For sure. I'm not suggesting that, over time, pricing won't change, other models won't be introduced, etc. as component prices drop, the tech evolves, etc. That is all to be expected.Granted it took several years, but the current iPad is more powerful with more memory and cheaper than the first iPad
They need to show what it's capable of to developers - so they can develop, I dunno, apps n' stuff? so when it actually ships there will be something to use. High end apps will take time to develop. If they release it THIS late, they're not going to announce it at WWDC, most likely in September or November.
I would agree. There is so much expensive tech in this device that a cheap version would be impossible immediately. It will take time. For sure. However, I am pushing back on the idea that there's a "cheap" "consumer" version of the headset waiting in the wings and that this release is a developer release. That's just silly and has never happened.
If the headset hardware is as sophisticated as rumored, pricing won't come down for a while. Probably several generations. I found this iPad pricing history chart. Pricing didn't drop until the fifth generation.
This chart shows the evolution of iPhone pricing. The trajectory is clear.
