Did not take a break during the holidays? Incredible! Working for 2 weeks without sleep is dangerous.
Those that took a two week vacation most likely went back to their hometown and if their hometown is not a few minutes away from the factory they are not coming back as people are not allowed to leave their homes except for 1 family member or household resident once every two days. Next, people can not cross borders between cities. Next, there is no metro,no trains and public transport available for the most part.
If employees can’t come to work factories can not run. If factories rely on other parts,components,etc.. from outside and they can not get those supplies then factories can not operate and may as well stay shut. You also have inspection needed to pass for permit to operate. Some got it and many didn’t. If your factory got it but the other two that send you material did not get it then you may as we’ll start shut down. Most people are at home and their front entrances are closed off.

People now apparently also can't buy cough medicine and Fever medicine forcing people to go to a Hospital where they could run into others with Corona virus. Not good

If you have a fever, just take a pill and keep working. Just dont forget your mask at home!

I would not be surprised if we see the iPhone SE2 production come primarily from India.

Apple needs to further diversify its manufacturing. They should revisit the Brazil idea from a few years back and ramp up Indian production.

People are so worried about the Coronavirus coming into the US but according to the cdc the flu killed 60k people in 2018.

Wow! Mr. Ming sends out something about the bleeding obvious.

What news do you have for us then? Does my head in when people read news sites and complain the news isn't exciting enough. If it doesn't interest you then go and do something less boring instead. Kuo is a good resource, and I'm sure he doesn't care what you may for not find value in.

And if the same number of people had contracted this Coronavirus as contracted the flu in 2017/2018, 1.2 million would have died instead of 60,000. The flu kills 1 in 1,000, the Coronavirus 1 in 50.

There will likely be delays and shortages of certain products, but that’s of little concern to most.

Hopefully these workers aren't forced to come in and make phones while being worried about being infected by the coronavirus. they are already treated like ****. everyone can wait a few extra months for their new instagram-time sucking machine.
well I can't wait for new MBP...

Seems as of now to be a low impact.

Apple is likely burning through inventory, but still has cushion. More delays could cause problems, but people will ultimately wait for their iPhones.

If anything, this just shifts units to the next quarter.

I have a lot of confidence in Apple’s world class supply chain.

If I cannot get a low-cost iPhone soon, I will buy a Samsung. All necessary apps are available for iOS as well as for Android.

If you read recent articles, these workers are forced to stay at home.

Best conditions to spread the virus are many people under one roof, with good air conditioning, passing things from one to the other. Large factories are optimal for that, that's why the Chinese government is closing them down. But please tell me, how exactly are they treated like whatever **** means? Foxconn employees are about the best paid for that kind of work in China.

I got so many people from China this week messagings me asking me to ship them Face Masks. It is pretty sad now for many there.
That seems not quite believable, since China is where most of these face masks are manufactured.

Cough medicine and fever medicine don't exactly help with coronavirus. You'd need something that helps against pneumonia. So with cough and fever, just continue coughing and don't go to a hospital.

Corona virus loses viability at higher 38C+ temperatures and >95% humidity so either move manufacturing to Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, etc. or mimic the environmental parameters in China.
Do you think humans will survive this?

If I were you I’d go ahead and get the Samsung. You wouldn’t want to let a mere deadly virus come between you and a new phone.

There are only rumors of a low cost iPhone coming soon, anyway. It could be years away, who knows 🤷‍♂️ Or never.

Another stock market manipulation.

Here’s something to think about. Apple (and their manufacturers) can ramp production up and down fairly quickly. For example, increasing production during the iPhone launch/holiday quarter. Apple isn’t locked in to producing x amount of iPhones per week.

Im sure Apple can easily ramp production up again for a few weeks to compensate for this disruption.

The factory, the building, the machinery, the manpower, the training, all of that are not easy to increase or decrease. What are you thinking?

Foxconn (and other Chinese factories) are well known for being able to rapidly scale up when required.

None, but I'm not sprouting the bleeding obvious to the suckers that lap up and pay for reports from Mr Ming.

Was trying to avoid those two words but yes. Foxconn just need to shorten shifts for workers to acclimate and increase pay to compensate.

I like the novel idea to stop the spread of the virus, but don’t know how well the electronics will react to the high heat and humidity during assembly. Aren’t electronics factories normally kept cooler and dryer not so much for the workers but for the production?

I don’t understand those of you that say “so what? we can wait for products. safety first!”

This is not about consumers. This is about Apple, investors and Wall Street. Of course you can wait to buy a new iPhone. You have no choice! Lmao. It’s not like you can force Apple to do anything.

Apple’s goal is to sell as much products as possible and be as profitable as possible. Consumers will buy whatever Apple makes whenever it comes out, and if they can’t wait they’ll buy a previous generation or go to a competitor product.

That’s it. We know human lives are important. No one is saying they aren’t. At the end of the day... BUSINESS drives the world.

We don’t even know the features of the new iPhones. I’m sure the iPhone 11 Pro can handle any business needs... It’ll remain an amazing iPhone regardless of what new model comes out.

Hence why I took it from both a consumer and business perspective
