I want a <13" Macbook again. I preferred the 11" Macbook Air, and currently have a 12" Macbook, but I'd really love a 11" or 12" Macbook Air of the current format with Touch ID/Face ID. The 13" is just too big to carry around despite the weight. It doesn't fit a smaller bag along with other stuff etc.

That or an iPad OS anno 2025 I guess.

I want an 18" Macbook Pro.

15" is too small by a lot.

Eighteen inches. Scale it up.

Apple registered 5 new iPad models in Europe and they've only presented one since then . I think that we will see a new iPad pro in October

Thank goodness!
There aren't nearly enough iPad models right now.
I'd like to see one at every 0.2" increment if possible...

iPhones though?
3 sizes max and NOTHING small. We must only have big, bigger and HUGE for iPhones.

No question - I think Joanna Stern reported on her issues with the 2019 MBA for WSJ also, yeah?

No, I think Joanna had a 2018 model. Pretty sure of that. Unless there was a subsequent review that I missed, her first review was earlier in the year, definitely the 2018 model. Apple even wrote a response apologizing for the problem.

+1 for Affinity products -- I'm learning Publisher as a means of replacing the ever-expensive and slugglish InDesign and plan to learn Photo to replace the affordable but resource-hog Photoshop. If they released Publisher for iPad, I would very much be down for the upgrade.

I'm already somewhat in need of an upgrade but can wait -- I'll keep my original iPad Pro 12.9" chugging while I look forward to the better Pencil design and FaceID.

They already confirmed publisher coming to ipad in 2020 at the launch event of the publisher program

No, Apple registered (at least) 7 new iPad models with the EEC, and so far four of them are as yet still not spoken for:

Three of the EEC registered model numbers are different models of the 10.2" iPad. The 10.2" iPad has four model numbers, but the one that wasn't registered with the EEC was a Chinese model, so that makes sense.

Note that there are a total of 8 model numbers for the 3rd generation iPad Pro, so presumably there would be 8 for the 4th generation iPad Pro as well, but not all of them would need to be registered with the EEC either.

There is no guarantee that a new scissor keyboard won't have problems too.
This is actually exactly what worries me. There’s no telling if the new scissor mechanism will be as reliable as the old one. The practical side of me says wait a few months after release to see what the reviews say, especially since I’ve been waiting this long, what’s another year or so...

" Why change it if there was nothing wrong?"
Why they change scissors to butterfly?
Progress.

Agreed. This is one of the reasons I just went for it and bought the 2019 MBA. I loved my 2014 MBA, but it was time to update. I was concerned about the whole keyboard thing, but I figured the latest iteration plus warranty gave me enough coverage to pull the trigger.

That said, I am retired. I still do some business, but I can manage a few days of downtime if repair or replacement is necessary. Other people might not be in this situation, so I understand their anxiety.

In fact, I confess that this Spring, I bought my son the 2017 MBA for college rather than the latest model MBA. This was before the 4th gen keyboard iteration, but honestly, I might do the same thing today....not sure. I really wanted him to have a reliable workhorse of a computer for university, and downtime can be devastating when term paper deadlines loom large at midnight.

" I remember, the 2015 MBP keyboard was so good that when I first used it,"

I hated it. worst keyboard I ever use. Butterfly is amazing.

The eGPU via TB3 is metered thus efficiency and speed will suffer, not to mention the fact that most of the video editing software is not really optimized to work with eGPU. Also, I have allot of weird stuff happening when using an eGPU , like multiple disconnects , system slow down etc .
They can take the power brick outside of the mac mini enclosure and make room for a decent graphic .

I know plenty of people with no issues - even with the slight over ahead, any desktop class card you get isn't going to kill a mobile integrated solution from AMD Apple would put inside, it's not like they're going to give you a Vega 64 in there.

I hope you are not serious. The butterfly mechanism is clunky, noisy and overall downgrade. I have both and I will never say butterfly is better. The scissor is just far superior in comfort and typing in general. Its also very quiet unlike the butterfly. Overall, I'm glad they are going back to scissors as that was one proven and amazing design. I hope they won't kill the travel distance.

I mean everyone has an opinion and ours differ. Many people think the same as me. It's by a long way the most satisfying keyboard i've ever typed on. It's definitely not louder than scissor MacBook keyboard though, no where near - my girlfriend still has an old MacBook Air and her typing is insanely loud compared to my 2018 MacBook Pro, the 3rd gen is much quieter you can barely hear the keys.

Thankfully it definitely won't be the old scissor mechanism, it's already said they've improved the travel and stability with less wobble and more positive input. As said it's much more likely to be like the Magic Keyboard, probably with even less travel, somewhere in-between that and current Butterfly mechanism.

If they gave me the choice though i'd pick the butterfly to order, i'd take the chance of a keyboard I prefer with less reliability than one that is changed just because of reliability.

of course we are all different but I would question the noise levels. Butterfly has always been louder for me and I type with all 10 fingers without looking at the keyboard as that is how I was trained at school as it was part of the curriculum. Not saying I'm typing professional but I doubt the butterfly is quieter. If you type correctly then by default the butterfly is just louder. Unless they changed the latest design more as I don't have the latest keyboard but the one before.

Butterflies are not quieter, even the very latest ones.

Anybody observing quieter typing on butterflies versus scissor switches is finding that result due to technique or style of the typist

Interesting. I just went and checked every single car sold in America and every single charging port available in every single public place and to my surprise...they were all still USB-A, despite your claim.

This is precisely the Apple mantra.

The only way to get the new Apple keyboard for the rest of the year and first few months of next year will be to buy the $2700+ MacBook Pro.

They know exactly what they're doing. Anyone looking at a MacBook Pro vs. MacBook is going to have to seriously consider the vastly improved expensive model, and many will bite.

You checked every single car? You may need to check again... just checked the one I own and all 3 charging ports are USB-C only. You can google the BMW M340 for proof, but below is one of many articles to support my claim:

I do not use the back camera of my iPads, so this and the 3 cameras Rumors are not exciting for me at all. I prefer a cheaper “pro” model with only one camera. I care about better screen, cpu and ram..

Had to call out the user that “checked every car”.

It was a stretch, no question..

In that users defense, I'm in rental cars for business almost every week (full range of quality), usually several, and I've seen exactly one USB-C port so far (had USB-A also). It's pretty sparse out there (just being fair about it).

It will be interesting to see if Apple, for the first time, releases a better camera in an iPad before including it in an iPhone. I have my doubts the 2020 iPad Pro will get a new TOF system before the 2020 iPhone has it.

I hope new 13” models do come this month.
my wife has taken ownership of my 2010 mbp which is still working perfectly. Changed to an ssd a year or two back and it still runs like new with an average of 5 hours use everyday for 10 years. 7 of those 10 it was my desktop computer and never got shut off. It was connected 24/7.
I got a Mac mini last year as I rarely need a laptop, but just this month I found myself needing one going forward. As my wife now has mine I bought a 2019 13” mbp and it was terrible. Sticking keys on day 2 and awful to type on.
my 2010 model is much much better.
so I returned it after a week and I’m hoping the new ones come soon as you couldn’t pay me to use that keyboard.

my Mac mini has a das keyboard pro and it is a dream compared to any laptop. But at least the 2010 is usable unlike the junk sold today.
If it wasn’t for wanting macOS I’d be done with Apple after 25 years of using their computers.

same goes for iPhone. If they don’t release a phone that’s the same size or smaller overall than my SE then I’ll keep it until it dies and then look elsewhere. I had an XS for 8 months and really didn’t like it. I grabbed another SE when Costco had some a couple months back and couldn’t be happier.
4” is the perfect screen size.
