Apple is the only manufacturer that didn’t raise prices in the last 3 years...

Again. Apple didn’t raise prices in the last 3 years.
[automerge]1576092246[/automerge]

Except they didn’t ask more money in the last 3 years.
Three different quotes with the same reply and that too an incorrect one?

They raised prices in 2017 (iPhone 8, 8 plus). That was 2 years ago only.

And thats not even taking into account that they launched another tier for their flagship model for a higher price (Xs max and its successor). That would make it only one year (2019) they didnt raise the cost of owning the base config of their top model.

Considering how much the iPhone already costs, and that Qualcomm are the ones who have performed the R&D and paid for the patents and own the 5G modem designs being used, their should be NO price increase!

No major price increase because the market won't support it.

To a lot of people, a phone, is a phone, is a phone.

Market share in order to draw more customers into service based revenue streams like Apple music, and TV are the future of Apple. The phones will pretty much be "at cost" items with slight overhead built into them.

I would love to see a mix of the 4 and the X. Basically, the 4 with no camera bump, but with bezel-less screen of the X.

Based on current rumours, I feel like we might get close to that with the 2020 iPhone. Flat edge matte steel finish, reduced notch.

With all fairness to Kuo, I feel like pricing, naming, marketing isn't really known outside of a small circle at Apple. I wonder how/why he speculates on this.

Exactly. He may be able to guess what it will cost through the supply chain, but there is no way he can predict the pricing.

The iPhone 4 design is still perhaps the best to date. Anyone else agree?

I agree, it was a great design. HUGE improvement over earlier models.

I liked the 5 because of the increased speed and display size, but the anodized aluminum chassis felt inferior to the stainless 4.

I think that the stainless iPhone 11 Pro models are the best since the 4 as far as chassis is concerned. Maybe I just like stainless steel more than plastic feeling aluminum.

I think iPhones with a SS band are less prone to glass damage compared to ones made of aluminium.

I‘d be curious to hear your reasoning.

I liked stainless on the 4, and really like it on the 11 Pro, but I think that the increased mass simply increases the impact on the glass in a fall.

I can see an edge case where the phone falls on the margin of the glass/frame interface where the stainless would deform less, and potentially protect the glass. Very unlikely to happen as I imagine.

This. How can they justify asking more and more money every year? That's just criminal.
Criminal? Sure lol. Yes, it should be illegal for prices to increase. But have they?

iPhone 11 at $699 is priced the same as the unsubsidized 16GB iPhone 3G and the 32GB IPhone 3GS/iPhone 4 from 8 to 10 years ago. Considering inflation, that’s a price cut.

iPhone 8 was $699 in 2017, the year Apple introduced the super premium iPhone X. I suppose Apple could have never introduced the X/XS/11 Pro, and simply given us the XR in 2018 and the iPhone 11 this year, for that same $699, like they did for the previous 10 years.

Sure, no one would have the option of a higher-end iPhone, but at least that would have had the benefit of eliminating all the complaints of those who feel entitled to the most expensive iPhone Apple has ever built, or will ever build in future years, for $699.

You think I wouldn’t trade FaceID for no notch? Good riddance!

The notch will continue. There’s zero evidence supporting Apple will eliminate/reduce the component technology at this point for the iPhone. If anything, it might be slightly minimized. But then again, the notch is not an issue and never will be outside these forums.

I think instead of biannual they should do biennial. The tech has matured so having a new iPhone every 2 years would do much better for everyone. Also less waste overall :)
Uh. Not everybody upgrades every year or the same time. Like the this year most people weren’t upgrading from an iPhone XS. There was a lot of iPhone 7’s and 6s’s and se’s

The article said no “major” price increase. I’m sure Apple will find a way to increase.
Well Samsung wanted an extra $300 for their 5G model; I guess they won’t be able to get away with that again if Apple comes out with theirs at a 0, $50 or $100 premium.

Reminds me of the argument about cost of living and how there’s no such thing as the middle class anymore when in fact, we have a lot more we pay for now vs the 1980’s. We didn’t have cell phones or big screen TVs or all these subscription services added to our bill. People put more expensive things in front of themselves and say “why are things so expensiveeee”

Because you are absolutely right. Apple kept the same price point if not less for the iPhone 11 and simply added a more expensive pro line. It’s the same as if we always had cheap MacBook airs and then suddenly Apple added the MacBook Pro line. If it’s too expensive for someone, they need to have the maturity to say “it’s too expensive for me” and just not buy it. The amount of people buying expensive stuff on credit cards or payments is too damn high in this culture

iPhone 4 with a black bumper on it was like a monolith. I loved it. I can't go back to something quite that small now (happier with something 8-sized, or maybe the upcoming iPhone 12 Pro). But I'd love to see that same front-and-back-glass-and-bumper layout.

Right, for example, the iPhone 11/Pro is really intended probably for somebody with iPhone 7/under or even maybe an iPhone 8. When you figure how smart phones have evolved, they’ve matured to a point where they complete really all the same tasks, it just depends if somebody wants the latest technology or not.
