I'm still highly skeptical about the rumors these will get lossless support. It's impossible over Bluetooth. Apple would either need to use or invent a different technology.
True. Which makes me wonder exactly what they have up their sleeve. It’s all but confirmed that they are working on an alternative wireless protocol.

AirPods Studio rumored for early 2023 with A14 Bionic

AP3's are currently my favorite out of the entire lineup. APpro's are my least favorite out of the group. They are just terrible. I am a big fan of the AP 01/02/03 design of place them in and go. Not fidgeting around trying to place them in a comfortable position and constantly moving them around. Hopefully, it will be a more pleasant experience.

Has there been any research on whether the U1 version of Apple’s UWB chip is actually capable of data transfer? Apart from UWB’s range finding capability, supposedly it has the potential for lower power, lower latency, higher bandwidth data transfer than Bluetooth LE.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: upgrade the AirPods 2 design. The AirPods 3 fall out of my ears. I can’t be the only one, and the frequent sales plus this cut in orders backs that up.
Exactly! First Apple purchase I ever returned secondary to ergonomics. Both fell out within an hour of first use, compared with zero times falling out with five years with my first gens.

Wishful thinking, but I’m hoping the body is reduced in size. Currently, the Pros are too large for my ears and cause discomfort after 10 minutes.

I understand the AirPods 2 still sell well. For the average consumer, the difference between AirPods 2 and 3 is close to nothing, but the price difference is significant. And they definitely won’t care that AirPods 3 comes with a USB-C cable instead of a USB-A cable, or that the AirPods 3 case has wireless charging.
Difference for me was fit. AP1s fit perfectly for years, AP3s fell out of both ears within an hour. Returned for AP2s. Just wish they had updated the AP2 internals instead of an ergonomic redesign.

I've had my AirPods 2 since they were released, and they show no signs of slowing down yet. Talk time isn't that great, but for listening to music - which is my primary use for them - they still get great battery life.

I've intentionally held off on buying the Pro version because they're getting ready to release a new version, and because the second-gen AirPods are still working great.

These can’t come soon enough. My Pros can’t make phone calls anymore. Anyone else? Music and video works just fine.

Are the airpod pros capable of being used as mic source for zoom meetings yet?

All the people I hear on meetings with airpods sounds pretty bad.
compared to what? I regularly am on zoom with people using AirPods and they sound fine. Not sure if they are using regular or pros. In general, AirPods have better microphones than the ones in laptops but maybe not as good as dedicated webcams or stand alone microphones. It's usually a question of size and placement.

I use the Airpods 3 a lot and I like them, but they are in a weird no-man's land of price and features.

DO NOT REDESIGN them, they are perfect as they are.
Seriously. If they were able to improve the chip design to use less power, keep the stem and increase the battery life (I know the battery was moved from the stem in the Pros, but still). I also like the stem click. I don't know how the Beats work for that.
I'm just hoping my Pros last until then. My first gen AirPods went through a tragic accident about a month before the Pros came out. Going back to wired earpods was annoying...

Return them and wait. Seriously.

I've had my AirPods Pro replaced under the service program once already, and with the "clicking" sound returning while on calls, they sound like they're due again. I've talked to other people who have already gone through four replacements. Since AirPods are notorious for not being "repairable," I don't think they are using refurb hardware replacements, but simply have never figured out how to permanently fix this design.

Given the unsolved ANC degradation problems, I'd never advise anyone to buy this generation of AirPods Pro at this point. I'd wait for and proceed cautiously to AirPods Pro 2 instead.
I kept looking at these , even had them sitting in my basket , kept getting nagging notifications weeks later but still did not succumb despite offers and deals . Your post is one of many I have read across numerous forums about these problems which quite frankly are off putting given the price point .

I‘ll wait it out and see what the upgraded models offer but not just on features , will be interesting to see what issues arise over the first few months and I’ll revisit my decision then .

Can we please get AirPods Pro in new colors? They will sell like hot cakes.
They would. The problem of course is, some colors will sell better than others, and you can't know ahead of time, for certain, which will be the big sellers. So you'll have excess inventory of some colors and shortages of other colors (and maybe that problem with differing colors in different regions). Yes, they deal with all of this in the iPhone space, but they can't really back away from offering those now. Plus, of course, pandemic-induced shortages of everything.

But, yeah, I'd like to see colors too.

I mean, Beats seems to handle that pretty well. And AirPods Max for that matter.

Although I would *love* to see more colorways for AirPods, I have a feeling Apple will continue to stick with the white aesthetic they've been pushing for 21 years. but yeah, if they made AirPods Pro in black (or pink/rose gold), I'm in on day one.

I mean, who am I kidding, I'm in day one regardless. I've bought so many AirPods over the years for myself and my family/friends (probably 15 pairs since 2016), this is an instant-buy.

I do think they made a mistake with the AirPods 3 with the design/price because they are too expensive to be something the average or newer AirPod user would want to buy (especially since AirPods 2 are often discounted to $99) and because AirPods Pro often sell for $200 (that's what Best Buy has them for right now), people who want the other specs are more likely to spend the extra $20 or $30 to upgrade, putting AirPods 3 in sort of a no-man's land.

To me, they should have permanently discounted the AirPods 2 to $99 and priced the AirPods 3 at $150 OR just phased out AirPods 2 and priced AirPods 3 at $150. There is no way they should continue to sell the Pros alongside Pro 2s.

Had to sell mine :( but using wired headphones with lightning adaptor has the advantage of not having something else to charge up. Perhaps using a wireless charging pad you forget about that anyway. Here’s to a prosperous year for all!
