I swear, when this rev gets released people are gonna be disappointed. It’s almost like it’s the second coming of Christ. It can’t be that different from its predecessors. Retina, Unibody all look the same except for years of continued refinement.

It'll be the larger form factor, Apple Silicon MBP. I won't be disappointed. I need a new machine badly, and I'm doing everything I can to get the one I have to limp along until these are released. It can look exactly the same for all I care.

Apples mistake is, they should have at least released an entry level 15 inch model of the M1 MacBook Pro but keep it below 1,800 and include 16 GBs by default.
Such response will only happen for folks who visit macrumors or folks involved in covering Apple non stop , they are waiting for those machines and are getting the “it’s next month release” syndrome for the last 4 months or so , the normal population has no idea about release dates , when Apple announces them , assuming they will be great machines , they will get much love and sell really well.

I feel like a September launch is very unlikely. It makes more sense to release the new MBPs after the official release of Monterey (Oct/Nov).

Definitely.
As others have mentioned,September is usually iPhone release time. Mac is good revenue, could be 35 billion TTM. But IPhone is Apple’s mountain at around TTM above 200 billion. iPhone release is a BFD.

I’m hoping a Pro or upper tier Mac mini gets released at the same time, maybe a full pro event MacBook, Macmini and iMac Pro perhaps.

I should’ve got the Macmini when it first but now I’m too scared to!
Yes, I'd expect MacBook Pro, Mac mini and maybe iMac, all using the same chip. That fleshes out the range and removes Intel chips. I'd expect them to have a third chip in the works for the Mac Pro (since otherwise the high end Mini would take its market) - more cores, more connectivity, more memory, maybe external GPU. If the energy profile worked, it would make sense if that also made it into a top-end laptop or all-in-one. The alternative would be to drop the top-end Mini and brand the new desktop as a Mac Pro.

I might also be in the market for the top-end mini. The M1 mini is a good device (but buy the 16GB if you have heavy workloads - the 8GB can swap under load). If you need the machine now for work and have the budget, I'd buy the M1 mini (and sell it on later perhaps once the new device is available). If you can wait to the end of the year, then the new device should be faster and maybe have more memory options. One thing to be aware of with the Mini is that some people report problems with the HDMI port. A colleague found that a high quality cable solved this, but there could be a hardware or software driver issue that Apple need to fix. The USB-C video output seems to work perfectly.

If you don't have a laptop or have an old laptop, then it's also worth considering buying the MBA for the short term rather than a Mini (and eg use it in clamshell mode with a monitor). The MBA is more heavily discounted, so the margin between it and the Mini is relatively slim at the moment, and you are gaining portability and a second small display. Again, buy the 16GB for heavy duty. I have one and it is very good (biggest performance jump I have made in a long time, and it is completely silent!!).

To be honest I don't think these will be worth it, if they have the same M1 chip as an iPad.. Apple needs to start putting something a bit more meaty into its personal computers. Especially the 'Pro' lineup towards the end of 2021 because not everyone only uses Final Cut Pro.

Apple is still on track to begin mass production of the upcoming redesigned 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro with mini-LED displays in the third quarter of this year, Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo said today in a note obtained by MacRumors.
Did I miss something, currently there is no 14" MBP. 🤔

Should be:
Apple is still on track to begin mass production of the upcoming redesigned 16-Inch and the new to be released 14-Inch MBP.

2 years without a 16inch piece of kit along with a brand new 14inch size means the demand is going to be sizzling.
I'm guessing if you don't get in when orders first open you're looking at late December, early January delivery. Let's hope those fast on the draw can have them in their mitts come mid November.

Don’t think that has happened. October/November makes way more sense.
This isn't a "normal" year. We're in mid Intel-to-Apple Silicon transition, mid-pandemic and mid-global-component-shortage/shipping crisis etc. Lots of best-made plans will be ganging agly.

So, frankly, it's anybody's guess - especially as any launch in the next 6 months is likely to be a "virtual" event and can happen at short-ish notice. It may make sense for Apple to launch the M1X/M2/whatever machines as and when they are ready to ship, without regards to the normal release cycle.
