I like the Dynamic Island as it is now. Also had two phones with the notch and liked that also.

Right!? The pop-up selfie cam was genius! I can only imagine what they could do with something like that today. For someone like myself, who maybe takes two or three group selfies a year, tops, I don't care about having a front facing camera at all. But, at least the pop-up selfie camera would do the trick when needed.

Good for you. I’ve got lots of mates so the selfie camera is my most used.

Just gonna get an iPhone 14 or something to tide me over if that is the case. I really don't want to spend big on an iPhone with that ugly marker line on the front.

Now it begins. By April we’ll have a CAD file showing that the iPhone 17 Pro will look barely different from the 16 Pro. Just like the rumour cycle for the 14 Pro.

Yeah, I'm awaiting the inevitable "no significant design changes expected" headline.

The horizontal camera bar may not be much, but if it prevents the phone from wobbling on a desk, it could be a nice improvement. I also just think it looks good, and I hope the rumors end up being true.

Apple is finally admitting that with the camera bar pill redesign that Google's approach to camera lense design was right all along. It has multiple benefits, one main one being that it's a uniform/symmetrical solution that works great when the phone is laying flat on its back and there is no wobble. That aside, visually it's also a much cleaner look than having 3 individual lenses poking out of the back in some random collected area. But Google's placement of the bar is way better than this proposed Apple design.

Once again no mention of who the “reporter” is citing as their source for this. Looking forward to Bloomberg’s follow-up saying their “sources” agree.

I love how we’ve been hearing the same rumor about the notch every single year since 2017 and it’s always wrong
It's not too late to start on iphone 19 rumors. It's gonna have no dynamic island, 48 gigs of ram, 1TB minimum storage, touchID and faceID with the ability to use both, no camera bump at all despite have 4 upgraded cameras that blend in with the finish on the back, and safari will be the snappiest. We think you're gonna love it.

Couldn't care less about the Dynamic Island but LOVE the supposed design of the cameras. The bump on the 16 Pro is just ludicrous.
What’s a better solution? Worse cameras, thicker, much heavier phone with better battery life that everyone would complain about if they bought it at all. Thicker phone with just air inside, or maybe thicker with the best speakers ever seen on a phone? Those are about your only options.

A better solution is the render in this article. I would also take worse cameras and/or a thicker phone.

The problem with the render in the article is it isn’t bound by engineering or physics. The camera still protrudes, though to much less an extent. Which means the cameras are worse. Which I’m ok with too. Now the design of the render 🤮.
Personally speaking my ideal phone would be perfectly flush with the back. I hate the bump too. So whatever the difference is. Looks like about 3mm. So I’d make the phone 1.5mm thicker. Tell the engineers to put whatever camera fits in it and dedicate the extra space to more battery, speakers and an SD card slot. But then sales would fall off a cliff and I’d be looking for a new job.
