I love my iPhone 13 Mini.

It's to early to say for sure, as only people with money and Apple Fanboys buy on release day ;)

But the price difference between iPhone 14 plus and iPhone 14 Pro Max, is just to little. One might as well go Pro.

The mini was a totally different product, that made way for costumers longing for a small one handed device (which funnily enough has a larger screen than the iPhone 8 Plus :p).

Oh, and European costumers are struggling just to pay the electric bill, and Apple have chosen to raise the price even higher. So that will of cause also impact salesnumbers.

Give me an iPhone 15 mini Pro (in aluminium) not that heavy steel crap. And I'll throw my money at you

Every single color and capacity of the 14 and 14 Plus will be available for delivery on their slated launch dates. It's almost insulting that they would dare recycle last years chip. The customer isn't as ignorant as they thought and that did not go unnoticed.

You would be buying a new device that feels/acts like an old device. If can’t get pro might as well wait till next year and get the new display, faster processor and other newly released features. What answer going to have for investors. Better hit it big at the next event.

The fact that a lot of the target demographic is facing quite high inflation and some places might even be on the brink of a recession probably doesn’t help.

They do respond. That’s why it’s getting more expensive in EUR and GBP.

I know they respond, always have, always will.... unfortunately some people on here think it's just Apple being greedy.

Personally I love new tech.

For my peers, they didn’t see the need to upgrade or want to justify the cost increased compared to last year.

I could still see availability for launch day about 30-40 mins after pre-order opened when I checked back

I have a 12 pro. I usually upgrade every other year, as long as there is a significant technological (for my use case) and/or aesthetic change. There is nothing compelling me to buy a 14 pro as the 12 pro functions just fine, even with a 3 year interest free pmt plan.

Additionally, I was a little disappointed going from the X to the 12pro with the exception of the camera.

Note: phones is primarily used as a phone, with text’s and emails (and those are usually handled by my Macs and iPads anyway).

They seem to only respond in one direction though, just like oil companies

At this point an iPhone is an iPhone and that is fine for some but boring for others. I don't see the need to upgrade from my iPhone 12 Pro at those price points only to go back using the phone the exact same way, with the exact same apps as before.

It was so apparent when I went to a store (like Best Buy) the other day and saw all the iPhones lined up next to each other (iPhone 11, 12, 13 etc.) its all the same while Samsung phones for example actually stand out but too bad those cannot run iOS. Would be an instant buy otherwise. Btw where were people lining up to check out the Flip

Nice thing is I can always sell this off and go back to Android. You can get a heck of a nice Android phone on the used market for a paltry $200. These are becoming appliances.
I laughed at appliances at first… but then on further consideration, that’s exactly what iPhones are now: normal ho-hum “get the job done” commodities that are less and less “special” like they were in the 2000’s/2010’s.

I still say it's just too early to make an article like this... everyone has been jamming the website ordering the Pro, and the base model comes out later.

That said, I wonder how many people just decided to hold onto their old phone another year and upgrade next year, after saving up for a Pro and hoping for USB-C and Island?

Never really understood this line either. I would make sense if they stopped selling last years model, but since they keep selling them I don't really see the point....

The whole iPhone lineup is getting so confusing IMO with this pro/non pro bs. Just have one model in different sizes an be done with it. Thank you bye...

also... Just make a mini pro and I'm sure that will sell like hot cakes...

That's basically apple on the period after they kicked Jobs out and before picking him up again because they where almost bakrupt, a lot of products, confusing lineups, not much coesion, and... for some reason they are repeating the same cicle again, with the diference that there is no Jobs anymore to reshape the company, they are on their own to fix this mess.

For all those moaning about the price in Euros note that the Euro => USD is ~25% down from Jan 2021. Worst of all the outlook is that it might still go down further so Apple has to adjust their prices accordingly. I live in the UK and it's about the same with prices in GBP. So yeah it's bad prices are going up but it's not Apple's fault if the exchange rates change. And as you know all commodities are priced in USD so it's not like Apple can just "eat" the exchange rate change...

Errr... I guess I should point out that the performance cores of the A16 seem to be identical or near identical to the A15 performance cores, albeit with a small clock speed boost. The bigger change is the image processor, but that is driven by the needs of the new camera system, etc.

Very surprised about the 14 plus but if I remember didn't the XR have a lacklustre start and then end up being the best selling phone that year?

Not surprised about the smaller 14. Its basically the same as the 13. I actually think the 14 is the biggest rip off product in Apples line up. If they were smart they would have dropped the 13 from their lineup.

Then we can expect Apple to drop prices in 6 months when these currencies stabilize, right? So why buy now?
True. But regardless, people are blaming them for the price rise instead of what’s happening to currencies. That’s the point I’m making.

I am with IPhone for a number of reasons, but I'll tell you -- we bought my wife a used Samsung Quantum 2 (Which is a Korean-named A82, identically). That thing has a screen that rivals the 13Pro models, is 120hz, has OK battery life, and decent speakers. Cams are about flagship 2 years ago (just ok, but certainly useable for family snaps). You won't be gaming cutting-edge games with it, and don't get it wet, but the CPU was flagship a few years ago. The price? $185, and the thing was barely used at all. To watch content, my daughter puts her IPhone away and watches on mom's $185 Android. No notch. Even has touch ID in the screen -- and it works. Another 3 years of quarterly updates. Appliance.

Elasticity of demand! The phone is using the same chip as last year, so for those in Europe and elsewhere, what is the extra money over the iPhone 13 netting you?

The removal of the SIM tray might be an issue as well. eSIM is not yet supported worldwide but many people living outside the US buys theirs iPhone in the US because is way cheaper there and now they won't be able.

Yeah, the budget buyers aren't as inclined to buy on launch day. XR was the tortoise that won the race. For the same reason I think the Plus will be #1 seller this coming year, although it might be a close race with the 14 non-Pro.

Samsung makes the majority of the OLed panels in iPhones.
