While this is just me, if I was spending well over $1000 for a mobile phone, a shock-proof case would be a requirement too. And since those cases can come in pretty much any color, it's hard to grasp the hangups about the "naked" color choices... except for those willing to take the risk of naked phone meeting pavement at some point for that exclusive & unique shattered glass pattern personalization (art?).

I choose to NOT even spend $800 for a phone, instead using cellular iPad Mini 6 to also cover phone and texting needs (Voip app with buds)... but even it is wrapped in a shockproof case, netting me a mocha brown iPad Mini 6 (which is not a color option from Apple). What color is it naked? I don't even recall for sure. It could be the most-coveted pee green model with pink polkadots and orange stripes. ;) The case color is the one remembered.

But again, that's just me. I know there are people who will put >$1000 purchase at great risk in a single fall scenario. It's only money. A few unfortunate slips and one could "collect them all" over the next year! 🎉
Sure there are folks like you who think the latest iPhones remain as fragile as v1. But y'all are wrong. Modern iPhone Pros are very durable.

Sure it is possible to trash an uncased iPhone Pro, but it is quite hard to do so. I consider cases silly, use my uncased iPhone Pros hard and all the damage I have seen is a tiny ding or two where a phone did a serious drop on to rough concrete. Certainly no cracked displays for years.

YMMV, enjoy your case-compromised devices.

I assume you are joking.
0- I don't see where the change is. I guess I need to redefine the defention of "change"!
1- Titanium feels amazing? Can you quantify how you can feel the amazingness of titanium?
2- The stainless steel is never outdated. Get your facts checked before posting. Rolex, Omega, Cartier and major luxury watch brands make watches out of SS.
3- Lighter? First of all it's impossible for human to tell the difference in weight of these two items (blindly). Second, it doesn't matter! the difference is 5 grams. It's not like 50 kg.

Titanium is not as tough as Stainless Steel in absorbing impacts before fracturing.
Titanium becomes fragile in lower tempratures, e.g. it's not as good as SS in mounteneering.

Overall titanium is just a marketing gimmick to fool customers.

I don't see a single reason apple charging an astronomical price for few grams of titanium.
That was a silly rant. The ss used is by definition an alloy and titanium used is also an alloy. Arbitrary statements about ss and titanium as if it each was only one thing are flat wrong. E.g. one could have a friable ss alloy and one could have a ductile titanium alloy.

So we need to wait and see the actual metal alloys used before making (hypothetical) rants dissing said unknown alloys. You are right of course about Apple's usage of the term Titanium in marketing.

I don’t wear basketball shorts no, but I do wear shorts that tie up and just don’t have the issue you describe.

I have an iPad for that, I don’t feel a bedroom environment is a good one to be looking at a phone screen.

I mean, I do it for a few minutes, before I put my phone on its night stand, but it is just a few minutes and then I grab my iPad/book/whatever.

While it's not good for you to look at your phone before bed, many still do. I'm curious though what the difference is for you between an ipad and phone? they're both screens that you are using before bed that you shouldn't.

i'm jealous that your shorts never start to fall down!

Great arguments. However battery (life) is great argument as well.

Let's settle this down by saying that it would be best to bring another line of iPhones, called iPhone Lite with smaller battery, but also smaller weight as well.

Disclaimer: this is just a joke.

one more thing.

the iphone is now lighter and we've shaved 2mm off the battery making strides to our sustainability policies by saving precious earth metals - and folks, we've done this by only increasing the price by $499 from the standard iphone for a 32gb of fast storage.

And you're now hired. Welcome to the Apple!

I like how people say "we" when talking about their winning local sports team. And how it becomes "they" when it's "a rebuilding season". Right?

Oh, by the way...your tongue has a slightly blue hue on my screen? Do you really have a blue tongue, or do I need to adjust my screen colors? 👅
Why don’t you turn orientation lock on?
In bed? I'm too lazy to be bothered when I'm there. Hehe! 🥱

To those people that mention about how heavy they feel their iPhone is, does weight matter in the real world?

I mean, when out and about I put my 14PM in my front pocket of water jeans/shorts I’m wearing.

In my car, it sits on a MagSafe mount, so I don’t genuinely don't get why people mention it’s weight.

Presumably, when people are working at home/at a desk, the phone is on the desk or a desk mount too?

I just don’t get it. 🤷‍♂
That is usually code for some people looking for a weak reason to make a heavy financial purchase.

New design, Titanium case, USBC, A17 3nm, periscope camera, improved LIDAR, upgraded 5G, WiFi 6E, 2 TB option, Action button, lighter, longer battery life

I’m in
My main reasons for upgrading are the larger display and better battery life (vs my 13 Pro non Max). But the dark blue, titanium build, USB-C, A17, always on display, dynamic island, Action button are all going to make to make it feel like a new experience. As a former Plus iPhone user from the 6 Plus -> 7 Plus, I'm excited to once again get a large screen device.

A day after Apple announced it will be holding an event on September 12, analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has shared more predictions for the iPhone 15 lineup.

iPhone-15-Pro-Colors-Mock-Feature.jpg

The higher-end iPhone 15 Pro models are widely expected to be equipped with a titanium frame instead of a stainless steel frame, and Kuo said this change should contribute to the devices weighing less than iPhone 14 Pro models. Kuo said production issues related to the titanium frame, display panels, batteries, and a new stacked camera sensor for the lower-end iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus have all been resolved.

Kuo corroborated previously-rumored color options for the Pro models, including gray, silver/white, black, and blue. Notably, this means the highest-end iPhones would not be available in gold for the first time since the iPhone X. He said the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus will be available in black, pink, yellow, blue, and green.

Kuo also reiterated that the iPhone 15 Pro Max was the last new model to enter mass production, so this device may have the tightest supply at launch.

All four iPhone 15 models are expected to be equipped with a USB-C port and the Dynamic Island, while several other new features are rumored for the Pro models, including a faster A17 Bionic chip, a customizable Action button, Wi-Fi 6E support, and more. The devices should be available to pre-order a few days after Apple's event on September 12.

Gone are the days apple used to sell its products because they were astronomical

Your attempt at defining "rant" is as marvelous as your definitions of "change," "weight," and "feels amazing" – which is to say, utterly enchanting in their vagueness and ambiguity. But alas, no cigars for you

I currently have an iPhone 12 Pro Max in the blue. It looks exactly like the blue in that photo. So, seems like nothing really new?
