I love my iPhone Mini. The battery of my iPhone Mini is the best battery I've ever had. Sometimes I forget to plug it into the charger in the evening and next day I can use it a second day without troubles.

The sales of iPhone Mini were affected by the fact that the SE2 was released 7 months before. Apple can blame themselves for the lucklaster sales of the mini, nobody expected the Mini and people having waited for ages to get a smaller phone again got the SE2 in April thinking, there'd be no alternative.
That is the exact situation my wife had. Her SE (1st gen) needed a replacement and the mini came a little too late.

I went from a 11 Pro Max to a 12 Mini and it was the best decision I have made.

Not only ~$30 cheaper per month but it fits in my pocket and hand better. This is going to really suck if I have to go back to some stupidly huge brick with the 13.

I wouldn't worry too much. The current iPhone 12 mini will eventually be the SE then in 4-5 years apple will release a small phone again as they'll want upgraders.

It will be the same as the iPad mini which gets updated every 3-4 years or so.

If you're someone that updates every year it will be disappointing but if you plan to hold onto your mini for a good few years you'll be fine.

Maybe the "mini" is going away and the current mini and SE unite for just a single model that will not be called mini anymore....in 1 and a half years, many things can happen

As I said in the other thread, guess I will buy a Mini later this year.

I really dislike the notch, but it would be nice to have better cameras and a smaller phone. Battery life doesn’t matter.

I think the 5.4" iPhone 12 mini will evolve into the next iPhone SE, but will likely have a more "standard" OLED panel, a new pouch-like battery pack for longer battery life per charge, and Touch ID on an enlarged power button on the side.

Have you met one person outside of an Apple fan website that asked for a smaller iPhone ?

Smaller than iPhone X? No one
For real? There's plenty of people. Step outside.

People forget Apple's definition of "selling well" is a blockbuster hit. There was a chart couple months ago showing the percentage of Mini sales around launch and sure it wasn't a hit like the Pro series or the regular 12 but it still sold.. That's what happens when you have *options*.

I won’t lie, this hurts.

I can only think that they’ll run the mini 13 until 2023 when they upgrade the rest of the line to under display cameras. Then they’ll ‘update’ it to being an iPhone SE 3 with a hole punch camera with no Face ID and a Touch ID side button or something.
The SE line has been designed to hit a low price point. Typically, it used older designs (the 5 series, iPhone 6-8) which had large volumes to keep component and production costs low.

The Mini didn't have that. It looks like a two-year run with low volumes. If Apple has to make a Mini with no Face ID with a new screen and a Touch ID side button, it has to pay for that work somehow, and I doubt they'll hit their $399 price.

So, I doubt the Mini will be the new SE3. If you look at the combination of people wanting larger phones, along with a phone with cheaper components, and a long production run, I think the iPhone XR (which is still currently being sold, BTW) will turn into the SE 3 in Spring 2023. (an XR with modern internals like 5G, a better camera, and a fast processor)

I hope so. That would be a much more popular SE than the current one. Doubt it would happen before 2023 though until they stop production of the 12 mini.

I somewhat agree, but one part of keeping the price low was being able to resuse existing production lines by slapping newer parts into an already existing chassis. The XR is still being sold but will likely be dropped once the iPhone 13 hits so keeping the production line alive until 2023 doesn't make sense. It could very well align with the end of the iPhone 12 mini production though.

If I was upgrading last year the mini would have suited me fine (screen size-wise and the screen covering almost the entire front of the phone) but I felt a bit put off about it‘s camera even though I’m not even a hobby photographer, it’s just nice to get a good camera upgrade when I buy a new phone.
Maybe if they would have offered an “iPhone 12 Pro Mini” I’d have gone for if, at least if it was cheaper than the regular iPhone 12 Pro.

Myself personally would have been satisfied as long as the photos taken by the camera would have looked as good when looked at on an iPhone as the ones taken by an iPhone 12 Pro so maybe I don’t know what I’m talking about here but I’m also very interested in the features connected to the AR and specifically scanning the dimensions of stuff / spaces etc and I believe that’s where the 12 Pro actually was the winner.
Anyway sad to see it go but I guess it’s maybe replaced by the SE.
Well I’d anything good can come out or it I’m hoping to see better naming scheme from Apple than Max, Mini, SE. It’s as if they forgot to change the names from the project names... at least according to me. The Pro is fine though even if I expected more from Apple.

I dropped my X and broke the screen. While it was sent for repair, I ordered a Mini and decided to give it a try within the 14 day return period. My X came back from repair in a few days and I had a chance to try them side by side. I tested for web browsing, launching Apps for the first time (ie. not in cache), sending and receiving email etc. The difference in perceivable speed is really nothing to write home about it. On the other hand the camera of the Mini is significantly better than X's camera. But by the time I put the Mini in its clear protective case, it became less of a mini and the size advantage took a bit of a hit.

I returned Mini before the 14 day return period and decided to live with my X for a bit longer.

I'm a big fan of smaller phones by the way and I was really looking forward to embrace the Mini. I can somehow understand Apple's decision to axe it and the reason behind the lacklustre sales.

So MR posts are made by bots?
I believe the suggestion is that MR users make up a rounding error in regards to the number of iphone buyers, so if the are mostly who wants a device, it will not sell in volume and will end up canceled.

The fact of the matter is there just isn’t much demand for a mini form factor outside the loud minority voices on Apple blogs.

Counterpoint: The Mini is the 8th best selling smartphone out of every smartphone available on the market. It’s only unsuccessful when compared to the other smartphones that Apple makes.

Apple makes or has made several low-volume products in order to target a certain customer. It’s just a matter of whether Apple wants to continue making it to meet the desires of the vocal minority.

Plenty of people lmao ? Where?

Apple almost immediately slowed production after launch.

lol plenty of people

And I'm currently typing this on my 12 mini

I've used a large iPhone 10 XR for work and for what I do it's just uncomfortable. And I have big hands.

Apple blew the Mini, too expensive, poor battery life and the sales performance showed.

If this comes to pass that the Mini doesn't continue I won't be surprised.

You can tell by the comments that some people are very passionate about the mini:)

I can understand however why Apple would cancel it, people vote with their money. If a product isn't selling - it's not an attractive enough product. The iPhone 12 fits perfectly in normal pockets, I feel like most people with a mini would be fine with the normal 12 as well - which is probably what Apple is banking on if they cancel the mini.

"smaller-sized iPhone with a modern design" ...No. 5.4inch is larger than iphone 8 form which was even larger than iphone 5. 4.7 should be the max size of a smaller phone. No body asked for this hence it failed.
