All I can say is don’t rush to be an early adopter. I would wait until March next year when all the kinks in the production line have worked out. That’s what I did with my iPhone X. It’s been rock solid hardware wise.

Apple is facing quality control issues with the rear iPhone 14 camera lens, causing some lenses to crack due to a coating, Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo said today on Twitter. The issue has resulted in Apple reallocating iPhone 14 camera orders to a different supplier, helping mitigate the impact on device shipments later this fall.

Kuo said the impact on iPhone 14 shipments will be minimal thanks to a new supplier stepping in and hopefully addressing the issue. iPhone 14 shipments are expected to be higher than the iPhone 13 with Samsung reportedly preparing 80 million iPhone 14 display shipments for the third quarter of this year.

Mass production of the iPhone 14 series, which will include the 6.1-inch iPhone 14, 6.7-inch iPhone 14 Max, 6.1-inch iPhone 14 Pro, and 6.7-inch iPhone 14 Pro Max, is set to begin in August ahead of a launch in September. The iPhone 14 is expected to be a noteworthy upgrade on the higher-end models, which rumors suggest will feature a new pill-shaped cutout and hole to replace the notch, a 48MP rear camera, faster RAM, and an always-on display.

Apple will not bother, they release all Products with flaw and put service program for 2 years game over, they are the only Trillion Dollar company to have all the products faulty.

A coating that cracked the sapphire lens? Damn, it’s not as durable as I thought.

Oh dear. That's very last minute.

Crackgate

Homie don't play dat! Crackety-Crack.

" iPhone 14 Facing Quality Control Issues Over Rear Camera Lens Cracking, But No Disruptions Expected for Launch" LMAO yeah right! IF the rear lens is cracking this late in the early production stages ... either Apple needs to start working with Zeiss for their lens and stop playing games.

iPhone 12 and 13 series exhibits huge lens flare with any source light pointing at the camera - ruining pictures! not many phones in the competition does this.

Should probably wait for the 15 Pro with the telescopic lens, if you're still happy with your 12 or 13.
Sony has been making real strides which theirs and recent FW update for their 1 mIV has made it better. Something photographers can really use. Boggles me why Apple hasn't implemented it yet - the Xperia 1 IV is slimmer than the iPhone 13 series btw.

QC never stopped Apple from releasing a product on time. Can alway be addressed at customers’ inconvenience.
Exactly. They just deny any wrongdoings, deny repair claiming it's "cosmetic," or simply say it's user's fault and charge customer a lot of money, and then silently release a short-term repair program for small number of specific batches. Seems like the MO of the current Apple. Anything to save a buck and maximize earnings.

That was an issue with the iPhone 6 (first iPhone to introduce the camera bump). I never put a case on my phone and the damn thing cracked from normal use. Never dropped. Fortunately, I was able to get it replaced under AppleCare. I remember the "Genius" telling me that he set his 6 down on tables all the time without a case. I told him I didn't care what his experience was, mine cracked.

Basically all phones bar a few struggle with lens flare

and we don’t know when apple realized the cracking issue. The fact it won’t affect launch shows it’s not an issue

At this point might as well just give up on the new 14 and just staple the number 14 on iPhone 13 hardware, no one will notice anyway.

Seriously, the 14 feels like such a dud already, the only thing saving it from flopping extremely hard is the Max size variant.

If anyone wants a base model iPhone, get the 13 or wait for next year.

No lens flare for iPhone 8 / X / Xr or earlier models that I've used. Since the 12 series there is a newer blue-ish tint being used that was not there before. Have a look right at the camera lens through the glass of models I've mentioned you'll see a clear difference - also in the pictures taken.
