles.

I want to be excited too. But when people start mentioning iPhone then you’ve jumped the shark. There will never be another iPhone. The iPhone basically put blackberry, Nokia, and palm all out of business. It was a magic money machine. The Vision Pro? Not so much. Not even close.

My experience with the iPhone was the opposite. Work gave me a blackberry, I rarely used it. Dark screen. Cramped keyboard. Unclear functions. Buttons all the frick over the place. Took forever to make a call.

When the iPhone came out, I figured I just wasn't a mobile phone kind of guy, but I was an iPod kind of guy, had bought all the iPods up to then, so I bought the latest iPod (named the iPhone).

And suddenly, there I was, making phone calls from a mobile phone! reading my email! browsing the internet!

It didnt need to mature to the 3G that you loved so much. I loved it from the start. Different people. Different needs.

You never know. I am not going to pretend I know what the AVP is fully capable of (and not capable of) until I try one. Most likely you are right, lightening rarely strikes twice (or in apple's case 4 times? 5 times?), but it could.

Yeah I know you'd have to lug a keyboard and mouse around too... I think I just talked myself out of a use-case.

They make small keyboards and mice that would be ideal for this, not much lugging involved.

Other nearby passengers are going to love you with the AVP's open ear speakers blasting some Marval reboot...

You can use it with AirPods Pro V2 USB C variant for complete Spatial Audio AND privacy. And wouldn't you know it, I happen to own some!

What is going on with these head straps? As someone new to AR/VR/MR, the flimsy strap on the Q3 was the first thing I replaced. It looked pretty much like this

At least with the original one, I can at least imagine a comfortable fit.

Just like the Apple Watch, I can’t wait to see what the 3rd party straps look like. That being said, shouldn’t this be one thing that Apple gets right, right out of the box? Anyone care to opine that has worn this for an entire movie?
