At the end of the day you can either wait for some mythical software fix that no one has actually confirmed exists or can exist. Or you can return it and get a known working mac.

This is a brand new rMBP....

Something that I totally didn't notice until today is that I receive absolutely zero UI lag using Windows 7 64Bit on Bootcamp. I'm using Chrome on Facebook and ANY other website and I can scroll literally as fast as I want. Not sure why I didn't notice it earlier. Probably because I did 99% of my web browsing in OSX.

So without a shred of a doubt this has to be related to the software.

So your bascially saying I should return a brand new top of the line product and get an older, already outdated product

Yes. Trade in your rMBP for an inferior display that will make you cry after using a rMBP. But hey, at least Facebook will be smoother.

Windows is on native 2880x1800 correct?

How does going native in OS X work?

I hate Facebook, but not being able to type in a text box without a delay, that is a behavior that requires a cure when it occurs, usually a reboot. If that doesn't work then it's time for a fresh install. If a fresh install doesn't work then new hardware is required.

then stop using gfxcardstatus

Sounds like your mind is already made up so why did you even bother starting this thread?

Look, some owners are trying to battle buyer's remorse (or just don't know better) by convincing themselves that the lags are purely due to software and that a fix from Apple is just around the corner. First, they thought ML would fix it but nope, some users even reported it worsened the condition (though others report the opposite). Then, they thought 8.1 would fix it. Nope. Then, they pinned their hopes to 8.2, but of course that hasn't resolved the issue either. Why? Because its a hardware issue!

Still not convinced? Re-read Anandtech's article about it. They're one of the most respected tech sites on the 'Net and the author knows his stuff cold. They're not wannabe engineers like some posters on here; they ARE engineers. Accept advice from whomever you like though.

Could you please provide us with a link?

I think this thread is ridiculous. I have zero problems with my rmbp, yes facebook can lag a bit sometimes, but it doesn't bother me. I've seen same kind of lag also in cmbp.

All in all I think rmbp is simply the best computer that I've ever used and it is super fast when I edit videos or photos with it.

never understand why facebook runs so smoothly on the iPad, not the app either, the actual webpage.. smooth as silk no matter the scaling.. if the coding is so bad it sure doesnt seem to bother the iPad

I think I found the root of the problem. I think safari redraws everything with every scrolling you make. meaning it has to redraw the sidebar, chat, pictures, and even the white spaces. Try this: Resize the window to quarter the size of the screen or anything smaller. The smaller the window, the smoother it scrolls. So, I don't think its a facebook problem. I think safari just draws everything again, instead of only the text and pictures in the middle. I think the new design of facebook is causing this, if anyone has access to the old design, try it and tell us how it's like.

nontroppo should I turn off the graphics switching?

You mean GfxCardStatus? I never use it on my rMBP, so far my battery has been great on the move; I always use it on my 2010MBP as it makes a difference there. I think there is no need to use it, especially considering the bugs people see on the rMBP.

I was out shopping for a computer sleeve today and went to three stores that had one rMBP on display each. They were all the base model.

I loaded up a site that I use a lot on each, a site that lags almost as bad as Facebook on my 2.6 GHz/16GB rMBP. The site lagged significantly on one of the three computers, but not at all on two of them. Interestingly, the computers that didn't lag was both on OS X 10.7.4, while the lagging one was on 10.8.1 - just like my own rMBP. All three had only the OS plus iLife installed. I guess this indicates the lagging is at least partly a software issue. Let's see what 10.8.2 brings.
