Spec Differentiation From Galaxy S8 might be the actual reason.

The S9 basically had none. So it’s Samsung customers’ upgrade season after two years.

And yes, for people who had to try to hit a fingerprint sensor on the back of the phone and pretend that this was the best location for it, ever, this is a milestone.

For FaceID-Users it would be a step back to a time where your phone would tell you what to do to identify yourself instead of just looking for you by itself.

People in China generally don't go for Samsung regardless of price point. The Chinese dislike the Koreans. Despite what you may read in the press, the Chinese are rather openly racist towards South Koreans along with general anti-South Korean sentiment going back several decades. In the past, Samsung has resorted to shipping products without their logo just to get consumers who may like their products buy them, but not feel embarrassed to have the Samsung logo on there and be ridiculed by peers.

LOL

According to the Korea Tourism Organization, by far the largest group of tourists to South Korea is from China.

Played with the S10+ in a store and it's a really great phone. That screen design is gorgeous. But to be honest, while the software has improved, it's still nowhere as smooth as iOS or even up there with flagship OnePlus phones or Huawei phones. If there was a reliable way to install iOS 12 on the S10+ hardware...oh boy...

Besides the specs mentioned in the report, I think this Galaxy phone is the first to beat Apple in speed tests and benchmarks. I think Apple should be worried.

Working in an industry where I often have gloves on, or cooking or whatever that makes your hands messy, it's been SO nice to not have to rely on fingerprint. I love Face ID.

I like Face ID too but, now that you got the phone unlocked, how do you actually use it if you got gloves on or you’re cooking? Siri voice recognition isn’t all that great and is impractical when navigating webpages etc.

I know I’m in a ever-growing minority here, but I like the iPhone design language, including the notch, and prefer iPhone hardware to everything else on the market. I’ve held the latest Android flagships (not the new S10 models) and they just don’t feel as premium. Even my XR, which feels slightly less premium than the XS, feels more premium than the Note 9, Pixel 3, OnePlus 6T, etc.

The $900 USD S10, with 8 GB of DRAM & 10-bit color "video" capture, is the current "Benchmark" in smartphones !

I find it surprising that AAPL never figured-out that an iPhone with 6-8 GB of DRAM could be a BIG seller.

I find it interesting that Kuo doesn't even mention 10-bit color "video" capture ... it is a BIG deal !

And it has no notch!

I wish Apple had not abandoned the fingerprint sensor. I am not against facial recognition, but I still want a fingerprint unlock.

EDIT: Oh yea, and Samsung still offers a traditional audio jack. Apple screwed up eliminating these two things.
Still with the headphone jack?

Apple includes a wired pair for no charge. BT works fine. There is an adapter if you really need it.

Anyway, for me---not an issue, but to each their own I suppose.

The fingerprint authentication is often more convenient, e.g. when using Apple Pay. Also, the Face ID sensors are what caused the "notch". I'd much prefer a small "hole punch" front camera like Samsung is now using (and brilliantly integrated in the UI) ...

Actually you’re wrong. I’ve had every iPhone with Touch ID for the exception of the SE versions and the iPhone 8. I’ve had the iPhone X and XS Max. I could tell you without a doubt, Face ID is more convenient and easier to use than Touch ID. Also the notch is almost invisible, what I mean by that is you only notice it when you think about it.

We'll see if this momentum carries over into the coming year...or if it's just a pre-order, gotta have it, phase.
I don't really understand the pre-order hype. Everyone must know these things get discounted by hundreds of dollars like 60 days after release. If I were interested in a new Samsung, I'd wait the two or three months and save a few hundo.

Thankfully, most of us don't want to live in an echo chamber like you. If you cannot comprehend why news about iPhone's competition is relevant and interesting to iPhone fans, there's just nothing to do but let you enjoy your own ignorance.

Oh puhleeze....Samsung is garbage

Well I'm using an S8, saw the S10 in person, and do plan to upgrade. I'm glad the physical size has stayed essentially the same, and the screen and camera bumps make it worth the purchase. I switched from iPhone to Galaxy 6 years ago because of price and customizability, and it's a little crazy the differences have only widened. 64GB iPhone Xs for sgd$1649 or 128GB Galaxy S10 for sgd$1298 (which will probably go on sale to $1098 after 6 months or so). Been waiting for Apple to release an iPhone to entice me back, looks like this is yet another year that certainly won't happen. Also, 30% increase is massive when you're talking bout units in the millions.

yes Face ID is good..but with gloves on..what do you do? unlock your phone with Face ID..sure..but still you have to remove your gloves to use the phone right? or is it just to view the content of your notifications?? which can be viewed with gloves on a device without Face ID.

This is one thing I can never understand about a Galaxy release. I realize it’s not or normally is not as packed or big as an iPhone release (at least in the earlier days), but everyone and there granny knows within 60 days these phones will already have great discounts... Why not wait???

With that said let me get Into this next thing. I’m Apple through and through always have been and plan on hopefully always being on an iPhone. Right now I’m typing on my Xʀ while staring at my X and XS Max. The Xʀ had been my go to since its launch day, but besides all of that and as Apple “fanboys” we have trouble admitting when Apple makes any mistake. We try and make it seem “better” then it is...

However ... Samsung got a grand slam with this S10 release. If they were EVER gonna get coverts this will be the year. Apple essentially tried to throw TouchID away and make us think we no longer need it... then the S10 comes with a in display scanner and facial recognition (I know it’s not as secure as FaceID).

Let’s not even start on display tech. The S10 display is most definitely the best screen ever on a smartphone. The hole punch is subjective however just like the notch. That can’t take away from the fact that this phone the Galaxy S10 is a beast, monster whatever... I mean it sucks to have to say that, but it is truth..

The A12 is still the A12 and I know it’s a better chip than the 855, but Samsung has beaten Apple in the hardware department this year thus far...
