Oh I was really hoping for “blink to tap” functionality with the next one. Shucks!
Well and the 10th anniversary of the iPhone, which produced the radical iPhone XAside from the 20th Anniversary Mac (26 years ago), Apple doesn't care about anniversaries.
I think the only reason we got the Ultra 2 is because the S9 is such a big jump over the S6/7/8. If the S9 can get the new features of the 10 without new hardware, Apple could conceivably offer those upgrades in WatchOS 11 for the Ultra 2 and not release an Ultra 3 until 2025.Kuo is getting bored. There will definitely be a new Ultra every year there will be a regular Apple Watch, even if the only change will be a new processor. There is no way Apple can sell an Ultra with a worst processor than the regular watch.
I think you mean previous generation SOC. My Series 5 still keeps up with my 8 pretty well, it can't do certain features is all. The only reason I'm keep my Series 5, it's pointless to part with it for less than $60, might as well have a workout watch and keep the 8 as the nicer one. There is no way Apple can sell an Ultra with a worst processor than the regular watch.
Says the guy who predicted no MacBooks this year. 🙄
It's annoying when all you want is to take a quick pic just to document whatever you're doing. I have a cycling computer too and don't really need to carry a phone for anything other than pics since my ultra has mobile data and apple pay etc.Why does having a camera make it viable to not carry your phone.
I have non-cell Apple Watch and I don't carry my phone when I run. For cycling I use my phone as my bike computer and for hiking it doesn't matter, as 90% of the places I hike have zero cell service. My garmin in-reach connects to my phone so I keep it around for that.
My thoughts exactly. I'm sure there was a lot of doubt early this year on if the Ultra would get an annual upgrade, but it did. There will definitely be a new Ultra every year there will be a regular Apple Watch, even if the only change will be a new processor. There is no way Apple can sell an Ultra with a worst processor than the regular watch.
It wasn't a pointless upgrade for people waiting for an Ultra 2 and who were content with a Series 4/5/6.Ultra 2 was pretty much a pointless upgrade. Will be happy with my Ultra 1 for another couple years at least unless some major features come sooner.
An Apple Watch covered in diamonds would not look attractive…Apple should try enter the high-end watch market instead.
You got crazy people who spend $50k on a Rolex which tells only the time, while it is less accurate than a digital watch and needs regular maintenance.
I don’t have the data, but I won’t be surprised Apple is the fastest growing watch maker in the world right now.
Would be interesting for Apple to make a $20k Watch of the highest end materials to compete against Rolex.
Those were mainly to get folks all over social media and regular TV talking about them. Folks that would, quite likely, not even know that Apple was shipping a watch product. Some of those very likely turned into a sale or, at worst, someone telling someone else about the crazy thing that they felt had no value, which is the goal of advertising. Seeing as how they very quickly became the number 1 watch maker in the world, however much R&D went into the manufacture and sale of those were well worth it. They didn’t take a hit, they likely considered it a bargain!Apple is still a tech company & probably took a hit with those 1st gen. gold editions pretty quick considering obsolete technology.
Because there are billions of folks that don’t currently own an Apple Watch. And for those folks, they may prefer buying something new rather than something a year old.Why release either watch next year? They have no new features ready yet. Skip a year and release the series 10 the following year with microoled too. Next year they can focus on vision pro
they're just not really advancing it, hell they even shoved the same processor in it for years... I'd be just as happy with a 7 as I am with my 9. no noticeable difference there even with the new processor.. not every piece of tech needs a yearly update...Because there are billions of folks that don’t currently own an Apple Watch. And for those folks, they may prefer buying something new rather than something a year old.
Regular maintenance? You obviously don’t know what you’re talking about so stop.![]()
Apple Watch speculation; 10 years on from the first predictions
It's 10 years since Jeweller first examined the possibility of Apple entering the watch market. While CEO Tim Cook launched the Apple Watch in April 2015, there had been speculation about the product many years before.www.jewellermagazine.com
Apple doesn't expect people to upgrade every year, Ultra 2 might be good upgrade for people upgrading with 4 years old watch.Ultra 2 was pretty much a pointless upgrade. Will be happy with my Ultra 1 for another couple years at least unless some major features come sooner.
How do you like the U2 coming from an S7? That’s my current main model (I also have an S4, S3, S1). The S4 is still quite fast, and the battery life has shortened. I don’t use the S1, and the S3 feels so slow that I just put it away. I’ve been thinking about grabbing an Ultra 1 or 2. Just afraid it will feel gigantic and maybe uncomfortable. I also don’t love any of the bands. They look complicated. Though I think the Trailb bands (the ones with the hook?) are my favorites.Just upgraded from my S7 to an Ultra 2 last week (having previously updated every 2 years from an S3 to S5 to S7), so no Ultra 3 will be great for me as it will fit with my upgrade cycle and mean i have the newest for longer too![]()
They could pull a standard/pro chip differentiation, or just focus on additional features that aren't chip dependent.Kuo is getting bored. There will definitely be a new Ultra every year there will be a regular Apple Watch, even if the only change will be a new processor. There is no way Apple can sell an Ultra with a worst processor than the regular watch.
Never gonna happen, cause a Rolex or other "real" mechanical watches still work in 30 years. Smartwatches are just electronic waste in 30 years that's the difference. Apple already had their ceramic and gold editions and they are a bunch of well.. ceramic and gold now... useless, don't even get updates anymore. It's a completely different kind of market. Btw the gold edition was around 15k I think.Apple should try enter the high-end watch market instead.
