Saving features for next year over and over again is going to damage Apple's reputation and market dominance over time. Won't happen right away, but it is a sign of complacency. Although yearly iPhone upgrades are silly to begin with in my opinion.

They have been doing it for a decade. It’s killing them on the stick market it seems. /s

It won’t.

Oh, and dislike camera bumps all you want - but as far as camera bumps go, the Pixel 9’s looks better than the iPhones’.
It also stands much better on a flat surface. Apple solution was always meh. I understand it was due to legacy designs but still.

Maybe Apple figured the camera bar was enough of a form factor change. Save it for next year's update to attract customers.
Ah yes, the camera bar, that according to the illustrations, looks almost identical to the Google Pixel 9 Pro that came out last year. Oh Apple, how far you have fallen.

Honestly i prefer the notch over the dynamic island. That screen space between the island and the edge of the screen is completely useless.

Are you me?!

Exactly. That’s the only design change that I’m actually looking forward to. So of course Apple is going to take their sweet time about it.
Haha

Least favorite 2024 apple rumour: smaller dynamic island to be exclusive to 17 pro max

As a regular pro user I'm very much hoping that one won't pan out!

I have two iPhones. One for work and one for personal use. One has a notch, and the other has Dynamic Island. I never even notice them; they don’t bother me at all. I just use my phones normally. Are you all just staring at the edges and design of your phone all day…?

Agreed

The only time I notice, and don't love, the notch is when I rotate it sideways to watch a video

Sorry about the spelling error. I meant sarcastically that it is killing them on the stock market. As I said. Apple have been doing it for decades. And it works.
Yes, agreed. I ignored the spelling. My statement is that you are correct in that Apple has been rewarded on the stock market. But, my opinion is that this is largely due to riding off of past success (in decade-long timeframes, mind you) and that it won't last forever. They're going to have to ramp up the innovation again at some point, or they'll become a shadow of their former self in 20 years from now. They are doing quite well these days, however, and the innovation is still pretty impressive overall.

It’s a struggle to innovate that last 1% that makes the difference. I guess that’s why they do things like create and invent processes to bind titanium, or mill out a piece of aluminium etc. Even the original sim injector tool was a new process. They gave up on Sapphire Glass as the front of a phone.

Jeff Bezos talks about those 1% increases in processes are the most important as well.

They do all these and get copied like hell. That’s why they say Apple is Samsungs R&D Dept. Just like the new Samsung AVP clone (Android XR). They can focus on software because Apple just built the hardware for them to copy.

If Apple can crack the Glucose Monitor on the Watch, it’ll be a game changer for Health. It took 50 years and a Noble Prize in physics to make a Blue LED light!

They don't bother me directly. It's the icons missing from the status bar because of them that makes it my number 1 hardware request.

I actually use the Dynamic Island daily. It updates me with stuff plus it serves as a quick select tool to get back to a call I am on, and want to browse or text something. I have found it to be super handy.

There is a reason heaps of Android phones are copying the Dynamic Island. Heck even Samsung S25 has used it and put it at the bottom. But it's still there.
