Flat edge won’t look good next to a round edge Apple Watch. In case they go ahead with that they better make a flat edge Watch as well.

I was thinking sapphire glass would be nice, but GT Advanced Technologies and that whole story came to mind.

Few qualms with sapphire/cost:

It’s prone to shattering, although very durable against scratches/scuffs. So depending how the phone lands, you take the risk of shattering the display. Also, if Apple were to use a sapphire display, can you imagine what the cost would be to the consumer? It would only raise the price the iPhone even more. Sapphire is not a cheap material, I think Apples displays are plenty durable as is.

With all fairness to Kuo, I feel like pricing, naming, marketing isn't really known outside of a small circle at Apple. I wonder how/why he speculates on this.

Because Apple shoots for a certain profit margin and so if their costs increase the price likely will too (or risk stock market reaction).

For me, across all iPhones the 4 and the X were really the best designs ever and really stood apart from their predecessors.
I would love to see a mix of the 4 and the X. Basically, the 4 with no camera bump, but with bezel-less screen of the X.

It’ll look fine Lol. They’re still beautifully designed Apple products. Doesn’t matter if they have flat/round edges.

I am impressed with what Corning and others have been able to do with glass. Sapphire probably would mean a very expensive device.

So same prices for
-5G
-128ssd starting
-redesign
-6gb Ram
-5nm A14

I think its too much for Apples standards...i think we must pick just 3 or 4 at max

I think instead of biannual they should do biennial. The tech has matured so having a new iPhone every 2 years would do much better for everyone. Also less waste overall :)
Or better yet no set schedule. Release one when development matures. Maybe that’s 12 months. Maybe it’s 18. But frankly that’s not best for business. Business says release one a couple months before Christmas every year.

Who's truly excited for 5G at this point? There seems to be massive discrepancies depending on which carrier you have. For example...

If you're on T-Mobile... it'll apparently only be about 10-20% faster than current 4G... but you'll get it in more places.

But if you're on Verizon... you'll get INSANE speeds... but only if you're standing on a street corner outside directly under one of those mmWave 5G nodes.

Neither one of those scenarios makes 5G a "must have" feature of my next iPhone... in my opinion.

I guess if it's built into all new iPhones next year it won't really matter. I just hope this news is correct and we won't have to pay extra for the privilege of having a 5G radio in it.

I would not be surprised if Apple eventually finds a way to raise the price … something like … the charger, cables, box and yet another dongle are all extra costs if you want them. 😆
Apple is the only manufacturer that didn’t raise prices in the last 3 years...

Not major price increase. In Apple logic 100$ at least...
Again. Apple didn’t raise prices in the last 3 years.

This. How can they justify asking more and more money every year? That's just criminal.
Except they didn’t ask more money in the last 3 years.

"The metal frame and the front and rear 2/2.5D glass are still used, but the metal frame surface will be changed to a similar design to the ‌iPhone‌ 4, replacing the current surface design."

In other words, from polished stainless steel to matte stainless steel. Not flat edges.
Nobody knows yet, and I expect that Apple does something interesting with the design that nobody gets right, as every year.

I do NOT agree with Kuo's prediction.

Apple NO LONGER provides iPhone Unit Sales, as we ALL know.

As such, Gross Margin is more important now than it used to be.

As such, Apple isn't going to compromise on that !

Yeah... this is why I threw my Tissot in the garbage.
$1k & has served me well and looked beautiful for over 10 years; but it doesn’t have the same edges as my phone soooooo- gross! I can’t imagine using an electronic device that doesn’t match my jewelry... whenever I wear a necklace, I make sure it looks EXACTLY like my MacBook too, I’m not gonna be one of those weirdos that can’t even have a fashion sense that isn’t 100% dictated by my gadgets!!!

I can see them keeping the same payment per month but increasing the plan to 30 months or something and saying “get some of it back with Apple Card”
