Actually you’re wrong.
I'm not wrong. I have a different opinion. And it's the right one. :p
I’ve had every iPhone with Touch ID for the exception of the SE versions and the iPhone 8. I’ve had the iPhone X and XS Max. I could tell you without a doubt, Face ID is more convenient and easier to use than Touch ID.
Nothing is easier than simply holding the phone to a payment terminal with the thumb on the button.
Also the notch is almost invisible, what I mean by that is you only notice it when you think about it.
To each their own. I find it irritating, especially in landscape mode.

Going back to my iPhone 7+ feels like visiting a museum. Just picking up your device and, you know, looking at it, is the most natural and unobtrusive biometric ever created. I’d never go back.
That’s true, but fingerprint readers also have their pros. One big one is a factor in Asia. A lot of us wear masks to protect us from pollen or pollution or other people who are sick. It’s kind of annoying having to pull it down just to avoid entering my passcode or to use Apple Pay.

I know the new Samsungs are impressive, and I’m glad to see them elevating the game, but there just is nothing on the Android market tempting enough to leave iOS and all of the benefits of the Apple ecosystem, at least for me personally. I’m already looking forward to the XS replacement this Fall.

It’s going to look the same with maybe frosted glass. We’ll get a spec bump in processor, the same battery life and a thinner phone with a little better camera. I don’t foresee it being anything special unfortunately.

Not a shock when every tech YouTuber is making a thousand and one videos about the phone.

Glad to see super-wide cameras coming to phones. I think they’ll be especially useful for video, because you lose quite a bit of vertical field of view in video because of the wider aspect ratio. Also, software image stabilization requires cropping the video a bit. It’s no wonder people often shoot vertical video.

A second FaceID profile with that mask on won’t work?

An interesting insight into cultural differences though that Apple might not have covered.

I honestly have no idea why people don't get how great Face ID is. I just look at my phone, and boom it unlocks. I have Touch ID on my iPad, and I hate it now. I use my password more than half the time rather than Touch ID.

Makes sense, people will pay a premium for obvious features like triple camera and under display fingerprint readers.

Huawei used that strategy last year and it worked. Samsung followed with the S10. Apple will do this same this year with the camera.

Face ID is fun, but in the end, it's just another form of biometrics.
It's a much better form of biometrics than Touch ID. Only people who haven't used Face ID can say that.

How is an under display fingerprint reader an improvement over what existed before?

LOL, nothing is easier than simply looking at your phone, and unlocking it. The only person who could say such a thing is an unimaginative person who's never used Touch ID. Moreover, from what I gather one will need to look at these Galaxy phones to unlock them.

The notch simply isn't an issue, and it looks better than that awful hole Samsung has.

It ultimately comes down to choice. Had apple offered both touch and Face ID for a time, most would see () Face ID is the superior authentication method. But since they “forced” it, people will seemingly argue this until the end of time.

This is one thing I can never understand about a Galaxy release. I realize it’s not or normally is not as packed or big as an iPhone release (at least in the earlier days), but everyone and there granny knows within 60 days these phones will already have great discounts... Why not wait???

With that said let me get Into this next thing. I’m Apple through and through always have been and plan on hopefully always being on an iPhone. Right now I’m typing on my Xʀ while staring at my X and XS Max. The Xʀ had been my go to since its launch day, but besides all of that and as Apple “fanboys” we have trouble admitting when Apple makes any mistake. We try and make it seem “better” then it is...

However ... Samsung got a grand slam with this S10 release. If they were EVER gonna get coverts this will be the year. Apple essentially tried to throw TouchID away and make us think we no longer need it... then the S10 comes with a in display scanner and facial recognition (I know it’s not as secure as FaceID).

Let’s not even start on display tech. The S10 display is most definitely the best screen ever on a smartphone. The hole punch is subjective however just like the notch. That can’t take away from the fact that this phone the Galaxy S10 is a beast, monster whatever... I mean it sucks to have to say that, but it is truth..

The A12 is still the A12 and I know it’s a better chip than the 855, but Samsung has beaten Apple in the hardware department this year thus far...
How has Samsung hit it out of the park with this incredibly pedestrian release? It's a boring, incremental release. Why would anyone want to go back to Touch ID? Their facial recognition scanner is worse than useless because if it was useless no one would bother using it. If you use it, it's completely insecure (one reviewer unlocked it with a video of their face).

This is very straightforward,Samsung S10 is innovative, and packed with the latest technology, build quality is excellent, design and engineering are perfect, there is no compromise, pricing is reasonable with free wireless earbuds for pre-orders and great trade in schemes.
It will be a hit and people will buy.

on iPhone camp though,we got 2 heavily over priced phones, with features that should have been standard iPhone update features,no innovation, average engineering and design,+ one low end model with low resolution, outdated LCD display, just one camera yet this model is still more expensive than last years premium model (8 Plus).

Of course sales will tank, record low and they have to cut prices over and over and reduce production.

How is the s10 innovative? It's nothing more than an incremental improvement over the s9. The only innovative thing that could be said is the finger print reader and the hole in the screen. As far as sales tanking that could apply to any phone. Not taking anything away, but not to over-aggrandize the S10.

I’d hold out for the Note if I were going to switch to Samsung. I do agree Samsung killed this release. S10 series are great looking phones.

I don't really understand the pre-order hype. Everyone must know these things get discounted by hundreds of dollars like 60 days after release. If I were interested in a new Samsung, I'd wait the two or three months and save a few hundo.

I think you get free Samsung Airpods equivalents as a free bonus when you pre-order. That should cover the losses for a few months/weeks.

LOL, what is innovative about the Galaxy phones? I would also add that Kuo was super bullish about the iPhones last year and is very bullish about them later on.

Meanwhile, of course the XR costs less than the 8 Plus did when it was released, and while it's popular for unimaginative people to quote the specs for the XR screen, I've seen them and the look great (I have a X phone so I'm very used to OLED screens). Meanwhile, of course Android fanboys didn't have any problems with the Pixel's single rear camera which they absolutely creamed over.

Silly, silly comment.

I'm happy the S10 looks to be a hit, as it will provide more competition and help keep Apple honest. As much as I love Apple (all-in on ecosystem, MBP w/ TB, iPhone X, iPad Pro), the number of times they've skimped out "just because they can", eg. little things like not providing a real fast charger with premium-priced iPhone X's. I hope lagging iPhone sales and a strong competitor convinces Apple that gone are the days they can just err on the side of doing the minimum and still crush it quarter after quarter... a little bit of "going beyond" and making their customers feel valued would be a welcome change for me!

This Samsung 10 is full of GIMMICKS! People love the notch, people love poor battery live over thickness, people love new emojis...

Who cares about ultrasonic fingertip detection? Who gives a damn about an all-screen front and Powerful cameras??

People like innovation, like removing the ability to turn off wifi from Control Center and bumping price tags.

Exactly my opinion, I really thought there would be more to this phone than there is. It's really bizarre how some of the Android fanboys act like this phone would make the 2nd Coming of Jesus page 3 news. It's a very good phone with some flaws but every major flagship phone released in the past 3 years is very good. What is there about this phone that would make someone who owns an S8 say really want to rush out, and get this one?
[doublepost=1551929599][/doublepost]
feels like Samsung rumors page!
Apparently Android phones are so bad that Android fanboys have lots of time on their hands to come over to Apple sites to post comments.

The people who want to argue about Touch ID are frankly morons who don't want to change at all. Of course, you have all of the Android fanboys who think anything Android does is great no matter how stupid it is (witness the Android fanboys who thought putting the fingerprint sensor was a great idea but who now think an inscreen sensor is the greatest idea ever when of course the only thing it fixes is putting a sensor on the back of the phone...)

you're really gonna win over fans here with an attitude like that.

I would love to have a X and XS Max on top of my XR, just to switch around. :D On a serious note, I’ve read the in display fingerprint sensor isn’t as fast or accurate as Touch ID, which to be fair, is to be expected for a Gen 1 implementation. Having gotten used to Face ID, I appreciate the speed and convenience. Apple Pay is incredibly easy. I appreciate Samsung’s hardware, but I prefer Apple’s hardware and software.

LOL, the same people creaming their pants over the ultrasonic fingertip detection were the ones who thought that moving the fingerprint sensor to the back of the phone was a good idea (the main thing the ultrasonic fingerprint sensor really does it lets you move the sensor to the front of the phone). These are the same people who don't get how much better Face ID is than fingerprint readers, but then of course they love 2013 tech in new clothes. As for the new screen, Samsung's shaved a couple of mms off the bezels while leaving a gaping hole in the front while the cameras are at best an incremental improvement.

Of course, the Android fanboys are trapped in the Google reality distortion field, and so they're super excited about this phone.

If people aren't intelligent enough to grasp how much better Face ID is at this point, there's nothing anyone can say to reach them. The Touch ID crowd are either people so completely set in their ways they won't change (and for the most part, those people aren't on here) or people so committed to the Android ideology in which everything about Android is better than everything about Apple there's nothing one can do to reach them. The Android fanboys who are enraptured with fingerprint sensors are the same people who last year thought putting the sensors on the back of the phone was a great idea.

The only really good argument I've read for the superiority of fingerprint scanners is the one someone posted about how so many people in Asia wear masks over their faces for health reasons. Look, when I read that Samsung had iris scanners, I thought that was amazing until I found out how insecure they were.

Just picking up your device and, you know, looking at it, is the most natural and unobtrusive biometric ever created. I’d never go back.

For most of the developed world where people drive a car, having to take your eyes off the road everytime to unlock your phone feels like using a rotary phone. Fingerprint, on the other hand, can be unlocked by touch.

He's wrong because he finds fingerprint sensor more convenient? Bold statement. I'm sure everyone has a different opinion on which is better for them and how they use their phone. For me, the fingerprint sensor on the back of my phone works best for me. My phone is always in my front pocket. When I put my hand in my pocket it's already unlocked by the time I even look at the screen. Again...different situations for everyone.

Seems like a nice phone but Android... no thanks. If they released their top-end phones with Tizen I might consider. Haven't checked how it is these days but its roots are in MeeGo and that was awesome!

Working in an industry where I often have gloves on, or cooking or whatever that makes your hands messy, it's been SO nice to not have to rely on fingerprint. I love Face ID.
Living in a world where I like to have my phone flat on my desk, it's been SO nice to have a phone that doesn't require Face ID. I love using the fingerprint method. Not to mention when I'm in a meeting and don't want to lift up the phone in front of others to see I'm unlocking it... or if I'm laying in bed, or if I have my face mask on when waiting for the bus.
