If after all this you think there won't be M3 then I don't know what to say. All clues point to M3 right now. Even the video Apple just posted by mistake and then quickly changed to the iPhone one.

Its happening.

P.s.: Don't delete your account - just learn that things can change and will in the future. Its the best course of action. ;-)

Still don't think there will be an M3. If there is then Apple were very silly to release a 15-inch MacBook Air with an M2 a mere months ago. I wouldn't be surprised to see the 13" MacBook Pro get it first, the base processor, then the Airs to follow, but still the M3 Pro and Max won't be until next year. I'll delete my account if there is any sign of a M3 Pro/Max MacBook Pro on Monday.

It’s ok i’m only deleting if its M3 Pro/Max which it won’t be so i’m safe 😂

Hahahaha, I have a feeling that you will be so disappointed.

It wouldn't make sense. The 14"/16" MBP came out in Jan, they're not even 10 months old. The top end MacBook Pros should be on a refresh cycle faster than an iPhone!

There's no M3 currently, the upgrade cycle is always standard chip, then months later Pro/Max then months later Ultra.

The only thing i'm surprised about is the M3 base chip coming in 2023 - IF it means upgrading the 15-inch MacBook Air (which it might not...I honestly wouldn't be surprised to see Apple sell a 13" MBA with an M3 and a 15" MBA with an M2, their line up under Cook is already a mess at times anyway)

Almost certainly that leaked picture is the 13-inch MBP. That's from June 2022 and the iMac even older - perhaps it's those two getting the first M3 chips and it's been brought forward to get a little pre-Christmas bump as last Christmas was abysmal for Macs and this year hasn't been fantastic.

How would you explain the inability to order 14&16 MBP now with any changes. All stores are 3 weeks away. Same for the iMac. Everything else is normal.

Also, just because it was done twice certain way doesn't mean it can't be different this time.
As others mentioned, M2 was delayed so the January release was apparently scheduled for Oct. so this would all align perfectly.

We are getting M3 Pro and M3 Max most likely. Everything is pointing towards it - you need to be flexible and don't be stuck on the way it was. Nothing is certain of course but everything is pointing towards Pro and Max.

Everything, and I mean everything, screams M3 Pro/Max. Nothing prevents Apple from releasing multiple updates to the same machine in the same year. They have done this plenty of times in the past. A lot of signs point to M2 Pro/Max originally intended to be released in Oct 2022. They fell behind schedule and came out in Jan. We are one year after the original intended release date now. You can stick your head in the sand and keep saying no M3 Pro/Max but you will very likely be eating your words on Monday.

Please don't delete your account. All rumours were right (again) but the good thing is that we now have M3 family.

I hold my hands up, they bucked everything with this - including the release order, the prices (the ram sizes!?), the time of the event and the length of the event 😂

I can't say i'm not surprised, I imagine there will be a lot of annoyed M2 Max owners too, that's such a short time for a £4000+ system to be top of the range.

I suppose some collateral damage for having the release order of the chips in a better way is probably good for Apple though. It makes sense for the Airs to have the base processor that is one generation prior. I guess they'll get the M3 when the 15-inch MBA is 1 year old next summer - probably when they upgrade the Mac Studio/Pro to M3 Ultra just as it's over 1 year old too.

Its always like this, there is never a good time to update as you will always upset someone.

Good thing is that the rumours were correct. iMac skipped M2 as expected and rumoured,
lack of supply in Apple showed us that it all aligned with the update, also the display update was correct. All they need to do now is update the rest of the lineup fairly quickly so they can keep the products on 'annual' updates and the products are more together. That itself would be perfect

October macs, spring ipads, wwdc software, september iphones.

Regardless, those who have M2 MBPs should be fine as the jump is very small.

Thats just how tech works, I remember the times when GPUs were updated every 6 months so you were almost never on the latest for long :)
