I wish they would put a 5x or 10x zoom with a decent lens on it, instead of 2x, which is not good enough.
I wish Apple puts a physical fingerprint sensor on all models at least and shrink the huge notch! The top speakers can be repositioned.
While the battery size is probably not a problem, I expect a shift to USB-C port. Thermal throttling is a serious issue on the current iPhones because of the lack of any passive cooling, making the 5-year update policy a bit of a gimmick.

This would be disappointing if correct. I just got my iPhone X replaced due to a bad battery and the new one works just fine. Since cameras aren’t a big deal to me, it looks like I will be waiting for the iPhone 14.
Not a trivial task to design a 5-10x lens this small and retain image quality. Highly sensitive to shake, more difficult to stabilize, aperture too small, etc.
Yep, I was itching to upgrade from my iPhone8Plus this year to a Pro model. Now I kind of feel that I can wait another 6 months because of the lack of TouchId.
This is a major fail. Somehow they put TouchID on the new iPadAir but couldn't use the same part on the iPhone. Somehow Google was able to switch back this year to a finger sensor.
But I don't know if this will hurt them with other people upgrading.
What I want more than anything is for the Pro Phones to start using Solid State batteries so that its lighter but has a greater battery capacity. Been waiting for this for years.
Touch ID doesn’t work with gloves, wet/dirty hands etc. There is no perfect bio-authentication method.
Given apple has surpassed the $1T mark it seems Tim Cook learned plenty. But not everybody can be satisfied at the same time.

I foresee two major changes with the iPhone 13 models:
1. The cellular radio modem chip will be the newer Qualcomm Snapdragon X60, which will be way more power efficient than the Snapdragon X55.
2. All models will switch to LTPO (Low Temperature Polycrystalline Oxide) OLED displays, which will allow the addition of 12 Hz to 120 Hz variable refresh rate ProMotion functionality.

Solid state batteries, bet you still need patience, I bet another 4-5 years.
My guess is that the iPad Air was always intended to have only Touch ID, to reserve Face ID for the “Pro” models. As for Google, they don’t produce phones in the volumes that Apple does.
We haven't even gotten reviews yet of the improved iPhone 12 Pro Max camera. I wonder how much of a jump next year's phones will have in photography. It feels like Apple is holding back features just to drag out the next iPhones.

So none of these "improvements" help me get access to my phone in our COVID reality world.
Don't care about the notch. Don't care about 5G or LIDAR, cutting edge processors, or old is new again square edges.
I care that gaining access to any of these incremental, "justify a new model each year" improvements requires me to remove my mask or use the clunky "second chance" keypad sign in option everytime to use the phone.
Apple needs to re-boot Touch ID (like new iPad Air) and/or modify Face ID to be mask tolerant. Not sexy but also not tone deaf to today's reality of using the device.

Can we not just enjoy the phone that just launched? Seriously, all of these leaks ruin the surprise out of Apple’s Events and secondly, I never feel like I have the latest phone because as soon as it comes out, I’m already being told about the next one and the features I don’t have. Pretty annoying if you ask me
It’s pretty much a given that the next generation iPhone should be better than this year’s model. Only question is - by how much?
Will this be a iPhone 6 -> 6s kind of situation?
Seems like I'm going to skip too. Also with these prices the new models starts to feel like robbery. I retuned my 12 Pro and went back to 6S. Maybe I will "upgrade" to SE2 when 6S HW quits itself.
