Apple is still on track to begin mass production of the upcoming redesigned 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro with mini-LED displays in the third quarter of this year, Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo said today in a note obtained by MacRumors.

Several reports have pinned the third quarter of the year as a timeframe for when Apple could release the new MacBook Pros. DigiTimes had previously pinned the late portion of the quarter as a launch timeframe, likely referencing a September launch alongside the new iPhones.

Although, while mass production may begin in the third quarter, according to Kuo, which runs from July to September, Apple may decide to hold a separate event for the Mac in October or November, rather than tying the new MacBook Pros with the release of new iPhone and Apple Watch models.

Additionally, due to continued shortages and struggles with the production of mini-LED displays, Apple may announce the new MacBook Pros but not yet begin shipments until weeks later, similar to what it did for the mini-LED iPad Pro in April. Kuo has previously reported that the new MacBook Pros will feature additional ports, including HDMI and an SD-card slot, the removal of the Touch Bar, and an overall updated design with flat-edges and MagSafe.

How come Apple didn't attempt to muzzle MCK, and if they did, how come he's still talking?
He’s an Analyst. Not a leaker.

I’m sure he owns plenty of Apple stocks. Apple is feeding him with this information so people don’t get too excited for windows 11 or buy chrome books for back to school event.

Keep in mind Kuo is not a leaker. He's a supply chain analyst who talks with the people who are manufacturing Apple products. He can't really predict release dates like leakers can, but he can see what's being manufactured and when and can then figure out a rough estimate of when things come out. Notice he didn't predict a release date. He only said that they were mass producing in the 3'rd quarter.

What I found curious is that after these rumors have been circling for what seems to be few years now, my special “MacBook Pro 14” saving account is stuck at around 30%.

Now I see that this all is related. It must be.

If you share this feeling - pm me for my Paypal. I am sure, once we get to 100% (just a few k € left to go) - Apple will anounce and release the beasts.

This is the last push that separates us all from the new toys.

Let’s stay together on this and show our dedication.

*Promise not to spend a cent from this so important for us all fund for family and kids🤝☺️

p.s. Sorry for getting us all into this painful loop… If only I would knew…

I’ve got family that’s expecting these machines in September because of the rumors. Seeing that production’s ramping up in Q3, I don’t know how Apple could push it out so fast. I think people are better off not planning around a close release.

I swear, when this rev gets released people are gonna be disappointed. It’s almost like it’s the second coming of Christ. It can’t be that different from its predecessors. Retina, Unibody all look the same except for years of continued refinement. Apples mistake is, they should have at least released an entry level 15 inch model of the M1 MacBook Pro but keep it below 1,800 and include 16 GBs by default.

Exactly. How do we know Apple is not leaking him info? That said, he seems to get pretty regular info from his own sources.

This is lining up just as we thought— October event or announced as “one more thing” with iPhones in Sept.

Bingo! That's exactly what is going to happen.

September, October, November ... it's all good to me. It just needs to get released no later as people are waiting and have limited options if they want the new Apple silicon. I am personally looking forward to these devices more so than anything Apple has released in many years.

So they’re gonna start shipping in November or early December a la previous high end Mac intros.

And given the mini LED technology and price preminum it commands on iPad, the new MacBook Pros will likely have their ‘pro’-level reinforced (price-wise, at least).

That will in turn make the MacBook Air the Mac notebook for the masses, with the upcoming MacBook Air redesign in colours underlining this notion. (Would love for the ‘plain’ MacBook to make a comeback, though!)
