I don't particularly like the naming scheme since the Plus was introduced, but I'm not going to pretend it's a genuine problem in life.. #dramaqueen

The S10+ is noticeably stuttery to the iPhone XR even throughout it's interface... there are numerous reasons why
I am only expecting improvements and not big innovation, after all what can you expect from a small device? Today is the day when we see what will be announced.

What did you expect? I mean look at last year. X to Xs was also pretty lame. The biggest feature was probably the larger 6.5" screen on the Max. If you compare the X to the Xs, they're almost identical. I would NEVER go from a X to a Xs. (Unless i would be super rich or i would get the phone completely for free.) Wouldn't pay for that lame upgrade. I just hope that 2020 will be better. USB-C, 5G etc...

Apple though seem to have taken someone else’s idea that is from a small company and utterly ripped it off! No doubt paying off the patent office so they can sue the originator.
Because this is the ONLY possible new thing they can label as ‘innovative’, which they will announce according to rumours and leaks, and it’s not innovative in the slightest when it’s ripping off someone else’s idea.
Not sure about the rest of your post, but in what way will the XS/XS Max/XR be worthy upgrades after tomorrow? They’ll all be superseded by newer, better models at exactly the same price
Because the new phones for this year are incredibly mild updates, an extra camera lens, pointless speed improvements you won’t notice. Buy last years models and save money! Kuo states the designs will be unchanged even.
Haha, yeah but Apple will be pushing for you to use it’s fancy card for all those Apple gadget purchases..

Pretty good guess that for you everything that happens has to have a clear purpose. The thought that **** just happens would make the world too frightening a place.

Your points continue to get worse as the discussion goes on, to my surprise..
I have been called an Apple apologist many times, yet I am left pondering what Apple is doing when it comes to wireless charging. I have a XR, so I am not waiting to buy something this year, but I would love to see Apple figure it out and allow bi-lateral charging on its devices. At least with the 2018 iPad Pro Being able to charge a device via the USB-C interface is nice, even allowing for “cables”, which everyone seems to be allergic to in these forums. This seems to be one area where Apple lacks engineers after the failure of the AirPower mat. That being said, the lack of it would not be a deal breaker for most. Bi-lateral charging looks cool in a 30 second Samsung ad, but that’s not real life, so there is that caveat.

It's interesting that around the time when Apple started its annual upgrade program is also when its annual upgrades became increasingly weak. Classic bait and switch, or just coincidence?
Anyway yes the 11 is probably a good upgrade for anyone with a 3-5 year old phone, and probably not worth considering for anyone with a newer phone.

Because the Qi standard is so successful Apple sees no opportunity for lock in so is half-hearted about the whole thing. They briefly got interested when they thought AirPower could take off, but the engineering problems and availability of far cheaper options killed that.
Now wireless charging only serves the customer rather than Apple shareholders, which Tim isn't so interested in.
Which upgrades were weak let’s take a look:
- 5s, 6,6s,7, 8,x,Xs all strong updates
Three to five years is a good amount of time for an upgrade. Maybe more so for android.
IMO, on #1, it was done to either make money on selling the fast charger or entice customers to get the XS. On #2, upgrading memory is a big money maker and knowing you can easily use up 64GB. I recognize pricing is all done to encourage making upgrades, whether by choosing phones or memory upgrades so when all is said and done, you are looking at a hefty cost at the end. It’s all about how Apple can maximize sales and revenue.
Good point and something I never thought about. That is honestly the biggest hassle when traveling, that damn apple watch charger. It sounds silly, but I hate bringing it haha.
Don't think they intend to try and entice X users. Seems Apple are now working on the assumption of people (not on the upgrade programme) upgrading every 3rd year - this is a good upgrade from a 7 or 7 plus, maybe 8 or 8 plus too. From a X, XS, XR or XS Max there's very little of note to justify an upgrade.
I think it's because I have enough Lightning cables to tie together and abseil down Mount Everest, due to the amount of things which come with them - phones, iPads, mice, keyboards, AirPods etc. - but only one Watch cable, so it always seems to be a bigger faff.
Lol, you haven’t even SEEN what they came up with, if anything. Seems like you know it all.
I bought the 6s, 7, xr and max based on my comments about the phones. YMMV.
