Well here’s my list, I see
@0989382 already made a pretty good dent in it. Maybe I’ve forgotten something, not sure:
4GB RAM (increased from 3GB),
better camera with a new sensor, new image signal processor, various improved picture and video modes,
better display, improved sound, IP68 water resistance (vs. IP67),
dual SIM capability,
faster FaceID,
faster wireless charging,
up to 15% faster CPU, up to 50% faster GPU and the machine learning neural engine co-processor goes from 2-core/600 billion operations per second to an amazing 8-core/5 trillion ops/sec—over 7x faster.
Also:
stronger glass,
better battery life, stereo video recording via four microphones, more frequency bands, including T-Mobile's 600 MHz LTE Band 71, and a faster “gigabit class” cellular radio. (In tests on US cellular carriers, the average download speeds more than doubled and upload speeds increased by 50%.)
Some will upgrade just for the gold color lol, and a 512GB SKU is now available as well, for those who need half a terabyte of storage on their phone. For those who miss the Plus size, for only an extra $100(!) they can get the XS Max.
Almost no aspect of the X feature set was left untouched; it’s really quite amazing. It was the best iPhone Apple ever built, until the iPhone 11 is introduced tomorrow.
Thank you for the list.
First, some independent testing actually has the iPhone X beat the XS on battery life. So at best, we can say it is only the same.
I have highlighted the changes from green to red as to what is important for me and what is not, this is wholly subjective and everyone will have different opinions/needs, but I can't be alone in terms of this. I mean who really cares about a machine learning neural engine and to date I seldom see anyone who can take advantage of more RAM or CPU or GPU power from what they use their phone for. Many of the changes improve the use for a very small niche of the market in my opinion.
I did like the faster FaceID however and who can say no to a better camera (although I don't think it was a huge improvement and a lot of the software processing was underwhelming with many complaints post launch). IP68 can't hurt either.
To be honest, on the XS launch, I was more impressed by the iOS updates (which weren't amazing but still better than the XS imo).
What would have impressed me then for XS?
- Maybe a notch-less design (like some of the Android competitors) or something similar to punch hole or I don't know, anything than the current.
- An actual battery life improvement, maybe one of my most favored one to be honest
- A faster charger out the box, Android are killing it on this front
- USB-C
- Touch ID under screen option
- Two way charging (to charge wireless earphone cases)
- Probably forgetting some obvious stuff that Android competitors have managed
Today, I am not expecting the iPhone 11 to really improve much upon the XS in the list I've conjured which is a shame. So really all I have to look forward to today is how the new iOS is shaping up. Going forward, I think I would like iOS to become more feature rich
Maybe 2020 is the year I upgrade, if I am still with iOS that is...
