They should’ve blocked returns for the Vision Pro, but they didn’t.
Again, I fail to see the benefit of them dealing with the overhead of treating the two products like that compared to all their other products.

I fail to see why would they convenience customers for such particular products in such a way.

Early adopters such as influencers play an important role regardless if they return the product or not.

Actually NOT. Samsung Flip compared to an iPhone 16 Pro, for instance, is bigger in TWO dimensions out of three. Smaller footprint ? It is 14.9 mm thick, almost double iPhone thickness, so it is definitely noticeable in your pocket.

While I could find some use on Fold devices (like the ebook case above) definitely a Flip device is just a gimmick in my vision: something that fold for the sake of folding.
Couldn’t agree more. Some will find a use for it but, for me, I’ll use the real device for the real use. No compromise.

That’s simply false

The phone experience is no different to a normal slab phone. It will do the exactly same thing as any normal phone.

Thats simply true. I used a Fold for a while and as a phone the experience is very poor when closed and awkward when unfolded. I briefly tried the Google and the Oppo, and the Find N5 is the only one that folded resembles a “normal” phone.

As a tablet it will run just like any small tablet will run.

Nope. A tablet doesn’t have a crease and an hinge.

Creases these days are very minimal and can hardly be seen in day to day usage. Apple is said to have basically crease free

Crease is not minimal on a Fold nor on a Pixel. It is still very noticeable on the Oppo.
We will see Apple solution when they will launch the product.

A notch or Dynamic Island is far more distracting
Not even close.

Not even close.

The experience as a phone is only worse on older folds like the Z fold due to narrow screen. Pixel fold and find N the experience is the same as any normal slab phone. It will do the same thing and be basically the same aspect ratio for the outer display.

All other foldables now have a oppo find N display if you don’t want to open the phone. Sounds like all your comparing is the Z fold which btw that design is changing to same as find N 5 this year.

The crease is a non issue and can barely been seen in most day to day tasks these days as the crease is much improved now. You won’t notice it on oppo find N5, one plus open or any Vivo fold as well.

A fold 7 will have a similar crease where you can barely see it

I’m sorry but the notch and Dynamic Island is far more noticeable than any crease is or will be. When using foldable the crease is not something anybody notices in day to day usage or watching content.

Notch and the island is always right there and noticeable very single time you use the device. Not even close to the same as any crease which are non issues now with new UTG glass tech

I can see no benefit in a folded phone. I use my phone for calls and zoom, emails and watching movies on short flights. The 4x3 screen dimensions are no use to me. I see foldable as a gimmick that will come and go. Remember the foldable Sony tablet? Having said the dimensions offer me no benefit I remain concerned that foldable screens offer another thing to go wrong. Remember PTT? Remember 3d TV’s? It is a blind alley as far as I can see.

Than don't buy it, nobody cares.

I had REAL WOLRD experience with a foldable (Fold 5) and the crease is there, undeniably there, and i cannot stand it. Never.
It is not something you imagine. It is something you can see and feel on everyday usage. Foldable owners don’t complain because they have to justify their purchase, typically.
Buuuuuuut a notch that is equally annoying you can ignore.....your fanboy is showing...

Those are actually the exact use cases that foldables excel at.

Zoom and MS Teams meetings on the larger inner screen means I can actually read documents, diagrams, and spreadsheets instead of zooming in and scrolling around on a slab phone.

Emails are easier to read and respond to on the larger inner screen.

I have a MagSafe kickstand for my Fold6 that I use to prop up my phone on the airplane seat tray to watch movies. This means I stopped packing my iPad and saved space and weight. The iPad only weighs a pound but it's one less thing to worry about when traveling. A foldable is like having an iPad Mini at the ready wherever you are.

Regardless, it's fine that many here won't buy a foldable, plenty of others will. The iPhone Fold will easily outsell the AVP for Apple.

I am glad it works for you. I only do Teams and Zoom on audio for work and if I need to have shared content i Use one of my macs. I have a great folding metal stand for my iphone pro max to watch content on short flights, I love the capability to show ultra Panavision etc. I guess I am used to having multiple devices. The one I use least is my ipad. I agree with you that a foldable iphone will be aimed at ipad mini and poss smaller ipads and ipad airs. On long flights I love my 16” pro with my somewhat aged Bose NC700’s. Then I have my collection of vintage Sony Video Walkmans but that is a different story.

Was thinking about the foldable again today. Half my textbooks are digital now, with full color high resolution images and sometimes even moving graphics. Lectures are often available digitally too. Would love something I can use in my hammock instead of having to go sit in front of my pc. But an iPad for just digital textbooks seems ridiculous, an iPad Air with 256GB that could also do video editing is way too expensive for me for just hobby stuff that my pc does better anyway, a MacBook Air I won’t get until they update the display. Would be so nice if I can just stretch out or unfold my iPhone and have a large and comfortable digital book in my hands. Not $2000/€3000 or early adopter nice but in a few years this stuff is going to be really awesome for a lot of people.
