We haven't even gotten reviews yet of the improved iPhone 12 Pro Max camera. I wonder how much of a jump next year's phones will have in photography. It feels like Apple is holding back features just to drag out the next iPhones.
I imagine the iPhone 13 will have the camera tech from the 12 Pro line

I supposed we’d be getting iPhone ”13” or whatever name that‘ll be in less than a year timeframe, here it is why i decided to go with 12 mini this year as an experiment since we’re under pandemic times. I’ll wait for next year for promotion pros with better specs.

It’s funny- a lot more people around the world (Asia, specifically) are a lot more horrified by the number four than thirteen... Apple had no problem selling the iPhone 4.

Superstition is a major driver of many weak minded people, and some who know better, and being partly cultural, it’s hard to root it out of people’s mindset.

In fairness, Apple wasn't as interested in reaching to get a part of China's market as they seem to be now. If they were, they likely wouldn't have called them the iphone 4 and 4s.

They sold the crap out of them in Japan, which is just as wigged-out about “4” as China.

On launch day for the 4, I saw a line going around the block at the Ginza store... and those are some BIG blocks in that neighborhood.

With apple ditching the charger and headphones, it was my understanding that apple, with the iphone 13/14, will ditch the phone itself, and claim they are trying to be environmentally friendly as there are too many iphones out there.....Of course if you really want the phone you can pay another $999 on top of the original $999 you already paid for...because apple fan boys/girls are morons.

I upgrade every year primarily for the camera. If the ultra wide is the only camera that gets an upgrade, that will be a hard pass for me, even on Verizon’s upgrade plan.

Touch ID doesn’t work with gloves, wet/dirty hands etc. There is no perfect bio-authentication method.

Given apple has surpassed the $1T mark it seems Tim Cook learned plenty. But not everybody can be satisfied at the same time.
You are wrong, sir. They’ve passed the $2T mark. You’re only off by a trillion. Wake up. Lol

No Touch ID? Didn't Tim Cook learn anything? The iPhone SE (2nd generation) is sold immensely well this year, and Touch ID was one of the many reasons why. The COVID-19 pandemic is likely going to be around until a vaccine is available, which, at the earliest, could be middle or late 2021. Therefore, people will likely have to wear masks when the 2021 iPhone is released, and Face ID doesn't works with masks. Only Touch ID works with masks. What horrible leadership by Tim Cook if the 2021 iPhone lacks Touch ID!
Geez, chill dude! The 12 Pro Max and Mini just became available for pre-order a couple of days ago! We have a ways to go before we know anything about the future of Touch ID on the iPhone! Having seen the way it has been implemented into the iPad Air, I wouldn’t be at all surprised to see a similar integration into the iPhone. One big issue though may be the space it requires. The 12 series have already increased slightly in size due mostly to the inclusion of 5G. It is getting pretty crowded inside that little space!

However I’m sure that if they can work it in, we'll all see your post here apologizing to Mr. Cook, right?

You have some advanced knowledge that Touch ID will not be part of this new model phone? That is why you accuse Tim Cook? Remember that you are reading about an early rumor on a phone that will not be released for another year. Perhaps some of the speculation is accurate or perhaps not. Perhaps there will be other changes that are not listed yet. There may yet be surprises in store.

I think I'll just stick with my 11 Pro Plus until it wears out, breaks or they quit supporting it. The technology is at a plateau as far as I'm concerned. Why spend any more bucks on it?

TF International Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has released a new research note, seen by MacRumors, that details his expectations for next year's iPhone lineup, tentatively dubbed "iPhone 13," including some positive shipment predictions based on a number of factors.

iphone12proframe.jpg

According to Kuo, the iPhone 13 will come in the same four model sizes as this year's iPhone 12, but with some major improvements to the camera technology. Specifically, Kuo says the Ultra Wide cameras on the two high-end models will be significantly upgraded to f/1.8, 6P (six-element lens) with autofocus. All the current iPhone 12 models are equipped with f/2.4, 5P (five-element lens) Ultra Wide cameras with fixed focus.

Looking further ahead, Kuo says he also expects all the new 2022 iPhones (tentatively called the iPhone 14 series) to be equipped with the same improved Ultra Wide camera with f/1.8, 6P and autofocus. Kuo states that Largan is likely to become the major supplier of voice coil motors (VCM) for the improved Ultra Wide cameras. It is expected that Largan will obtain about 70% of the VCM orders for the iPhone 13 under the advantages of vertical integration of lens production and VCM, versus 50% of the iPhone 12 series' Ultra Wide angle lens.

Kuo believes that shipments for the iPhone 13 will increase year-on-year and offers a positive outlook for the supply chain due to several factors, including a more robust 5G infrastructure in 2H21, a return to the traditional September timeframe for iPhone mass production and sale, and the aforementioned significant camera improvements to iPhone 13.

iPhone 13 rumors from other sources have been thin on the ground, although the notch on Apple's 2021 "iPhone 13" lineup may be smaller, according to one leaker. Display analyst Ross Young has also claimed the 2021 devices will come in the same sizes as the ‌iPhone 12‌ models, and will sport 120Hz-capable ProMotion displays, improved camera sensors, and sub-6GHz 5G connectivity.

I still get confused,Kuo says the Ultra Wide cameras on the two high-end models will be significantly upgraded to f/1.8, 6P (six-element lens) with autofocus in iPhone 13 high-end model and in iPhone 14 in 2022 same improved Ultra Wide camera with f/1.8, 6P and autofocus means no any changes in camera in iPhone 13 and iPhone 14 series?

iPhone 13 sounds more like a iPhone 12S release.
'iPhone 14' should have touchID an faceID - gives customers more choice, no notch, ProMotion (120Hz+ display), and USB-C.
Please, no folding phones.

I would not be getting it anyway as I'm buying the mini this year, but I really hope they ship a Pro mini at some point.

🤞🤞🤞
I totally agree I think they missed the boat making the mini ‘non pro’ this year. Many ppl out there who want an amazing camera but not a huge phone to lug around

If they keep the smaller mAh batteries, those improvements will eat it up. I might end up with this 11 Pro Max for as long as I kept my 7 Plus at this rate.

Definitely need Touch ID on my next phone. I like Face ID but it's just not feasible for a mask wearing society.

Can we get 48MP or 64MP sensor in iPhone 13 Series? and can we get Anamorphic Lense and Periscope zoom lens in iPhone 13 or we have to wait until iPhone 14 Series in 2022?

They were said to be testing a 64MP camera for this year but decided against it. I think it’s highly likely they go for a bigger mp for 2021.

This is typical apple boy (who they probably pay somehow) to so-called release leaks...boring apple at least change your routine so it is not easily readable. 12 just came out and already pretending to be releasing leaks for 13...give us a break

And what about Anamorphic Lens and Periscope zoom Lens, can we get in iPhone 13 in 2021 or wait until iPhone 14 in 2022?

Kuo said periscope lens in 2022 so i imagine that will be accurate. Maybe by then we will see up to 10x optical. I would hope for better than 5x given samsung had 5x this year would hope two years later it would have progressed by then
